Honestly the best point I've seen that isn't "No, it cannot happen". When the reality is? Yeah, it could happen, but it's probably not going to(key term being probably).

As I've said before, making declarative statements is always a bad idea when if you're wrong, it makes you look worse.

The chance of Minecraft content getting revealed for Smash at Minecraft was extremely low. Same reason why you don't get Smash reveals in indie directs. It detracts from the main point of the event which is the actual game of Minecraft.

I really doubt we"re getting a playable Minecraft character (hopefully) and the only reason why this is gaining any traction whatsoever is due to "supposed leaks" that wasn't stated by Vergeban. Steve is not happening and I'm confident in it.

Nobody is even expecting it here, but in fact are in the "I highly doubt it" phase. Thus, there is no real problem to begin with.

Did anyone seriously think EVO would announce anything related to Smash? The fact it happened was completely insane and unexpected.

It's the only reason to bother keeping an eye on other events. Not that they're likely to happen(they aren't), but because Nintendo has clearly changed up things and surprises can happen. Being likely isn't a requirement. Of course, nobody is spreading false hope either as nobody was expecting information at Minecon anyway.

Smash is actually there and ran as an event there and considering how Nintendo has been marketing Smash as a competitive fighting game since Smash Ultimate ; it wasn't entirely out there; just unexpected, but not unrealistic . Minecon and Smash are entirely separate. One would look in this thread and think there is a good chance of something smash related being at Minecon.

It's the same thing. Both were major events and nobody was expecting any actual Smash news. Nothing changed whatsoever in that regard.

Minecon was being talked about because Minecraft is a constant Smash subject here. It made sense to keep an eye on an event, especially since many people expect Minecraft content in Smash itself(regardless of Steve being playable or not). It was not an odd subject to come up.

The only issue is that a lot of it wasn't strictly related to Smash itself, and that's an issue this thread has as is. Too much Social stuff. >.< But that's not a problem related to Minecon(which was actually on-topic in this context).

November: Smash Direct reveals 70: Banjo or Steve, 71: Elma, 72: Geno, 36e: Dixie Kong, 38e: Shadow and 54e: Medusa as the final characters.

Only leeway for that one is that some Project M staff did DDLC. Even then, people would prefer characters from other games that messed with players' perception of games before DDLC did, like Irisu, Sans and that character from Eversion.

Who said anything about that? That's a leap of logic that nobody actually said. I guess I can see where it could be accidentally implied, but nobody spoke of who would be presenting the information, so it wasn't really a relevant point to be countered.

Being revealed at an Event doesn't mean that somebody other than those two would reveal it. It'd still be Nintendo or Sakurai announcing it regardless. People thought there was a tiny chance the location of Minecon would be used to announce Minecraft Smash content. Nobody was expecting it, of course. But the location has nothing to do with what people are presenting it.
