So what are some of your favorite series that are in Smash? I ****s with Mega Man(and MMX), Metroid, Mario, Street Fighter, DK, Mario Kart, Yoshi, Kirby, Pokemon and to a lesser extent Zelda, Pac-Man and Sonic.

I was planning to get more into Punch-Out!!(I played the first one a bit), Castlevania(see Punch-Out!!) and Bayonetta.

And I'd like to see more Tekken content since it's my favorite fighting series and Tekken 3 was the first game I remember playing.

I'm mainly into Zelda, Fire Emblem, Mario, DK, Pikmin, Pokemon (the earlier games), and Bayonetta.

Play a bit of Metroid, Sonic, Kirby, and Yoshi too, but not as much. Earthbound was dope, but never played any other Mother games

The only thing Isabelle being a clone really changes is now clones are an option where people just assumed they were doing echos.

This gives Dixie and Shadow more support/probability.

Isabelle is a part of Vergeben's leak and was there before leaks echos were a thing why'd you think she'd tear down the status quo?

I don't even get the appealing of Waluigi to begin with and for what all because of some freakin memes?

It's not just memes. The guy has some of the most personality of the Mario cast. And he's a total scumbag, yet he's in love with himself and tries to look cool all the time, if a lot of his win poses are any indication. And he's always shown to be in comedic situations with Wario and stuff. Sure, he's just some dude who's only around for spin-off games, but he's hardly in the background because's he's kind of interesting compared to Mario, Peach and Bowser.

The only thing I have to wonder is:


Who REALLY would be the 2nd SE rep if it's not Geno?

I legit cannot imagine a 2nd Final Fantasy character not from 7 due to the licensing issues with FF music.

Crono, who is at least popular. Lara Croft is another icon. Sora, but I Reeeeeeeeeaaaaaally doubt that with how they gotta go through Disney first.

For real. Everyone hating on Isabelle needs to chill out (not here, but just the internet in general). Everyone assumed she was gonna be in anyway, so why all the salt now. Skull Kid/Issac/Bandanna Dee/Elma/Banjo-Kazooie/Geno/Whoever can be revealed during another direct or event

If I had to take a guess...2B for Nier Automata? She might be the easiest one to bring in seeing as how she doesn't have any licesing issues (that I know of),
her game was pretty huge last year. I don't know what Dragon Quest is about, so I'd say here if we absolutely have to have a second Square rep.

Well, I must say I wasn't expecting much today, but we didn't even get as much as I was expecting. It seems we're now coming down to the wire on the number of newcomers left. Speculation is starting to get down to that point where now everyone is competition for everyone else.

I'm guessing there'll be another Smash direct/50 facts where we'll probably get another two uniques and a handful of echoes, but that may be about it. Maybe both...? That does seem to be pushing it though... I wonder what else Sakurai has up his sleeves...and how long we're going to have to wait for it.

Yeah, one Lucas-level semi-clone isn't going to sate us for long at all.

That is a very true statement.

I'm trying my hardest not to get hyped over this announcement, but even seeing Dovahkiin's chances shoot from a 0% to a 1% is really really exciting. Even for DLC, bring him on!

Dragon Quest is the last big NES era Japan-developed game series to not be included. That's a big one.

You've also got Lara Croft, as Tomb Raider is very well known.

Sora might have some licensing issues from Disney but Square is cool with having him so that's another option.

There are also more niche characters like Neku or Chrono (if we're shooting for Geno, these guys are about as recognizable).

Tifa or Sephiroth would work too, without needing much in terms of assets from another game.

There could also be the option for a post-Uematsu FF character like Lightning or Noctis.

The option for an earlier FF character seems at least possible, and I don't think Sakurai would let music stop him from adding a character (there would probably just be two tracks again from that game, which sucks but you can't do much about it).

I'm pretty sure when it comes from the Ballot. Isabelle didn't get a lot of support. Her being an Assist Trophy already caused many people to give up on her early and go for other options.
Again, not to discredit her. She is deserving. But I do feel she got half of her supporters in Ultimate thanks to the Vergeben leak that raised awareness on how likely she was to get in.

I feel for a second SE rep that Lara Croft makes the most sense. She is without a doubt one of their most recognizable e characters after all alongside Cloud who is already in and being iconic with a huge history in video games.

I'm glad they put in a character who meshed in with the announcement of another game, in a fashion that doesn't completely steal the thunder of the entire Direct.
I'm excited to try Isabelle out. She was a regular and comforting sight back when I played New Leaf. And her alternate outfits are adorable.

He then displayed some wistful longing to join as well, as two of his fellows joined Smash. Who does this mirror? Chrom, who had his best friend and daughter join Smash 4 while he got his chance another day.

Where am I going with this?

Tom Nook is going to be Robin's Final Smash partner in Pair-Up.

Just have Robin yell "Tom!" instead of "Chrom!" and have Nook whack the foe with a bag of bells.

Lock it in. This is 100% confirmed, folks.

It's like, over 75 million in sales. Granted, it's mostly big in Japan but still. It's the grandfather of turn-based JRPGs. A lot of the conventions in Final Fantasy and the like come from DQ, and the Mother series parodies it.

It's a big deal in Japan, and is one of the founding pillars of the JRPG formula alongside Final Fantasy. It's been going strong since 1986 and the newest game, DQ11, is supposed to hit Switch next year I believe. It's also spawned a number of spin off titles, much like Final Fantasy.

Salt does a lot to some people dude. Can't say much else. And all you asked was why he was popular.

Sure, he won't be playable this time around, but if said support is kept up, he'll probably make it into a future title if need be. Not that it excused the amount of ****ery some Waluigi fans have been pulling, but that's hardly the entire group of them.

If anything, Final Fantasy is gonna have the biggest boost in popularity, thanks to the Switch's install base. XII will have a rekindled community, VII is gonna be in more hands than ever, it's gonna be a ****ing amazing time to be a Switch owner in 2019, I tell you.

If you consider Wolf a semi-clone, then go ahead and call Isabelle one to. You can even call Jigglypuff one for all I care. But I don't think a few similar moves when almost all of her normals seem to be totally unique is enough to call her a clone over.

You honestly wouldn't need more music for another Final Fantasy 7 character, they could just reuse one of the same tracks from what's already inside the game. I think that's kinda a flimsy idea to go off of.
But even outside of FF7, there's Terra, a general Black Mage, Lara Croft, Edrick, Agnes, and Crono.
There's a lot of viable characters outside of Geno, especially with larger fanbases than his and even considered more recognizable, especially compared to him, to the average player.
That's honestly why I definitely don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for us to not even get him in this game.

I mean if you subscribe to the Mii costume theory, which I'm kind of unsure on, Tails would fit way better than Shadow would.
Especially outside of it, considering that he's more iconic and is more fitting for something alongside Isabelle's motif. Which where she derives from the other character, but has a mostly original and unique moveset.
But yeah, I could definitely see Dixie getting in if they give her the same amount of effort.

I recommend starting with Final Fantasy VII and then play Final Fantasy IX. VII is a bit of a "introducer" when it comes to RPGs, I feel like, and then IX will hit you WITH THAT REALLY GOOD ****.

Final Fantasy VII is iconic, but trust me dude. Final Fantasy IX is the Xenoblade Chronicles of the PS1/N64 generation. GODLIKE.
