Can I get sources for most, if not every one of these?

Went and got them myself because I'm a strong and independent.
I wasn't able to get the ResetEra accounts because I don't have a ResetEra account nor am I willing to make one at this point, but here are all the ones I could find.

Most of it comes off as teases and reports on said teases, but some of them could potentially be legitimate.

I'm not sure if Joe counts.

He doesn't have anything pertaining to a Direct on his twitter. Did he tease it on ResetEra?

If it clears the air at all, I do understand why you don’t see it as a “rule breaking” scenario. Bayonetta doing this once isn’t necessarily going to change things for the rest.

Ridley, as a semi-realistic character, was shrunk down to fit the roster. That probably made Sakurai cringe a little. I don’t see him doing it again with another realistic(ish) character without exceptional fan demand.

We already know the DLC characters will likely be fan-favorites developed after the initial roster to please the demand the characters got.

So really, why be upset if the character isn't in the base game? If they're actually logical to include after the fact, then chances are that they will absolutely have a high chance of being DLC.

See I don't really believe in "rules", but I also don't believe Sakurai would put in Goku or Asura from Asura's Wrath.

Bruh that's just cheap but it's also a financial jackpot. I don't think people (nor Sakurai) would be too happy about it though.

I also have a feeling that we'll get anothet Pokémon rep in the DLC, whether it's the failed dream of Decidueye or Incineroar after one or neither get confirmed.

Anyone hoping that with the ability to fight and K.O. a large majority if ATs this time, they may reveal a battle option to let us select 1 or 2 assist trophies (out of 30 or so that can be K.O'd) to fight with us on cool down? Similar to chargeable Final Smashes. Think Marvel Vs Capcom, Pokken, and other fighters that let support characters come in and do attacks.

I doubt they're going to use a model like seasons or character packs or whatever. They'll probably just sell every character individually at whatever sporadic schedule suits them and allow you to buy characters that release simultaneously as a group (with no actual money savings for doing so, literal only benefit is fewer clicks in the eshop). This has two benefits. For one, such a simple sales model actually creates the appearance of them being more honest; generally the AAA industry's DLC sales practices are viewed as slimy with every bit of complexity just being a ploy to rip people off for more money so having a very straightforward sales model will actually increase consumer confidence. Even having a less rigid schedule than seasons works to this effect; I'm sure internally they have a clear dev cycle planned, but just spitting out content as it's ready creates more of an impression of "this is a bonus we made after the game came out" as opposed to "this is a part of what the game was always supposed to be and now we want more money from you". For two, since no one ever gets any discounts at all for various purchase patterns, they maximize profits, and they really have no reason to incentivize bundles anyway since huge percentages of their playerbase who would buy some DLC were going to buy it all anyway. Yeah, they're going to make a killing here, and I bet they know it already...

ARMS was in development for a long time before it released.
Just because we did not know a lot about it as fans does not mean Sakurai did not.
Nintendo *really* pushed that game. And it is their new fighting series. It seems it could be a base roster, where its free and best promotional.
And I think we will get an ARMS echo inherently. My guesses are Min Min/ Twintelle/ Helix, the three most popular characters.

And I know I'll get hell for, again, thinking Springman and Ribbongirl are unlikely. But I will go to my grave saying that as of the first game, they are not the mascots. As of now there is not a Mascot for ARMS, and we must wait for our Isabelle or Pikachu to emerge.

I can't lie, Smash Ultimate is probably the most hyped I've been for anything ever and any other announcement (games, television, manga, anything) pales in comparison to my thirst for Smash news. Hopefully you guys aren't nearly as depraved as me, but what games/shows/books are you guys into right now?

I'm currently playing through the final Hollow Knight DLC to completion, with Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, a few old Gamecube games, and the Metroid Prime trilogy lined up for replay to keep me busy, and re-watching Jojo to get ready for Part 5.

I've been hyped for a game more then Ultimate once before - that game was called Super Smash Brothers for the 3DS and Wii U.

To wait out the time in both cases, I went back and played other games that were on my mind because of it. While waiting for Smash 4, I gave a try to Mega Man 2, Kirby's Adventure, DKC Returns and Tropical Freeze, ect. Right now I'm playing Dillon's Dead Heat Breakers (because I'm a somewhat silent Dillon supporter), then I'll move on to DKC2 and Super Metroid. I'm also considering doing a SM nuzloche because I consider a SM newcomer to almost be a lock.

I also binged watched Gravity Falls semi-recently and fell in love, so I have been considering doing a "Smash Brothers characters as depicted by Gravity Falls" type video similar to those "Smash Brothers as depicted by Spongebob memes", but my lack of video editing experience and lack of patience may keep that from actually happening. I got a lot of ideas for it though.

The iconic rule wasn't directly stated, but it was based off of something Sakurai said in an interview regarding third-parties. Something like "there aren't that many series that made a worldwide impact."

I can't help but feel that following that philosophy might end up limiting his options in the long run, if he was indeed referring to Japanese IPs.

I guess, but I'm still not a fan of it. DLC isn't really my thing to go for unless it's blatantly obvious it isn't an EA bamboozle to where it was already preplanned.

To be honest, I think like you there. I like to see more characters and content, as long as it makes the game feel more complete. I guess some people don't have too many characters they care to see, and couldn't care less if we got a lot of new content, and that's fine, but still.

I don’t mind DLC trains at all if the company did their best with the base game. Sakurai does that. I will faithfully purchase any new characters or stages.
