I'm betting now that every character that's placed within the Dengeki Top 10 will be in Smash Bros, whether through the base roster or as DLC. Japanese fan demand is a big deal, and it seems that most, if not every character who's placed has worldwide support. The list of characters is:
The top 5 from the last poll who were excluded (These guys are practically locks as far as I'm concerned):

• Isaac
• Sora
• K. Rool
• Chrom
• Arle Nadja

And the top 10 from the most recent poll:

• Skull Kid
• Bandana Dee
• Lloyd Irving
• Banjo & Kazooie
• Paper Mario
• Rex & Pyra
• Magalor
• Spring Man
• Geno
• Dixie Kong

Of course, this likely wouldn't be everything, as I'd expect some oddball picks like Dante or (hopefully) Joker/Yu Narukami, but what would guys think if these were all of the unique newcomers for the game (in the base roster and as DLC)

For me? It's nearly perfect. Add Joker/Yu Narukami and it is perfect in my book.

I don't think Arle is a lock, would be neat to have more puzzle representation though.

If Laura's right she's probably talking about Daemon X Machina, If I remember correctly, you could destroy the city and use the debris to your advantage. Promoting a game that would encourage destroying cities after the earthquake would ABSOLUTELY be rough, especially if it got a rather large portion of the direct

It looks great to me. I'd also want a Persona protag and some picks are disappointing but overall newcomers look good. I'm happy later list includes some of the newer characters as well.

Out of the Smash thoeries I've heard. The Trailer delay because of Isaac's Earthquake is the most ridiculous one I have ever heard. And is incredibly disrespectful. This is the kind of things that some fans do that makes some people turn against a character's inclusion.

A game already leaked. Some of the boards seem to be against leaks today, so I will honor that and post nothing. Anyone curious enough to find it will find it. It’s very easy to find on google now.

Square Enix, Capcom, Arc System Works, Namco Bandai, Atlus, Konami, SEGA, Blizzard, Ubisoft, From Software, Bethesda, Platinum, BioWare, MonolithSoft, Activision, Naugthy Dog, Rockstar, Valve, SNK, Netherrealm and EA.

Both Microsoft and Sony have given special permission to certain characters.
The game will be treated as a celebration of the history of Video Games.

Super Smash Land actually had Vaporeon as a secret character (alongside Mega Man). Blue was an OC in Super Smash Flash, which is completely unrelated to SSL.

You guys should see some of the pictures of Hokkaido on twitter, it's insane the damage that was caused. Not surprised that they cancelled the direct, especially if what Laura Kate Dale said on twitter is true.

Back ontopic, there's three options that I can think of for Nintendo right now, especially with the Famitsu column coming out Thursday that supposedly goes over everything in the direct:

1. Have the Direct sometime before Thursday, maybe even Monday or Tuesday to prevent the scans of Famitsu that usually get uploaded before release. This way they can get all their info out before it either gets leaked or appears in Famitsu.

2. Speak to Famitsu and ask them to remove the column on the direct for this week. This is dependant entirely on whether they've shipped it or not however, and also doesn't help them from leaks.

3. Say "screw the direct" and just slowly give out news through their youtube channel. This one seems the least likely to me, but it would help against info getting leaked.

Either way, they're gonna have to do something, as this has thrown their entire schedule out of wack.

Shoot... This is really upsetting to hear. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families at this time... I couldn't imagine going through something like this. For anyone here residing in and around the the affected areas, please stay safe!

With that being said I'm glad Nintendo delayed the direct, as excited as I'm sure most of us were. The country is facing a national emergency and it's best to save this for another time that's more appropriate. I personally don't care when the direct is delayed to as it's really not a major priority with everything going on, but I can't imagine it'd be more than a week at maximum, they can't afford to wait too long with their online service coming out in a few weeks.

Again, my prayers to those affected.

Here's an idea similar to the "12/26 Man Roster Game":

Who here knows the fan game Super Smash Land, the GameBoy styled demake of Smash Bros. that features and ? Whether or not you might know where I'm going with this, here's the game:

Make a hypothetical roster for a DS Smash Bros. game. The limitations for this are:
1. The roster must be comprised of 16 characters.
2. The cast must be made of characters who debuted in 2005 or earlier. (For example, no 4th generation Pokémon)
3. You must consider system limitations, meaning that certain mechanics cannot work, such as transforming/swapping characters, Pikmin always following Olimar, and having Nana alongside Popo.
4. Each franchise is limited to 3 representatives at maximum. (DK, Yoshi and Wario are separate from Mario)
5. Only 1 3rd Party character is allowed on the roster. It's completely optional, though.
6. History of characters in Smash doesn't apply, so you can replace Pichu with a different Johto Pokémon for all I care, or exclude DK and Fox, knock yourselves out. However, the roster is required to have NO MATTER WHAT.

Now with that all said and done, have fun. I will be making my roster later, as I have a class starting in a few minutes.

It is hyperbole how leaks are treated in this thread, but it does kind of kill the excitement of watching it in real time if you already know what the surprise is.

My brother and I held off on watching the direct that surprised everyone with Inklings and the Smash logo until we both got off work, but of course friends texted both of us with the news before we got to watch it. It was certainly a bummer.
