How would the roster of Ultimate look good in your eyes?

Which veterans would you cut and which newcomers would you add?

It'd look like this.

I'd keep all five of the unique newcomers. Daisy and Damus are made into Isabelle-esque semi-clones. Many popular/proposed newcomers are added, as well as a couple surprises.

The base roster wouldn't be quite this big without postponing the game, but this is what it'd look like after DLC.

Thanks to 's remote bombs and lack of tether, there is more of a reason to have the small Links than ever. Anyone who doesn't at least keep Toon Link is a bad person.

why is Gothette in a lot of rosters lately? Was it always popular?

The only thing I disagree with is Gardevior and Gothitelle, though. Still would be an insta-buy for me.

Personally I'd say it could use a bit more Crash and/or Celica and a bit less Gothitelle, but hey, that's a pretty great roster.

Darn it, I knew I shouldn't have added Gothitelle... I only added her so I could Represent every Generation Of Pokemon...
I was gonna have Victini as the Gen V Rep and Plusle and Minun as the Gen 3 rep (as A reference to them being possibly scrapped from Brawl) But i didn't want to upset people by having the first three Generations represented by Pikachu clones...

So, after seeing Crafted Yoshi, I'm fairly confident that Vergeben AND the 108 stages can co-exist without having to necessarily add more characters than what Vergeben's saying right now.


Let's begin:


1# A Sun/Moon stage.


This one's blatantly obvious. Odyssey got a stage, BotW got a stage, I legit cannot see Pokemon not getting one at this point. Isabelle didn't get one, no, but at the same time, we already have 3 stages that more or less encompass the entirety of Animal Crossing as is,


2# A Crafted World stage.

Why was Wooly World scrapped? I think most people thought the same thing. Now that we see Crafted Yoshi though, it's painfully obvious why.

Just like how the WW stage came out before the game did, we're getting a Crafted World stage.


3# A Minecraft stage.

I'm pretty confident that "Minecraft content" in Verge's leak is a Minecraft stage. It could be less, but I'm highly doubtful.


4# The "2nd SE rep" stage.

Depending on who it is, they'll get a stage. We have no idea if they're base game or not yet, but my money's on base roster.


5# The only unknown.

This could be anything.

It could be Tetris. It could be a series without a playable fighter. Or it could be a brand new IP with a final, hidden newcomer ala K.Rool. We just don't know.

Anyone suspect that DLC won't be supported? It depends on who has more control, if Sakurai has his way I could see the base game being it, but if Nintendo has more control then maybe a DLC cycle.

I see some people talking about Dragon Quest, and that can only be a good thing. I looked into it, and apparently there's some kind of leak that may or may not involve the franchise? I'm trying not to get hyped, but if DQ makes it into Smash in any form, I'm going to be so extremely happy.

Here’s is an explanation of my characters

So here’s the run down of my roster. I know I had some odd choices but hopefully my explanation might help:

My roster has a whopping total of 87 characters. I admit - that’s a lot. I’m not even a have of large rosters but for what I wanted to create, it ended up being that big.

Aside from the confirmed newcomers, my roster includes 20 total characters including Echoes.

As Sakurai said, the entire roster has to be unlocked which I suspect a potebtial interactive story mode may be the main way to unlock them. So all of my characters except for DLC had to be unlocked.

In addition, I suspect this game may be the last Smash for a long time when it potentially (and enviably) reboots. That being said, I can see Nintendo slowly releasing DLC as time goes on so anywhere from 2019 to 2022 or beyond.

My roster mixes both launch and dlc characters do here’s my DLC line up in no particular order:

1. Decidueye
2. Springman
3. Ken Masters
4. Rex & Pyra
5. Crash
6. Heihachi
7. Scorpion
8. Master Chief

Of that list, Ken is the only Echo as I figured that a long DLC development period could help produce original fighters. Ken is in the DLC purely because I couldn’t justify Capcom getting all 3 out of the bat.

Reasonings

Some if my choices may seem strange while others maybe predictable.

1. Isaac: popular and fan demand since Brawl
2. Geno: same as above and also Mii costume.
3. Impa: iconic LoZ character/potential for Shiek Echo Uses a combination of BoTW inspired plus SS Impa look.
4. Shadow: leaks and absence of Assist Trophy. Would prefer Eggman as second Sonic Rep tho.
5. Isabelle: leaks and absence of Assist Trophy. Mii costume
6. Elma: popular character and Wii U representative. Dual gun and blade user.
7. Banjo-Kazooie: massively requested and iconic. Total hype character.
8. Decidueye: either this or Inciberor. Went with the owl. Gen 7 Rep. Pokken.
9. Lloyd Irving: Iconic JRPG character. Tales has a lasting legacy with Nintendo. GameCube era icon. Mii costume.
10. Shadow Mewtwo: easy to implement Echo and Pokken rep. More eviler than mewtwo. Pokémon’s villain.
11. Dixie Kong: detests the idea of her being an echo but it looks like it’ll happen.
12. Rhythm Heaven (tentative name): represents the whole series in the moveset. Different characters. RH was potentially supposed to get a character in a Smash 4.
13. Skull Kid: no Assist Trophy. Popular Zelda villain. Zelda’s Ridley/Dark Samus and Simon/Richter situation and possibly K Rool and Dixie.
14. Ken Masters: original echo. Easy to implement. Trophy.
15. Springman: Represents the Switch. Moderately well-liked. Antithesis of Little Mac.
16. Rex & Pyra: Switch Rep. from popular new game. Potentially interesting gameplay mechanic.
17. Crash Bandicoot: gaming icon. Would be an impact in the gaming community.
18. Scorpion: an oddball choice. Represents Western fighting games. Kirby saying “Get over here”. Blood and violence can be toned down but make Scorpion even more savage. Villain.
19. Heihachi: prefer Nightmare or KOS-MOS but an iconic character. Villain.
20. Master Chief: mr Shooting game. Hype beyond hype. End of the intetrnet. Smash wins bet game for eternity hands down.

I don't recognize any Sonic characters added after Sonic & Knuckles (Amy may have actually existed... it's been a while since I've played tbh). But I don't like any of the newer 3D Sanic chars :0

I'd only add Lucas in if his playstyle was completely (not *mostly like it is now) different from Ness'

And James Bond... Yeah I really think the "007 64" character looking all blocky like in the original game would be a cool throwback, but not James Bond himself lol

They were willing to do DLC for Smash 4, agame on a console that released dead, but you actually believe they won’t push for it on a well-selling console on their arguably most popular series with this much internet exposure?

If they don’t do DLC make me the CEO because I would know how to make money more than whoever made that decision.

DLC for Ultimate will be free money. Nintendo is a company. Do the math. We are getting DLC. You don’t want DLC? Don’t pay for it it literally will have zero impact on you.

On the other hand, Sakurai has also said that as long as people enjoy Smash Bros. and continue to ask for it, he will continue to make it.

Either way, I think DLC is almost completely guaranteed.

None because I value other people’s characters and recognize the game wasn’t made just for me.

No matter how much I despise a character once they are here I can accept them because they made someone else happy. Sounds dumb typing this up but I really think like that. I don’t understand why others here so desperately want to rip that away just because they don’t like looking at a character.

EDIT: Except Miis. I just can’t understand why anyone likes them. I still wouldn’t want them removed though.

Sonic, but that's only if I had to cut a character. For this game in particular, cuts are pointless.
