Nobody really likes NSMB anymore after how hard it was milked. It's just a hollow series made to put a new Mario on a console. There's no real heart or soul put into it. There's better party games.

This is true. Shame because NSMB Ds and wii were great fun and a balanced difficulty

I wonder how was her performance at the Ballot. She is not visible in the smash community but so wasn't Bayonetta.

I guess that would make that persons word from now on gospel wouldn’t it? Seriously, until we know more it’s incredibly easy for him to just have gotten lucky.


If we’re going by this logic then Shulk is an easy Semi clone of Ike. Near exact same jab, similar dash attack, same grab, similar throws, a similar up special,and a down b counter. Similarities can go a long way when there’s nearly 80 characters.

The word "semi" means "half", so perhaps its a stretch to say she's a half clone, thats true, but its also just a fan created term that's nothing more than a loose way to describe a character that has some direct overlap with another character. You should really calm down, as it doesn't matter nearly as much as you think it does. Also that Shulk example is beyond stretching.

Isabelle is rather unique, but you can see the Villager influence in her moves, and several aren't just similar, but basically straight copies. Semi-clone is the best term we have for that. If you don't like it, create your own term if it makes you feel better.

I'm not trying to be a ****, but arguing with people about this intangible, fanmade term seems pretty silly. Its pretty clear that Isabelle is mostly unique.

I believe this is inaccurate. Bayonetta wasn't exactly Geno but she was certainly a name that got passed around (and immediately shut down cause too sexy for smash)

Thing is, turning off hazards might also turn off MKU's transformations, which would suck, but it makes sense given how other stages change.

I agree with what you said on NSMBW and NSMBU/NSLU though. I really loved playing through those games, and I feel like they get a worse rap than they deserve.

Also, I disagree on the handheld games being lacking in quality. NSMB DS was a great game IMO, one of my favorite DS games, personally. Also, it was the first NSMB in the series, so it makes sense why it was so different. NSMB2 is a little different, but I believe it was still a pretty good game.

I'm just going to admit that I didn't play NSMB2, but NSMB for the DS was really a very mediocre title. I give games zero credit for which console they were on or the order they came out, and as far as I'm concerned, if you're 2d Mario, you have to stack up in overall quality to SMB3 and SMW or else I'm not going to respect you. Played in their proper context in mutliplayer, I really do feel that NSMBWii and NSMBU did achieve that. I can't agree at all that NSMB for the DS did mostly because its level design was just plain a lot less inspired without even the simple/fun to play thing going on that SMB1 or Lost Levels had (though let's be honest, within simple mechanics Lost Levels had fiendishly smart level design; great game!).

I see no particular reason to believe that Mushroom Kingdom U won't transform with hazards off. Sure Frigate Orpheon doesn't transform, but Prism Tower still tours and the platforms still change between their two layouts on Town and City. I suspect transforming stages will still transform if the forms are distinct and the transition is non-dangerous which would be the case for Mushroom Kingdom U. It is also true that the hazard toggle doesn't seem to always follow consistent rules so maybe it won't just arbitrarily, but we have no reason to suspect at this time that this stage won't transform with hazards off.

Yeah pretty much. We got all the warriors....or damn near all the warriors. Isaac is the only major Nintendo character I'd REALLY want, since Spring Man ain't base game I don't think. Dixie and Incineroar would still be cool though, but it's no skin off my back if they don't make it this entry.

Even with Chrom and Isabelle, people I actively can't give a **** about, I'm happy for other people like Opossum or Tree Gelbman .

Unless we also get Mega Man X, Jin Kazama and/or Ryu Hayabusa in a later title or DLC or whatever, this is the best timeline for me.

It's all good. The speculation scene is as alive as ever, if not more so now. The ramifications of Isabelle's inclusion as a unique fighter are quite large, which is honestly exciting.

How reveals go down is as such:

• Incineroar in a Pokémon Nintendo Direct for Lets Go
• Lloyd and Erdrick at TGS behind closed doors, then as a general trailer shortly after
• Tails and Shadow in an October livestream trailer
• Chorus Kids at the beginning of a November Smash Bros. Direct, Ken and Dixie in the middle as echoes, Dante at the end, and Banjo as the closer.

The picks below the roster are potential DLC. Isaac, Rex & Pyra, Geno, Sora, or Rayman would be the first DLC character.

P.S. the most recent Dante leak likely isn't a lucky guess. I'm not willing to bet anything on it, but I will assert that until Dante is revealed.

Maaaaaybe I'm more interested in Dante now, for the memes.

For the record, whenever I say I'm not interesting in a character, it means there's nothing about that character that I've ever attached to. I've never played DMC or anything and nothing about what I do know about him seems particularly interesting to me. If he got announced... well, I get hype for every character, but it wouldn't have the same oomph as when I found out Inkling, K. Rool, Ridley, or Isabelle were in the game. I would definitely be happy for people who actively want him.

Eh I dislike the 3ds style graphics (see Ghost design) and cartoony atmosphere.

Luigis' mansion on GameCube had such a better feel with the music and atmosphere imo.

I'd be pretty fine with this outcome. The only thing I'd change is Black Knight. We do not need anymore Fire Emblem characters in this game, especially ones that play identically to another character.

It could literally just come down to SE saying no.
Like that's all that matters with Geno's inclusion. Not just Sakurai wanting him given he's a third party.
If I'm correct, having the license for a costume doesn't actually equate to having one for a playable character.
Also Sakurai could find a character from the wide breadth of Square Enix franchises to utilize instead. It's not that complicated.

Don't get me wrong, I think Geno is likely. If he doesn't get into the base game, well there's a chance for DLC. But there's a very real possibility of him just straight up not getting in.
