Today's update is on the Italian website. It's Kapp'n as an Assist Trophy.
DK looks like he's about to throw Kapp'n out of that bus, Battletoads-style.Looks like we got blog post about new AC assist trophy
New Smash Blog Post! (09/30)

Today's Item
Kapp'n Assist Trophy
When Kapp'n takes the stage he hops on a bus and drives around the stage. Careful! When he hits a fighter, he'll carry them off of the stage in his bus!! pic.twitter.com/nAStrVOL9P
Although it did tarnish Ninja Theory's reputation for some time.But....the game wasn't that bad....heck from an action game standpoint it's pretty damn good.
I steered clear of the forums after I saw 's reveal.Hey guys when the final smash direct was over how salty was the smashboards
How? Analyzing the blog is about *average* post number, not the exact number a week or day-to-day postings. If the *average* suddenly changed and started to slow down, then that would be notable. That being said, given Sakurai has said reveals will be slowing down, while it doesn't directly challenge the assumptions of using the blog, it does so implicitly, and so if we're going to call it "dead" it was dead after Sakurai's recent comments (which no theory is "dead" until directly deconfirmed).Man, if this is seriously a signal that "Blog theory" is dead, I'll have a good laugh.
We had an Assist Trophy at the start of last week too.
I could see them dumping the rest of the items on the blog in October before a Direct in early November. But yeah, if we get 2 characters this week, blog theory is looking pretty dire.
Granted, it's about damn time. We should have gotten most of these items/assists back in August/late September; now they're going to use October as their dumping ground for playing Direct catch-up.
Overall disappointing. 9 unique fighters is only two more than Sm4sh, and I expect a lot more than that considering how successful the Switch is. DLC echoes likely won't happen either, as there's no need to rush fighters. Picks like Impa, Viridi, Skull Kid, and Sylux aren't exactly exciting either. Like, I wouldn't buy those characters if I wasn't inclined to have the full roster.*sigh*...So, shenanigans aside, would anyone care to rate this hypothetical DLC lineup?
Hypothetical DLC Characters:
Unique Newcomers: 9
Rex & Pyra (Xenoblade)
Spring Man (ARMS)
Issac (Golden Sun)
Skull Kid (Legend of Zelda)
Sylux (Metroid)
Eldeguard (Fire Emblem)
Bandana Waddle Dee (Kirby)
Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden)
Monster Hunter (Monster Hunter)
Echoes: 5
Dixie Kong (Donkey Kong)
Impa (Legend of Zelda)
Ribbon Girl (ARMS)
Octoling (Splatoon)
Viridi (Kid Icarus)
Total DLC Fighter Count: 14
It was literally that. Minecon Earth was honestly fun to watch. Though it didn't have a ton of exciting news in my case, it was a pretty good presentation overall.Probably the new game, Minecraft Dungeons.
If we get 2 a week from this point on, each week cuts into the expected outcome. How? Analyzing the blog is about *average* post number, not the exact number a week or day-to-day postings. I dont much follow competitive Pokemon so may i ask where Decidueye is in ranking?
Here, I haven't been super into competitive mons for a while but I can still help answer that. There are some flaws to Decidueye that prevents it from being that viable, but I don’t really know.
"ayy lmao she merely finished what Melee's event mode started"I only hung at the Nintenzone thread but it wasn't that bad.
Except for a guy or two who left a huge rant on "Bayonetta ruining the integrity of Smash Bros."
Yes, but they'll let him in after 17 years of begging. Is Ridley too big for Kapp'n's bus?
9/10. The lack of Shantae concerns me, but the rest is practically nothing but hits.Overall disappointing. 9 unique fighters is only two more than Sm4sh, and I expect a lot more than that considering how successful the Switch is. That being said, I'll piggyback off of this and ask you guys to rate this lineup:
Before I start:
- Echoes are italicized
- Slashes indicate that one of the two characters will get in
Base Roster
Incineroar (Pokemon)
Sora/Geno (Square Enix)
Steve (Microsoft)
Ken (Street Fighter - Ryu)
Shadow (Sonic the Hedgehog - Sonic)*
DLC
Sora & Roxas/Geno (The one that didn't make it into base, Roxas is added if Sora is DLC) (Square Enix)
Isaac (Golden Sun)
Rex & Pyra (Xenoblade Chronicles 2)
Chorus Kids (Rhythm Heaven)
Spring Man & Ribbon Girl (ARMS)
Bandana Waddle Dee (Kirby)
Paper Mario (Paper Mario)
Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia)
Jin Kazama/Heihachi (Tekken)
Joker/Yu Narukami (Persona)
Arle Nadja & Second Puyo Puyo character (Puyo Puyo)
Dante (Devil May Cry)
Rayman (Rayman)
Crash Bandicoot & Coco Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot)
Banjo & Kazooie (Banjo-Kazooie)
Tails (Sonic the Hedgehog - Semi clone of Sonic)*
Octoling (Splatoon - Semi-clone of Inklings)
Dixie Kong (Donkey Kong Country - Semi-clone of Diddy Kong)
*If a Sonic character is in base roster, it will be Shadow as a Sonic echo. If not, it will be Tails as a Sonic semi-clone
Overall 22 characters, though it's more like 20 if you account for the fact that three are echoes and three are semi-clones. I could easily see this being done over the course of 2 - 3 years, which is likely what this game's lifespan is going to be. I also expect the DLC team to be slightly larger and more dedicated due to the Switch's success and Nintendo's new push for DLC in their games, so anywhere from 7 - 10 characters a year is reasonable.
DLC is going to be where Nintendo hits hardest in terms of hype picks because they need to sell us on the merit of the characters alone.
One size fits all.Is Ridley too big for Kapp'n's bus?
It wasn't all that bad. The majority of the salt came from Corrin's inclusion but everyone was pretty ok with Bayonetta. At least, that's as far as I remember. I was pretty salty about Snake not making it back but that was par for the course by then so I wasn't all surprised. Corrin though. Yeah, Corrin had it pretty rough.Hey guys when the final smash direct was over how salty was the smashboards
That's a big if though, if the reasoning is we had one week with only two character posts, therefore every week will have around two character posts. Weeks 6 and 8 had two character posts, but the average stayed the same as we had 4 character posts in weeks 4 and 5. Which is why I emphasize average, and I feel like those advocating blog theory, including that Reddit post and Gamexplain do a disservice by masking the simplicity of the assumptions. We'll only know for sure if the average has changed by looking back in a couple of weeks. If we get 2 a week from this point on, each week cuts into the expected outcome.
The blog theory more or less banked on 3 a week until launch giving us that 7-8 number. The less weeks we have with 3-4 reveals, the lower that estimated number becomes.
Crap I knew I was forgetting Rayman and Crash in MY DLC picks list methinks I was perhaps a bit too conservative...coulda threw in Dante and Joker and maybe even Funky Kong for good measureOverall disappointing. 9 unique fighters is only two more than Sm4sh, and I expect a lot more than that considering how successful the Switch is. I honestly want to see what the next variant of the Final Showdown title will be like this time."ayy lmao she merely finished what Melee's event mode started"
Look, no one's exactly going to stop you.Hey, so quick question for everyone. Would you guys be okay if I did a series of my own where I pitch characters for Smash along with a moveset I made here in the General Forum, or does that kind of content deserve it's own thread or something?
JRPGs are known for their unique characters, so they are really good candidates for Smash... However it seems to have come to the point where people are tired of the same franchises getting reps... Idk,Hey, is it just me, or the JRPG series in Smash, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and Xenoblade Chronicles tend to get a lot flak from the Smash community? I've just had this feeling the those three series were really unpopular with the community.
At least it’s not the version that comes with Donte, so...So no Little Mac? Rip Dante...
Thank goodness too. I could tell that leak was fake from a mile away,At least it’s not the version that comes with Donte, so...
I think Pokemon's flack comes from the fact that due to its massive influence, characters will get in regardless of fan demand and will almost always be the direct result of The Pokemon Company's pushing.Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and Xenoblade Chronicles
Ruins the character in just one skin. Plus itd be repeating one of the big mistakes PSASBR made.At least it’s not the version that comes with Donte, so...
Would you say Kirby and Kid Icarus get any flack? I know that some people would hound Sakurai for having "bias" for those series, and I can't help but wonder how the overall community would feel if he added anyone from either. Maybe it's just a few salty people, though.I think Pokemon's flack comes from the fact that due to its massive influence, characters will get in regardless of fan demand and will almost always be the direct result of The Pokemon Company's pushing.
Fire Emblem and Xenoblade Chronicles on the other hand gets flak from people who believe that there are far too many swordsmen with an anime aesthetic.
Even having that would demand huge willingness on Sakurai's part, since he'd rather not touch Kirby characters from other people. I do wonder what he thinks of Shirakura throwing caution to the wind and practically putting everyone that's notable in Star Allies.Would you say Kirby and Kid Icarus get any flack? Knowing that, can we get Magolor as an AT please?
It would be hilarious if this game got the genuine article version of Dante, would make PSASBR seem even more like a bootleg.Ruins the character in just one skin. Plus itd be repeating one of the big mistakes PSASBR made.

