I understand Whimsicott might be a huge problem, but at the same time Pichu's build/proportions aren't exactly the same as Pikachu's.

Pichu isn't an Echo, which from what we seen are even more similar to their base characters than the Melee clones were, and is very similar to Pikachu proportion-wise, just scaled down some with a thinner body and the tail being much shorter (which led to him having a different u-smash in Melee).

He definitely counts in all honesty, Punch Out may not be the most traditional fighting game on the block, but it is one.

Punch-Out!! is absolutely not a fighting game. If anything it's closer to a puzzle game.

A lot of people are convinced Dixie is gonna happen, and I see her highly likely at the very least. IF Dixie happens, that would have been the third series so far that we've gotten a Newcomer and a Echo for (Castlevania and Metroid). That would establish a pattern. Full on newcomers coming packaged with echos (but not so much the other way around, lookin at you Chrom).

People also think Skull Kid is very likely, as do I. IF Skull Kid happens, its not entirely impossible that LOZ would get an echo accompanying him. And since Shiek got her final smash changed, something less Zelda specific, I wouldn't be surprised if that echo would be Impa.

Now, we do have another new echo being Daisy. IF Dixie happens and IF Skull Kid with Impa happens and IF that establishes a echo/newcomer pattern then I think it'd be rather likely that a new Mario rep, Geno perhaps, could be the corresponding Newcomer to Daisy's Echo.

The fighting game genre is really broad. Everything from Punch-out to Virtual On to Bushido Blade to Dissdia is a Fighting game, in there with the Street Fighter 2 types and the Virtual Fighter types. Not everything has to be descended from those two games.

I honestly wouldn't worry, seeing as most fake leak people are too incompetent to use a phone camera correctly, let alone make good artwork.

I said it before (mostly to get my character picks across) but it's possible the number if newcomers may end up similar to the Smash 64 roster count: 8 or 12. 8 meaning 4 more (unique) newcomers or 12 meaning 8.

8 is pretty high, but not beyond the stretch of the imagination if you can possibly consider Sakurai may be tricking us when he says "a few more". Sure, it'll still be less unique characters than Brawl or 4, but it'll be way more than people are expecting.

I half expect 2 more character announcements this month, and something crazy like 6 announcements in the beginning of November in a direct. Just sprinkled throughout the whole direct.

Just me though I guess.

You've incorrectly assumed that the two players are necessary. One player play is also an integral part of fighting games, and predates the two player aspect by a long shot.

That is correct. In that sense, you can say that Punch-Out is one-of-a-kind in terms of the type of boxing game it is.

Glover would be the best joke character ever. I kinda want to see it happen now.

I've been working through BotW all throughout this year (300 hours in and still haven't killed Ganon...this game is a time eater, man) and I'm wondering who people here would choose if only one of the Champions could be in Smash. For me, I'd probably give it to Daruk, as Gorons are rad and he'd be another heavy-weight weapon user to go with Ike and Dedede.

Gothitelle discourse still astounds me because the concept of hilda being in is apparently perfectly fine despite being a really forced echo yet gothitelle gets people so insufferably mad about it for the exact same reasons as why i dislike hilda echo.

People DID ask for hoenn and unova pokemon around ballot time, i remember that. I don't believe the gothitelle leak is true and im astounded it's not dead despite every dataminer calling it dumb, but really, if she is in, be careful what you wish for.

I do like gothitelle as a pokemon however.

Personally I'd prefer Zoroark, or Meloetta to Gothitelle anyday, but if it meant getting Gardevoir, I wouldn't mind Gothitelle.

I think it's funny that everyone thinks Isabelle will be an echo, but very few people are on board with her being unique. I mean, sure, she could probably work as a Villager echo, but I think she could work equally as well as a unique fighter. Who's to say she can't use moves that represent AC in ways that Villager doesn't do? Or she could even have an entirely unique moveset that doesn't represent AC but instead represents her personality. I'm just saying, I think she could work as a unique as well as an echo

Definitely, emotes from Animal Crossing haven't been done yet so hopefully Sakurai goes with that, and adds that to her moveset, seeing her Star KO someone by showing joy or happiness, causing burn or electric damage by having a lightbulb appear, or performing a Meteor Smash, cause she's angry and she literally puts her foot down, would be hilarious.

It's about reading tells and pushing buttons in the desired sequence to knock down an opponent. I fail to see how that aspect makes it any more of a puzzle game than other fighting games

Dear Sakurai, I hope so. I also really like this render, as it modernizes them while retaining their cartoonish charm. Though, if it turns out they're actually character #70, it means my uncontrollable hype will continue for another couple of months (it is the number I chose for their reveal, #70 being B&K and #71 being Geno, for last).

Banjo & Kazooie of course. Right now I'm thinking of maining Pokemon Trainer, and while I love the character choices for Ultimate, not many appeal to me on a personal level. Closest is K Rool, but I would have to try him out before knowing if I would main him. But if Banjo & Kazooie were announced, they'd be my mains to the end of time.

Smash bosses have always been huge, Skull Kid wouldn't make any sense as a boss unless he's in the same vein as Bowser in Subspace, in which he's more of a "CHALLENGER APPROACHING"

Leaky isn't even credible; they guessed the March direct's date right but also said "Luigi's Mansion DLC for Odyssey"
