what is a character that's not being talked about that much in speculation, you think has a pretty good chance of making it in?

Dixie Kong. It’s kinda hard to say with her. People say she could be a echo of Diddy because his tail combo is gone. (Idk if this is true tbh but this is what I have heard). But if we are getting 3 echos I think it would be ken, shadow, and Dixie. She have a fan base but people don’t talk about her as much.

Jibanyan or Nate from YoKai Watch. I think we've been sleeping on their DLC potential. Level 5 just got even closer with Nintendo after supporting them for years and that series is a smash success in Japan and the cartoon is pretty popular here too. Now, my pick for Level 5's first rep is Layton but it could happen. Jibanyan also consistently places high on fan polls, not that those mean much, but the supporters all seem to be part of that silent fambase like Sora.

This too. Not so much anymore but people were sleeping on Elma HARD for a while. Even I did and I loved XCX! I'm really hoping she's in.

I don’t know, I think it’s possible we may get a little more since there are a couple of more characters that have a good chance at joining in as well. I’m not willing to really go beyond 9 including echoes though.

Well, I honestly stopped taking the wait seriously when I realized we really don't have that much time left. All I really do is rewatch footage I can find, and it helps.

And then people point at Rex & Pyra to try and deconfirm her despite there being no way anyone could've known how well XC2 could've sold at the time of the project development.

I'm not trying to become one of those fans about my faves but she's just plausible enough for me to get incredibly personally irritated when people ignore her or claim she has no chance because of a newer game or "fan favorites".

Kat and Ana. With Ashley out of the running and their AT conspicuously not being shown off so far, they seem like the most likely second Wario character to debut as a fighter.

TL:DR, The Smash Fighters playlist updated, the "New" tag was removed from the fighters section of the website, meaning it's very likely we'll get a new character soon. Not guarenteed, and we still don't know when or how they'd reveal it, but yeah.

You see, that's the issue. I was watching Big House 8 yesterday and the first thing it got me thinking when watching Sm4sh top 8 was "man I wanna play Smash now." And that ultimately brought me back to, well, Ultimate. Heh.

I've been playing other stuff and PM a good amount but man, the wait feels harsh. For the first time I want to go to Smash events near me and play Ultimate at locals, participate in tournaments, heck I'm pretty sure I wanna start streaming and doing videos on SmUsh. If the game is as fun as I hope, I plan to play a ton of it for years to come. I wanna become part of this community and have a blast. Hell, if it's fun enough I've set myself the goal of becoming good enough to compete in bigger tournaments, and not just for the fun of it but to win.

To get back to your point...Yes, other games help distract yourself. But discussing stuff on Forums is really enjoyable to me, too. So there's that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A Rhythm Heaven character. While they have been talked about, I don't see many people with one in their predictions. I have a hard time believing Sakurai came up with a moveset in Smash 4 and likely told the developers, and then decided to leave them out again after Megamix came out in Japan less than a year before the project plan and sold very well. It's also quite odd we haven't seen a single trace of Rhythm Heaven content in Ultimate so far. You'd think they'd at least get an assist.
Also, Papar Mario. He's super high in almost every fan poll ever, and yet nobody ever talks about him.

I can only imagine the absolute battlegrounds this place would be if we never got the Ken leak.

I 100% agree with you. I never got why people assumed that Dixie would probably be her own slot despite the fact the DK already has a standard Newcomer with K. Rool. As I think Sakurai is sticking with the "one standard newcomer per franchise" rule this time, because of the limited roster space. I think she would work best as an echo anyways...

Yeah, looking at a couple of Japan polls, I saw that at least Jibanyan ranked pretty high on them. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them got in

Anyways, yeah, I've kinda assumed that an RH character was a possibility (Even if you take my bias out of consideration) just because of the move set Sakurai probably thought up of. And don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Sakurai is a Rhythm Heaven fan....

Yeah, Paper Mario is definitely possible, though I think Geno is a bit more likely in terms of Mario reps...

People won't like me saying this, but Square doesn't care all that much about SMRPG these days, so I can see either the well-discussed Sora from KH appearing - without ANY strings attached to Disney whatsoever because that'd be a nightmare of licensing - or Noctis from FFXV becoming a thing for Ultimate as the fabled Square rep, if that is a thing at all anyway. Wouldn't even be mad, he can teleport around so that's cool enough already to elevate him from most Swordsman...Not like Sakurai cares about saturation of a franchise anyway.

He'd be a nightmare of licensing regardless. Sora is owned by Disney, so even if they drop all references to the Disney characters and remove the Mickey head from Sora's keychain, they'd still have to talk to Disney.

Elma, she's definitely fits the time window around when Sakurai was deciding the roster, also the fact that he's been showing a greater interest in Xenoblade in general so it's not impossible for more content and characters.

Gardevoir is another one, it's a very popular Pokémon, but it still hasn't made the return to a Pokéball Pokémon yet, which is suspicious.

I also think Amaterasu could potentially be our next Capcom newcomer due to her unique design and moveset.

Going into speculation, my absolute darling was Bandana Waddle Dee. By all metrics and fan polls we had, he seemed to prove himself extremely popular, along with having a constantly growing main role within the Kirby series. Honestly the closer we get to release without a reveal the less likely he seems. Even if he isn't a fighter, he deserves at the least an Assist Role, he's literally the 4th main character at this point.

Honestly if we were to get another FF rep, I would say that it would be Terra from Final Fantasy VI. She is probably the one with the most Nintendo history.

Believe it or not, I lost track of who I voted for in the Ballot. I probably voted for 5 separate characters. However I only remember 3 of them. Shovel Knight, Wreck-It Ralph (Give me a break, I was kinda hopeful then), and Bandanna Waddle Dee (I vaguely remember possibly voting for Inkling too, but I don't know)... I'm hoping that Bandanna Dee is in just so I can feel l heard, ya know?
But yeah, I'm starting to have my doubts on him as each announcement goes by.
