I'm actually still concerned about the box leak because there have been more "trusted leakers" that have come out and the only characters they are confirmed are Ken and Incineroar.

They aren't saying those are the ONLY characters, but they also aren't naming any more

Except for the supposed SE character from Verg
But Leaky Pandy gave an explanation for that

I seriously doubt leakypandy knows about some dragon quest reveal at a game awards show, i dont think leakypandy has ever had info that specific come true.

vergeben suggested the square rep might just be dlc and that seems like a far better explanation if the box theory is true. personally i think we'll get the square rep as our final base roster character but they arent on the box or on the back or something but thats just my guess.

Ugh! This again. Dillon is incredibly different from Sonic aside from rolling around. Dillon is actually quite sluggish on foot when he's not rolling, and attacks with claw swipes, bombs, burrowing, and other moves Sonic cannot do.

Stop insisting Dillon should be a Sonic echo. Dillon's roll attack has more in common with Jigglypuff's Rollout than Sonic's Spin Dash anyway.

I think it's totally possible and currently I'm banking on Geno being it. It's a great way to promote Online subscriptions. And for those of you who say that's not something Sakurai/Nintendo would do, they did a simialr, more expensive promotion for Mewtwo as dlc so idk...

I never understood the hate for R.O.B personally, though I was a fan because of Mario Kart already.

It was mostly because he was "revealed" (as in some dude took a photo of his SSE title card) alongside the final roster, so people saw it as some obscure toy that most didn't even know what was stealing the spot of Ridley/Geno/Krystal/Mega Man/etc, and as such he got all of those characters' fans after him. It was never justified, but Smash fans always find a scapegoat, and R.O.B. had literally no support, unlike Wolf, Lucario and Toon Link who were the other hidden newcomers, so he was the one who was blamed.

It did blow over eventually though, most people warmed up to him when they got to do SSE themselves, it was mostly the initial reaction which was really bad.

There's 2 at the moment (outside of the trillions and millions of patterns that are real until something breaks them then a new pattern is formed)

1. A notoriously incorrect leaker suggests that a Dragon Quest character is being announced as DLC for The Game Awards.
2. A leaker backed up by Vergeben suggests that Steve from Minecraft is playable, Vergeben says its a possibility.

Tim Daly is Sephiroth, Superman, and Nooj from FFX-2? Pretty good at playing both sides it seems. His Nooj portrayal sounded kinda bland though; almost like he was bored lol.

I like Geno but we are talking about Mewtwo.

A similar newcomer would probably need to cater more than hardcore fans.

Yeah, about that, I hate to break it to you, but IO Interactive have left SE and are on their own now, sorry.

As for me, it'd either be Cecil Harvey, Alena, Jessica or Tifa.

day one dlc seems un-sakurai like to me but... who knows.

nintendo definitely wants to push their online service, smash will be a big release to promote that with, dangling a carrot for us would make sense business wise. i dont know, it would be so odd to have essentially two different base rosters for those who bought online and those who didnt right off the bat.

Although I would much rather have Minecraft represented by a stage and Creeper assist, I would be totally fine with Steve's inclusion. There's no denying Minecraft was an extremely influential game, and Steve would be completely deserving of his spot.
A fortnite character, on the other hand, would actually be a horrible choice. All that game has done is ride on the popularity of the battle Royale genre. It may be popular, but it will never have the impact Minecraft did.

I don't know man, if they were to release around 6 DLC characters for $5 each during a year, then it wouldn't make sense to release them separately since one could just purchase the Online for $20 and have them all for cheaper.

Yes. I have a lot of candidate if Geno isn't in. And they're for me. As Iconic if not even more than Geno for some of them... Which is why guessing a Square Rep is basically taking a gamble.

There are significantly better ways to represent the series than just adding the default skin of the player avatar, especially when you play in first person (or I have always at least) more often.

I'd argue Snake is on a completely different level than Geno though.
Snake at the very least is recognizable in the game industry, while Geno is only relegated to the Smash speculative community.
(Not to mention Snake wasn't also ever requested so)
Then again Ridley is also on the box art, so I guess it really doesn't matter.

No, it's not a character at all, I was just referring to how Tamagon's trophy was cut in the US version of Melee because of people that are uppity about Christian references in video games. Your idea is great, I was just saying.