I tried that back in Smash 4. It didn't go over well.Hey, so quick question for everyone. Would you guys be okay if I did a series of my own where I pitch characters for Smash along with a moveset I made here in the General Forum, or does that kind of content deserve it's own thread or something?

Idk, I kinda lowkey wanted Donte, just so we can have a character who was in both Super Smash Bros., and Playstation All Stars. At least it’s not the version that comes with Donte, so...
Good to note that every franchise will get flak regardless, but the amount increases with what people perceive as "undeserving."Would you say Kirby and Kid Icarus get any flack? >Ninten mod in Brawl's battlefield. Also,
No effort... Try harder, leakers
Literally nothing about this says its the orignal DMC leaker other than the guy claiming he is, so take this with a grain of salt guys.At least, we don't want donte in sm-
http://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/433667198
>Same leaker? that leaked many infos about DMCV is back and he claims that DmC version of Dante is in smash as alt costume for Dante.
WHY. When I thought that we're finally out of the forest that is Donte, and now we're ****ing back in the forest again?
Be right back, guy. I'm going to be in my corner for a few minutes.
?= I don't know if it was same leaker that leaked more about DMCV or not.
Morrigan with a MvCI model. This would be the only time that recycling for her would not be funny in the slightest.Thought experiment, What change would be made to a character to utterly ruin them for you even if they get into smash (IE Donte costume).
