But this also brings up another big reason why a November reveal isn't appropriate. Lets Go is very divisive, so Nintendo needs to convince the masses that this game is worth buying compared to a "standard" Pokemon experience.
Its just far too unlikely based on the timeframe Ultimate had. Sakurai usually develops his newcomers prior to the game's proposal. The proposal was right after 4 which was still before SuMo released.
Unless the Pokemon Company new years in advance what they were going to do with Let's Go! then they likely would have just given Sakurai options for Gen 7.
EDIT: if, this is a BIG if, we get no new Pokemon newcomer then I'd almost bet on the Gen 8 Pokemon getting in as DLC.
If this replaces Black Yoshi, I'll be so upset. As if Fire Mario & Wario colors being removed in favor of Waluigi colors that Luigi doesn't have wasn't bad enough.
I'm still very curious how they may go about implementing more than 8 alts.

Depends on how the public perceives it. Revealing any Pokemon that isn't in Lets Go may not boost perception of game, since only Gen 1 and a new Pokemon are in the game. If the newcomer is the new Pokemon (which I doubt, but it's possible) then this would be a great marketing opportunity.
Any Yoshi content in general. I ain't talking about a playable character (although that'd be nice), I'm talking a new stage, a new item, an AT FINALLY, just anything!!!
Meta-Ridley confirms characters having more than 8 alts since Ridley already had 8 alts in the demo, so that's nice. Yoshi, Meta-Ridley, and Odyssey Costumes lead me to believe that there will be a bigger focus on alt costumes in this game. The question is, will we get characters as alt costumes a la Alph?
I'm a Mimikyu fan tell me about it. That little guy has an even less chance because its a Pokemon!
At least Elma and Viridi and Waluigi will never be full on replaced by a potential newcomer. Mimikyu is gonna be another Pokemon Jessie owned and then it will fade away as soon as Gen 8 hits. ;w;
The biggest problem is that we simply do not know the order in which the songs will be revealed. What happens if Pokémon gets a song next week? Is Incineroar suddenly out of the running, despite the word of a reliable leaker? And what happens for every series that has the potential for a new song, but simply doesn't get one?
If you're playing it (mostly) blind, I'll give these pieces of advice. You can read them if you want.
You can transfer data from Golden Sun to Lost Age, which allows you to beat the second game 100%; you can access the transfer feature after you have completed save data in Golden Sun and can access it by pressing ++ on the main menu.
There are three special pieces of equipment you can get in Lost Age that you can only get with transferred save data.
Win in Colosso
Return to Vault and speak to the Mayor after you cross the Lamakan Desert
Save Hsu in the Alpine Crossing
There are seven Djinn of each element in the first Golden Sun game, none of them are truly missable so long as you haven't beaten the Final Boss and seen the credits. However, you are given a bit of leeway in that one Djinn of each element from Golden Sun will appear in Lost Age if you missed them in the first game.
There is an item from Golden Sun needed to 100% Lost Age, it's possible for a person playing blind to get to the end of the game not even knowing they've missed it (since the two times it's needed in GS have workarounds, you can brute force the first area and a special cutscene plays if you don't have the item at the second area). This "missable" item is the Orb of Force.

I think that only a few newcomers truly have their last chance here, like Isaac, Andy or Gen 7 Pokémon. Everybody else simply has a slim to none chance, except third parties because those, if they're requested, stand the test of time by default, and can afford to wait. If the cast is too cycling, or they come from dead franchises, well, at least the latter can wait to be considered retro. But the rest have stood the test of time.
If this is because Smash 6 will destroy the roster, I don't think Smash 6 will ever exist. It's too easy to constantly port and support Ultimate to avoid a negative reaction to cuts.

Well, Verg's word isn't a guarantee, so if next week is Pokemon music, music theory is still alive.
Just like box theory is also alive if someone other than Incineroar is revealed.
Verg, box theory, music theory, and CoroCoro are all independent and it's possible for all to be true, all to be false, or any combination of true/false.
Personally, I think music theory and box theory are by far the most common sense, logical theories I've ever seen on Smashboards. Verg also has a good track record and doesn't contradict either of them (unless I missed something and he's confident in the Square rep now), so Ken and Incineroar as the final characters makes sense.
Although I'm still guessing Ken and Isaac as final ones instead cuz I still have trouble seeing a world where the are not more newly repped Nintendo IPs than newly repped 3rd party IPs in Smash.
I think some alts were cut because they looked too similar, like how it's speculated that they cut Fire Mario due to being a white alt like the Wedding outfit and that they cut Wario Mario due to being a yellow alt like the Builder outfit. This theory is destroyed by Yoshi getting an alt that is essentially just a fuzz effect though .

I legit see a world where they all end up meshing together.
Verg and CoroCoro can already co-exist, especially since it's now likely we may be getting a Crafted World stage to replace Wooly World, meaning if Minecraft gets a stage, there's 2 that don't need newcomers as is.
Ultimate is the final time Smash is going to pull all the stops. Anyone that doesn’t get in at this point is most likely never getting in a Smash game, period.
I hope I’m wrong, but this is all too plausible.
