Man, I've been playing Super Mario RPG for the first time. I don't really understand the Geno love, and I'd much prefer Mallow. Oh well.

I going into this Direct wanting Skull Kid and Bandana Dee. But I'm kinda expecting a Pokemon. Who I'm more of the opinion it will be Tapu Koko, maybe Lycanroc.


Definitely don't think it will be Incineroar

I still don't know where all this Incineroar assurance came from.

No joke in what I'm about to say, but I have a little theory that this game could feature a villain or rival for all the O12. Not necessarely a heroes vs villains thing, but more like a wink to the original characters.

We got:
1-Mario - Bowser
2-Luigi - Bowser
3-Pikachu - Mewtwo/Incineroar
4-Link - Ganondorf
5-Fox - Wolf
6-Samus - Ridley/Dark Samus
7-Kirby - Metaknight
8-Yoshi - Boshi
9-Captain - Black Shadow
10-Jiggs - Mewtwo/Incineroar
11-Ness - Porky
12-DK - K.Rool

That means we still have left Boshi, Black Shadow and Porky. The first two could be easy echoes, but Porky would have to be unique. Obviously this is something I've been thinking that has a slim chance to actually become a thing, but hey, they would be cool for the story mode and stuff.

They might just do it for original 8. Then only Boshi (or if you want to be lazy, Bowser Jr/Bowser) is enough.

Which would make more sense, honestly.

edit: for clarification, Nintendo is reapplying for that trademark again. Reminder that the original game came out in 2001. Just having musics or trophies in Smash is enough to get a reapply for the trademark, which happened with Rhythm Heaven.

I think that 8-bit Mario would make a really cool WTF character.

Up Special: Spring - just like Sonic's, a spring spawns and Mario hops of it.
Side Special: Shell Shot - Mario shoots out an 8-bit Koopa shell, which bounces three times before despawning. If you jump on the shell it stops, and eventually a Koopa walks around the stage. Sometimes these are Buzzy Beetles which deal more damage, and rarely they are Spinies which deal heaps of knockback.
Standard Special: Hammer - Mario throws a Hammer Bro. hammer in an arc. He can spam up to three at once.
Down Special: Poison Mushroom - Mario drops a Poison Mushroom from the Lost Levels which moves slowly towards the opponent. It deals no knockback or flinch, but does do 20% damage. Only one can be on the stage at a time.

I see him as a zone type character with plenty of projectiles at his disposal.

Up Smash would be Mario breaking an overhead block, Side Smash Mario would gain a Fire Flower and emit a blast like regular Mario, and Down Smash would have Mario spawn a Piranha Plant on either side of him kinda like Pac-Mans.

It's actually more akin to having Wario before Bowser, which is just as acceptable.

Well since the development of SSBU is short and Sakurai said don't expect a lot of newcomers and he introduced echo fighters so he could expand the roster I can easily see Boshi making it into smash before Kamek

And Yes I think everyone knows Kamek is the better rival but Boshi takes less time to develop

Nintendo would often renew Eternal Darkness...I think? (That game where you had the sanity meter, and once empty the character go crazy, volume gets muted, and sometimes your game crashes then resumes) Mr. Imade, I think for every renew that game had, that game got a port.

Even having Birdo as a rival to Yoshi would be a better idea, and even then she mostly just squares off against him in spin-offs.

I don't care if Kamek gets the "generic enemy" argument, he has to be in someday. With or without Poochy as Yoshi's sidekick.

Okay, you see, Isaac in Smash? That'd be incredibly cool to me, been advocating for that ever since the first game launched.

But a N E W game, for the Switch maybe even? Sign me the flipflop up. That's hypeworthy!


...Might just be a renewal of the trademark 'cause he has a trophy or AT in the game, as Trademarks get made for very much unrelated stuff or even to decieve people all the time. See: Blizzard.

Oh, I'm sorry that the game was so well designed that even the SIDE characters (i.e. Boshi) are memorable...

It's not the only case when people want a one-shot character from an old game. People have right to root for who the heck they want. Also adding an echo really harms noone.

He appears as a enemy in Super Mario RPG. After the group defeated him, he gave the group a important item. Then, he was never seen or heard again from the future Nintendo games.

In Super Mario RPG, Boshi was the Yoshi that assumed power on Yo'ster Island by winning the Yoshi races. Once he gained power, he banned every Yoshi from competing except him so he could maintain power. You end up coaxing him with Yoshi Cookies to challenge him to a race riding Yoshi to oust him out of power. He is essentially the opposite of Yoshi

I don't think there is a bias for that game spesifically. It's an old game. Smash fandom loves old games.

That's very true considering what the most wanted characters of everyone is. Feels like the only newer characters are Incineroar and the Xenoblade characters unless I'm mistaken.

Here's a fun challenge. Give every character a home stage. It can be a stage already in the game, a missing stage or a brand new one! However, it's only 1 stage per character so no duplicates and they have to be from the character's franchise

The Skull Kid everyone wants with Majora's Mask only appeared in one game, unless you count its remake and Hyrule Warriors.

Yeah, but the issue is that only the one wearing the Majora mask counts. Nintendo wouldn't take his Hyrule Warriors appearance or anything else Omega Force into account, either.

Nobody cared about who he was before he put on the mask.
