Isaac and Incineroar I don’t care for. If they make it in, cool. If not, I won’t lose any sleep.

If it's early-mid November, then it would be in a safe spot for a direct announcement. Anything after that is just too close the the release date imo (preferably, I would rather have the final Smash Direct to be in mid-late October so it lessens the chances of a major leak in November). Also, we have no idea if this is something new or a re-airing of E3 or other past event.

I wouldn't be hype for Ken at all due to how expected he is and how boring of a pick he is, in terms of the leak scene.

But in terms of outside of leak world, Ken is a pretty solid echo fighter pick I'd be happy to see, as long as he doesn't steal Shadow's spot for a third party echo.

I still feel like we're getting the final Smash Direct this month, personally.


I don't get the need to 'hype' up the game in November when:


A: Let's Go is going to be Nintendo's November game, making Smash big in November and overshadowing LGPE would be a horrible marketing decision

and

B: We'll probably have a global test smash announced for early/mid November anyway

Don't forget the pattern. It could be a coincidence but still something I thought I'd point out.

Why can't that post just mean "Hey, this is something that's gonna air on TV"?

I’m just saying. Every time an invitational or tournament like this comes up, this fandom immediately thinks a new character is 100% gonna happen. I’m not trying saying GunBlaze is guilty of this. Just pointing out.

There's only so many resources and so much time Sakurai and the team can give to characters. If Ken is in and Shadow isn't, that means they used those resources towards Ken and not Shadow or a whole host of characters. So yes, Ken would have taken a slot that Shadow could have taken instead.

That doesn't mean I have any animus against people who genuinely want Ken, Incineroar, Sora, or anyone else etc. in. There's nothing our support can do at this point to change who makes it in base. I'm hopeful Shadow makes base but the box theory has severely ratcheted down my expectations for who I want in. Box theory seemingly being true is a pretty big bummer but I do have the hope of DLC for sure. It's just not going to be fun waiting on pins and needles to see if Sakurai ****s with my hopes yet again.

I will be a pillar of salt if Shadow is cut out entirely.

That too. It hurts the box theory in a way as it means that it being a placeholder is extremely likely, and not the final version. But who knows.


Pretty sure Halloween is the reason. I mean, I won't lie, that's the best month to show him off... but I don't think Halloween is celebrated in Japan, so eh. I don't believe he's playable, as there's zero credibility towards any leaks related to it. Steve? has more going for him, even.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but has any main series Devil May Cry game appeared on a Nintendo System? I know Dante appears in stuff like Project X Zone... But in this case, I think the main franchise should be on the system first before they get into Smash (Before you say Cloud, despite FF VII not being on a Nintendo console, FF as a whole has had a big appearance on Nintendo Consoles). Besides, If we were to get a third unique Capcom rep, shouldn't it be someone with more ties to Nintendo like a Monster Hunter or Phoenix Wright?

Ties to Nintendo don't mean crap.

Also Dante has way more moveset potential than a MH rep and Pheonix Wright combined tbh.

Persona 3 Portable's FeMC fixed Persona 3.

Persona 5 is the best Persona game.

Persona Q got boring halfway through (but I'm stoked for Q2).

2 has excellent characters and an interesting story but the encounter rate is godawful.

...why is this even a question? After 68 characters and 6 echoes including literally everyone you ever cared about from a previous game there shouldnt be a negative option.

Box theory, blog theory, whichever personal philosophy you adhere to shouldn't really change the fact that whoever we get is just extras to the finest roster in videogame history.

Ohh I didn't see it's a rerun and not a new invitational. Well an October reveal is likely (because of the playlist update) and a November direct is now much more likely (due to the rerun announcement).

Uh... Isn't Dante basically less provocative male Bayonetta? Bayonetta is a Spiritual succseor to Devil May Cry... Is it not? It would be kinda redundant to have two different non echo third party newcomers who's games of origin almost play exactly the same...
This is a very limited roster, I don't even think we'll get another unique Capcom newcomer...
Besides, I don't think Dante is next in line in terms of Capcom Smash representation... There's Monster Hunter, Phoenix Wright, and even Leon Kennedy...
Also, assuming the name, Doesn't Devil May Cry focus a lot on Devils? Isn't that a little much for an E10+ Game? (I know Bayonetta kinda does too, but not to an extent as much as DMC...).
Also, Dante in smash will give me terrifying flashbacks to Playstation All Stars (A game where he actually made sense to appear in...)

This is probably going to be controversial, but I really enjoy puzzle leaks. If they're fake then it's essentially just a fun little game about guessing characters, if they're real then you can feel like you've accomplished something when ypu figure it out, instead of just reading a list of characters.

I hate to be negative but I don't feel that Dixie can work as an echo, as mentioned before that her borrowing Dk's up b would require a different animation simply because of the difference between their body types. Plus Dixie doesn't look right doing cartwheels and not using her ponytail, it's just too out of character. She has to be a semi clone at least.

On the plus side, everything else listed is good though I definitely would prefer Banjo Kazooie over Steve.

He was asked about NGametheCube "leak" about Geno being the Free DLC and here's his answer.

"Geno is someone practically everyone is predicting and expecting. Meaning that they internally probably do not take that one as seriously as names they themselves have been putting out to employees.
That's not to say that he isn't a name on their list of characters they have been telling people it is though."

Not really? There's nothing Devil May Cry has that Bayonetta doesn't have. DMC would be fine.
