Wow, I really.... don’t like that HHD remix. Like, not only does it not at all fit the original tune of the song, but the instrumentation is PAINFULLY boring.

First new remix that I really dislike.

At the time the project plan was finalized, Xenoblade X was about to be released worldwide and Xenoblade 2 was in development. Plus the mech model (mainly the rifle) Sakurai said he was using for reference on a project hasn't appeared.

Plus Sakurai has stated his opinions on Bandana Dee, and while I don't agree with them, he's ultimately the one who creates the plan for Ultimate.

As someone who heavily supports both of these guys (they're actually 1 and 2 as of right now), nothing would make me happier than the "music theory" being debunked by Bandana Dee being revealed (But maybe after Elma gets revealed with Uncontrollable w/ as a music track).

We have 11 weeks left with 9 veteran series with their own emblem in the music list without a track. If they all get one, that leaves 2 weeks for unrepresented series/new series...also could get a new Mii-related track as well. Plus possibly a Mario Kart track that takes a week,

Getting kind of tight with potentially 0-2 open weeks left for music in the current way it is being handled.

But i'm feeling pretty good about Incineroar right now.

Even if there were credence to the theory, that in no way helps Incineroar over another Pokemon.
You seem to be conflating a single 'theory' with the general nature of leaks.

I would check out EarthBound and Mother 3. They're awesome games and have aged pretty well

But remember that those series are still listed under the Mario IP. There was never a singular music option. We also have to take in consideration that this isn't Brawl or Smash 4; Ice Climbers and Duck Hunt should practically have a icon, if we are listing series, but they're listed under "Others".

Again, with how much music you can get from the mainline Mario games and spin-offs, there's just no feasible way I can see that entire Mario list being 4+ hours long, given how Ultimate is also laying them out like a playlist.

Outside of Stage Builder, we've never really had a way of viewing the franchises in the way that we can see them in Smash ultimate so that's often why it's seen as odd to most people. The only reason I ever found out was because I saw the two mushroom icons in the august direct and thought it might be hinting at Geno, only for somebody to tell me about the stage builder thing which instantly debunked it.

The main point of the Mario Kart franchise being separate is that it wouldn't break the music theory if a Mario Kart song showed up. That's all that really matters here.

Mother 1 is a good game imo, good story and characters, but the leveling system is based around wandering I believe, so if you know where you're supposed to go, it becomes a grindfest.

Game came out right before the project plan.
Realistically proportioned, implementation is generally easier.
Has a unique moveset with guns, mechs, etc.

I respect BWD but boiled down he's just a waddle dee with a bandana, a spear, and a little bit of character. Elma definitely outweighs him when comparing their individual merits as fighters and characters.

Also, Japan really doesn't like XCX and they love BWD, so it's not like it would be Japan bias. It would be Sakurai bias.

But at the same time, Verg's been our most reliable source.


It doesn't mean he's guaranteed, but I'll put more stock in Incineroar over other choices when going into speculation due to this.

Even so, I just can't really see Mario Kart having its own icon this time around, because in a way it'd be pretty disrespectful to the other Mario spin-offs that are just as iconic as Mario Kart, such as Mario Party and so forth. If you were to ask people which Mario spin-off that broke more friendships than ever, most people would say Mario Party.

If I remember correctly, I think Sakurai was hesitant about making a generic enemy (referencing the Waddle Dees in general) playable in Smash.

However, I don't have any sources, so take that statement w/ a grain of salt.
