But yeah, I've made my point on Ken and his influence for fighting games.

If Ken got in I would have a character I actually like to use for Ryu's moveset.

You realize echoes can have altered properties on their moves so long as their general movesets stay the same, right?

Dark Pit can't angle his arrows as much as bit, Lucy and Chrom don't have tippers, Dark Samus's morph bomb jump sends her more forwards then upwards, ect. Not to mention that Chrom has a completely different Up-B then Roy altogether. They could easily make those changes and keep Ken a semi-clone.

I have several problems with this statement.

I don't want a any character just for the sake of them finally becoming playable in a fighting game. I want them in because it's freakin' Smash brothers.

Might as well scratch characters with 2D platforms since they get to shine in their respective 2D environments.

Smash is a celebration of not just gaming but also of gaming as a whole like you just said. And be as it may, fighting games are a big part of it not to mention it is the genre that inspired smash after all. So having one extra fighting game character in a roster of 70+ characters isn't that big of a deal.

It isn't a big deal, but it's still what I'm basing my opinion on. I've mained Ken in two different games. I've had plenty of chances to play as him in a fighter. But Shadow fans? Dixie fans? Daisy? Chrom? Dark Samus? Their echoes get a first chance. Ken lacks that same appeal. So while an echo character may not take as much effort as a legitimate newcomer, Ken still takes the spot of another possible echo whose fanbase would actually get a chance to use that character for the first time in a fighting game.

Again, I like Ken. I just disagree with the idea that Street Fighter needs another addition at all. Then again, I'm also a Nintendo purist that still thinks Cloud shouldn't have been added, so I know I'm in the minority on these things.

Yes. Partially because he looks super cool and I like bearded characters, and partially because it would make him look extremely unique among the other "anime" styled characters. I know his moves would make him unique already, but combine Earthbending with older bearded man and you've got a winner.

If Isaac got in, I'd expect his original design though.

Having Chun-Li would be nice tho. Especially if her legs aren't toned down too much.
