Why the hell Music and Box confirming less than a ****ton of new characters is something pessimistic

SMASH BROTHERS ISN'T ONLY ABOUT THE NEWCOMERS AND THE HYPE SURROUDING THEM

We still have Spirits, RIDLEY AND K.ROOL, along with other fan favorites AND perspective of DLC, along with 103 stages. Let that sink for a moment. The next month of hype will be about spirits, not newcomers, and that's perfectly fine. I think people put too much emphasis on who's getting in or not, but this game is already incredible. And before anyone says "huh but you got what you wanted so you're happy!!" miss me with that. I wanted Ashley, no dice. I was sure Geno was a lock, but that's never a guarantee. I want Isaac as much as anyone. I thought Shadow was obvious. But I don't care if stuff say they aren't in, we've gotten so much already, let's just enjoy the ride till then.

Arcsys did just that. IIRC they removed Freeza's black alt in Fighterz despite it being in the beta. Of course it's not Smash, but...

Whilst I agree with your logic, you gotta understand the can of worms that would open.

I'll start with one: Pokken did just that. They added Croagunk who was already a secondary character, as in nonplayable role, into a playable role.

Oh boy would that set the internet ablaze.

Completely agree. Anything else we get feels like icing on an already delicious cake.

Decided to go back and check up on some things Jon from Gamexplain has said in regards to Smash speculation.... It's pretty interesting, NGL.

First off:


Out of the 4 of them, he was the only one to bring up the idea of Isabelle being unique, while the others thought that she'd be an Echo.


When someone mentions Incineroar, he's usually the first to agree or say how much he thinks it's likely.


Mentioned he thought that the 8.8 Direct would have a section dedicated to revealing just Echo Fighters; his only choice was Ken. This was BEFORE Vergeben said Ken was in.


On the topic of Square:


He thinks Geno would bring great music in, but he has gone on record to basically gush about how important Dragon Quest being in would be.

I just think that Chrom is the last Fire emblem Chracther we are getting in Smash for while and I'm kinda of mad that is him I like Chrom but If they had to put a new fire emblem chracther why him I know echoes dont take that much work but he is a still new fire emblem chracther and I just wanted someone more unique Thats all

I assume it was because everyone has the same alts (as in everyone has a blue alt, a pink alt, a white alt, etc), and there wasn't a place for Frieza's black alt to fit in, because nobody else had black alts.

It's also plausible that the full roster will be revealed before November 2nd, since the bundle for Smash Ultimate releases then.

On a side note: this could also mean that the possibility of a demo in November increases if all of the base roster is known beforehand.

The only bundle coming out November 2nd is the one with the Switch, not the steelbook.

I suppose we can theorize on the likely grim future of Smash after Ultimate comes out.

It's used in the story mode for his clones in the final game. Not a GOOD reason imo.

So on the topic of new alt costumes and with the Happy Home Designer song, how about Lottie as a alternate costume for Isabelle similar to Koopalings or Alph?

All of Isabelle’s animations would work perfectly for Lottie so you don’t need to make her an echo. Lottie might not be overwhelmingly popular, but she’s gotten a physical Amiibo, been prominent in a few AC games, and she even took over the Animal Crossing Twitter from Isabelle for a short while.

I don't think K Rool was in such a boat. More that Nintendo wanted to try something different. As far as Geno goes, SE has had a few opportunities to use him in Mario spin off games they've developed and I simply don't think Camelot cares about making RPGs anymore. Of course, this is simply my opinion on the matter.

I would also strongly recommend you use punctuation in your posts. Its kinda painful to read for some of us otherwise.

Chrom likely got in because of his popularity on the ballot and #SakuraiBias. I'm impressed the man had the guts to even add a FE echo after the Corrin thing, the absolute madman.

Boshi looks so ****ing stupid and I love him for it. He literally just looks like a normal Yoshi that's trying too hard to be "too cool for school".

I don't know their reason for thinking this, but I agree with the idea. Take for example, Ashley. I now know Ashley had three very big things working against her, which is why she obviously wasn't chosen as a fighter.

1. She isn't well known enough.
Sure she's got a niche fanbase, but that's it. It's niche. She isn't popular or important enough to stand with the greats.

2. She isn't requested enough.
K Rool hasn't been in a game for ten years, most modern gamers simply don't care about him. But he got in because of his rabid fan's requests that stood out from the others. Unfortunately Ashley doesn't have a fanbase as big as his, so our cries blend in with the others millions requesting characters.

3. She isn't important enough.
She's not a gaming icon. She's a side character from the spin off of a spin off. She'll never be significant enough for a game like this.


I thought that Ultimate being the game of fan requests Sakuari would grant the one wish of her teeny-tiny fan base. I was wrong. I've realized that Ashley will never, ever be in a Smash game as anything other than an Assist Trophy. I'm not angry, i'm not bitter, it sucks, but that's how it is.

Phew, feels good to get that off my chest.

If "for a while" means the base roster, then yes Chrom will probably be the last FE character. In terms of DLC however, a rep from Three Houses or even Heroes is definitely possible. Maybe even Lyn (if there's an assist trophy ballot/revival) or another popular older character (Hector/Ephiram) if there is enough demand.
