Yea. Both seem pushed and popular, but what I always keep in mind is this game's project plan happened way before the anime aired, and even then, the anime didn't immediately give Ash a Lycanroc. So I don't think the anime pushing specific Pokemon is as important this time around as before. If there is a new Pokemon I wouldn't be surprised if Sakurai was given several choices by the Pokemon staff from what they thought would end up popular and he chose who he believed fit in Smash the best.

Using that as a basis, Pokemon who may be added include:

• Incineroar, an Ash's Torracat is looking like evolving eventually.
• Lycanroc, one of Ash's aces.
• Bewear, a Jigglypuff type. (ATed)
• Zeraora, the mythical Pokemon featured in the latest Pokemon film.
• Rowlet, the first Pokemon Ash caught in Alola who also stays outside of it's Pokeball like Pikachu.

I was going to list an Echo, but nobody fits his proportions right. The most similar character uses a very different weapon and body design, being Leo D'Nardo... who is actu
Wyvern/Red Wyvern as a combo Assist Trophy(would be able to show up as either version first, but the other one immediately helps out too)
Stage: Isle of Skye(I already talked about it in the Stage Creation Contest thread), but it basically is a combination of Blue Cave, Crystal Valley, and Isle of Skye itself. It has 4 hazards, being Termant(Earth), Pixie(Wind), Thunder Jell(Fire), and Grangach(Water). While the monsters aren't literally tied to the elements mentioned entirely, their attacks are focused on that idea.
Costumes: All are just simplistic colors, having the usual Red/Blue/Yellow/Green as well. No alts.
Franchise Trophies: Were Hare, Big Mouth, Were Cat, Wyvern, Red Wyvern, Brian, Mammon, Shannon Stork, Nightmare
Stage Music: Battle Music, Boss Battle Music, Final Boss Music, Isle of Skye, Blue Cave, Crystal Valley, Normoon
Reveal Trailer: I haven't put much thought into it, but Brian taking out 4 villains with a move from each element seems like an ideal way to start it off. The tagline could work as "Brian Spells Your Doom!"

Amaterasu (Okami)
Echo fighter: Shiranui, previous incarnation/(Father in English version)Mother of Amaterasu
Assist Trophy: Waka
Stage: Kamiki Village, the first location in the game. A village at the base of a hill surrounded by water, with a stream passing through it. The stage will be flat, and on ground level with a bridge in the middle. Overtime, Orochi, the eight headed snake demon will appear, causing chaos for the villagers attacking with bites and elemental attacks, and causing the a huge wave to wash away the bridge and any players on it before he attacks the players the same way.
He'll continue attacking the players until the players attacks at least three different heads, on rare events in 8 player Smash you will have to attack all eight heads. After defeating Orochi, players will be transported to the River of the Heavens where you be able to fight on a flat Omega-esque stage for a while before your transported back to Kamiki Village.
Fighter Costumes: Red, Sky Blue, Green, Black, Brown, Gray,
Franchise Trophies: Chibiterasu, Waka, Sakuya, Mr. & Ms. Orange, Susano, Kushi, Orochi, Issun, and Shiranui.
Stage music: The Sun Rises, Orca's Theme, Ryoshima Coast(2 songs in one), Southern Ryoshima Coast, Kushi's Ride, Tama's theme, Theme of the Celestials
Reveal Trailer: The Art of Combat - The Blue, and Orange Inklings are struggling against DJ Octavia, when Amaterasu attacks him with an ink Power Slash, and send Octavio flying. Seeing the ink, and mistaking Amaterasu for a new ink rival for turf wars the Inklings attack. Amaterasu mark them with the Thunderbolt symbol, and lightning strikes the two of them, sending them flying

Incoming splash panel: Amaterasu Draws the Line.

After the gameplay, Palutena, and Bayonetta appear to fight Amaterasu. The two fighters clash against Amaterasu, causing an massive explosion to be seen from miles away

The question I have is, will Incineroar/whoever be the standalone reveal, or will he be shown off right after the Let's Go stuff, with something later?

I could totally see Masuda present the Incineroar trailer and then later in the Direct we get Skull Kid to close it or something.

It's pretty well liked, being the most useful Starter gameplay wise can get you far.

Helps that the design is pretty good too.

I'm predicting a character reveal right at the beginning and right at the end. I don't think there will be any echoes and no appearance from Sakurai. If I had to guess I'd say the two reveals are Skull Kid and Isaac. Just because those are the two that have been hinted at most recently. Nothing on Spirits. Nothing on any other mode. No other characters. Simple, short, and sweet.



Or just one character at the very end, probably Skull Kid, I see no other scenario. I don't think they'll avoid Smash and I don't think they'll do a blowout.

Part of me thinks that if we get a Pokémon Sun and Moon newcomer, that it'll just be Rowlet.

People wanted Decidueye because they wanted another Grass starter after Charizard and Greninja. But now that Pokémon Trainer is back, they round out the starter trio by themselves since Squirtle and Ivysaur are returning. More importantly, it means that no one should feel limited to only wanting fully evolved Pokémon anymore.

All that, and Rowlet's extreme popularity, make Rowlet suddenly seem like a perfect fit. People are split on Decidueye's design, but EVERYONE loves Rowlet.

I truly cannot find the article that I thought I read a couple of years back. I can find information from Game Freak, stating Sakurai does choose the Pokemon (among promotion), but I will keep searching. I truly remember reading an entire piece about how he does choose, but from a given selection (rather, that TPC has veto power, though I'm poorly paraphrasing).

Somehow the internet seems broken. Source gaming, officialnintendomagazine.co.uk, and a bunch of others will not load...

I'm gonna reiterate a Fatal Frame rep for newcomer. Dixie for echo. They aren't gonna wanna reveal a FF rep without a actually requested character also revealed to keep people from getting mad.
This Smash feels like Nintendo read my diary and built it for me (LttP Zelda, OoT Dorf, Pichu, Squad Strike, Ridley, K Rool, etc), so it could happen. Maybe...

I dunno if this has been posted yet at all, since it's been 10 hours from this going live, but that one huge poll the fanmade news account for Smash Ultimate made finally got the results, and it's pretty interesting, to say the least.

BUT THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS REX IS STILL TOP TEN AND BANJO IS STILL THE KING, BAYBEEEEE!

They meant a unique character from Zero, like Mio, and an echo for them also from Zero, like Yuri.

I had the same thought! Even if Sans is an option.
Clearly announcements and what is going on at a given time affected that list dramatically.
Because every game being ported to the Switch somehow makes the character from that game a *shoo-in*

Yea I think I'm all in on a Pokemon newcomer being revealed tomorrow. It seems like it'd fit pretty well in a Nintendo direct. While a Smash directs makes the most sense for the fan favorites.

I'm calling Incineroar. No take backs. Sticking with this. I was seriously skeptical we'd get a new Pokemon not that long ago but now I feel pretty sure we're getting one.

1 newcomer, maybe 2. No echoes, as those are saved only for Smash Bros. Directs.

Besides, everyone knows that lazy bones Sans would never fight unless absolutely forced. The Great Papyrus is the superior choice.
