Ahhh haha... I think that "Geno" is a Mii in the Mii Costume.

Looking at it enhanced, it's white as a sheet like a standard Mii, and doesn't have Geno's ears.

I don't think having the rest of the roster being revealed this month is out of the realm of possibility, it's not what I'd say is the most likely scenario, but it could happen. 4 unique newcomers in one Direct is asking for a lot though.

if geno is a mii costume it feels fake. hate to say its fake once geno is out of the running but legit its weird to add a geno mii costume fighter in a magazine, more likely a faker would use a geno mii costume to fake geno into a picture.

Gotcha. I must have misinterpreted what he said, my bad. I would actually prefer if we got all the announcements out of the way, mostly so we can be done with these "leaks" altogether.

I wouldn't say you misinterpreted--the issue is the way he said it could be interpreted in multiple ways. The exact quote is:

"That said, if you were thinking that we’d just be dropping a bunch of newcomer trailers all the way up until release, you’d be sorely mistaken. We may have gone a little bit overboard up until now, so we’re going to slow our pace from here on out."

My initial impression of this was, "we're not going to be getting newcomers released all the way to December" and that it would be a "slower pace" than we've come to expect... which was essentially 3-5 characters every 2 months. But there's a lot of maneuverability between that. Does slowing down mean doing nothing for October, and then releasing a bunch in November? Does it mean rather than having a big Direct, it would be more spaced out, with individual newcomer reveals every couple weeks? Personally, I would say dropping a big Direct in October wouldn't be slowing the pace--it would be exactly what you'd expect after the August Direct, a big Direct 2 months later. But I'm not certain, either way.

Given this confusion, I've settled with "Whatever amount of reveals I thought there'd be, less than that." I think that's a fair approach, without trying to get too specific.

Quite the opposite, they very often spoil the evolutions.

Including Greninja I believe.

Whilst it is hard to predict the number of characters, however I do highly anticipate that Nintendo/Sakurai will provide a lot of DLC support for Smash.

i'd say more than Smash 4 since it was the 3DS that held back more potential newcomers and veterans like Ice Climbers and Pokemon Trainer

Well they have gotten better about hiding evolution spoilers in openings lately. I wonder though...

The anime doesn't include evolution spoilers in their openings anymore, I don't know when they started doing that, but whenever a Pokemon from the main cast evolves, they usually update the opening for the following episode after. Mallow's Steenee was present in the previous opening until she evolved into a Tsareena, the opening was then updated the following episode for example.

If Ash's Torracat evolves, they will most likely update the opening accordingly.

The major red flag with this "leak" is that it's pretty much hiding the new characters. If you had the chance to take a picture of the new characters you'd think you'd make sure to get clear images of them, not take a picture that only includes Incineroar's hand and a awful shot of Geno in what looks like complete darkness. You know what didn't do that? The Ken leak. Bam there he is clear and right in front of you with nothing to hide.

This one's fake. Easily fake.

And that could easily happen, but keep in mind that when Litten and Steenee evolved, neither had any complex animations in the intro. Replacing them wasn't exactly hard.

With this new intro, Rowlet and Torracat have special scenes that can't work without major edits or cutting the scene out entirely. Dartix can't fit in Ash's backpack (I assume), and the scene that features Torracat fighting Incineroar needs a complete overhaul in order to accommodate the huge difference in size and stature between the evolutions.

Again, an edit could very well happen, but the amount of effort put into animating this thing makes me think it'll be a while before we see someone evolve.

At this point, Geno has become the new Ridley. You want to believe the leak, but your heart knows better.

I think it’s the 3ds screen and like Shroob said it’s probably just the Mii Costume from smash 4 dlc

How many people actually want Geno because they played SMRPG and actually like the char, vs those just bandwagonning? I haven't played it but a one off appearance (and a cameo in M&L SS) isn't exactly the strongest ground for a candidate to be on (despite Sakurai wanting to include the char).

I played SMRPG, but I mostly just want him in so others would be happy...

That "magazine" looks really awful. Just from a design standpoint they wouldn't put a gradient in a textbox like that, it makes text hard to read.
I have very high doubts that a "magazine" making such an amateur mistake like that would be getting info this early from Nintendo.

I also like how he says "a magazine company" instead of the actual company. Like if he was trying to protect his friend it wouldn't matter at all because when the "magazine" releases people would know.

Geno still has a few dedicated supporters from the Brawl days, but I feel like most of his support comes from people who want him in Smash because others want him. There's absolutely no way he'd be as popular as he is today if people had to play SMRPG before they'd consider supporting him.

Personally, I don't care much for Geno, but even if I did, I couldn't complain about his absence from Ultimate. We got both Ridley and K. Rool. As far as I'm concerned, Sakurai has gone above and beyond to cater to fan requests this time. Not sure if Geno will make it in, but if he somehow doesn't, I hope the fans won't harass Sakurai over it.

I actually had no expectations your USUM initially.

My expectation for USUM was that it was going to do the B2W2 thing and be a mostly new story set in the same Gen. And it wasn't even that.

The worst part of USUM though, was that it actually added a handful of new Pokemon you couldn't get in SM. Which meant that, even though it was 90% the same as SM, you still had to play through it again if you wanted to keep having caught 'em all. Which none of the other "2nd versions" of Pokemon gens had ever made you do before.

Waluigi is similar to Ridley as they are both purple and their fanbases both have an (undeserved?) bad reputation.
