Man, what is it with Intelligence Systems and self-insert avatars?

For the same reason that self-insert fanfictions exists: because young kids and teenagers (one of the main demographics video games are marketed to) like to feel special.

Kris makes both Robin and Corrin look like Commander Shepard, they're one of the worst cases of shoehorning a character that doesn't belong into a story that didn't need them.

Well, in Kris's case, they were shoved into a pre-existing story, while Robin and Corrin got to be in a story that... well, I don't know if it's accurate to say that their stories revolved around them (i.e. hello Mary Sue), but they were built from the ground up to accommodate their presence, like how Star Wars is built to accommodate the presence of Luke Skywalker or Han Solo.

Honestly. I don't see why they need them?

You can still illicit a reaction with the DLC trailers.

Lucas, Bayonetta, and Cloud in particular, since none of them got leaked.

I dont know if anyone talked about this but does anyone remember how Vergeben said that konami would also announce a pair of castlevania games, one being a collection. Well apparently it got leaked on a korean imageboard that the castlevania collection game is coming at least to ps4. If this does get announced soon at the TGS then maybe itd be best the civil war happen now so it doesnt take attention away from the game.

Not only did Loz turn out to be a hack, but now it's very probable that we only got two characters left which may have already been leaked by Verg and now it turns out the music theory hullabaloo may have some merit to it.

If we count Super Mario RPG as a separate universe from the Mario Canon, then he still has a chance of making it in.

Geno's a very odd case as he is a third party after all. You'd have to consider if he'd even be considered Mario music. Sounds dumb, but it's true.

If it's not Geno, well, first, I'll probably be mad at any SE rep because I'm selfish. But if I had to guess, a Dragon Quest rep, sadly.

We do have that rumor of Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood coming to PS4 that popped up today, so if that's what Verg was talking about, they would come to Switch too.

Only other thing I could see coming out of TGS for Switch would be Ace Attorney, since Capcom is doing a 40 minute presentation on the series and said last year they were developing for it.

SMRPG will most likely be in the main Mario section, considering that's the treatment they gave to Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi.

It's a weird case with Mario music split between regular and Kart as a subseries. We wouldn't get a new logo if RPG was it's own series, but them showing any music collaboration would be a dead giveaway.

That said I believe music means nothing for anyone's chances/that the theories are just patterns and boredom at their finest.

I think Geno will be given the Mario series icon, as his Mii Costume got that in Smash 4.

He's in such a weird series limbo because it's a weird case of a first party series game getting made by a third party developer. I imagine one day we'll be having similar debates about Rabbid Cranky.

Yes it's a dumb reason. But the fact that he disappeared there made me worried that Square was against using Geno again-

It doesn't really matter what you think, to be frank. What matters is the objective fact that it is a third party game. Technically, the music within it would be Squares, not Nintendo's.

There really is no way to tell what they'll do if they even have SMRPG music until the game's out, sadly.

Geno appearing in M&L in the first place was very odd. It didn't fit.

Consider how Sakurai asked for K. Rool not to be used in other games before Smash so he could personally revive him in Ultimate.

I mean it's possible.
He might be listed under the Mario series or might get his own "series" given he's a third party.
I think he might be considered the latter because of that, there's other factors against him, but I wouldn't consider the music theory as one.
As for a possible SE character, it could be a DQ character, Agnès, Neku, Crono, Lara Croft, or even another FF7 character.
I'd honestly prefer Neku or Crono, but there's so many different characters that it's really hard to pin down who.

Geno has the rare situation of being both a 3rd party character and a Mario character. Super Mario RPG is considered separate from the rest of the Mario RPGs, like Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi. In my opinion, he would probably be the one exception to the music theory.

I'm hoping, if another SE rep. get's in, Geno ends up getting revealed alongside them somehow (if he isn't the sole SE rep), or ends up as DLC.

I have yet to play SMRPG, but I still consider him among my most wanted (the others being Banjo-Kazooie and, well, Skull Kid, of course), so I'd be disappointed to see him not make the roster yet again, despite how Sakurai seems to want him. Someone pointed out in the Geno thread that they had to license Beware the Forest Mushrooms, but just for his 10-second Mii Costume clip? There's also the "Super Smash Bros. x Super Mario RPG" screen that showed up at the end of that gameplay clip, so he definitely got special treatment.

I also like Minecraft Steve and would personally enjoy an Undertale rep. but they're low-priority, and Steve may end up being weird. Also Porky Minch and Ninten would be cool.

Also, I don't think Square is stingy; Sakurai and Nomura seem to be on good terms, and it seems Sakurai actually wanted Cloud. FF only has two songs because legal issues with the composer.
