So, we're approaching September...thoughts on any reveals happening then? I personally think no, but anything could happen, I guess. My only hope for next month is the surprise announcement of a demo to go with the launch of their online, but that's kind of a longshot.

There will most likely be a direct in September for the Online Service. Perhaps there will be a Smash segment that focuses on the Online along with 1 newcomer and 1 Echo.

After reading the through the new Famitsu column, more specifically the section about Chrom and Dark Samus, I've been thinking about echo fighters, and I've come to a little conclusion about them. My personal definition of one is any playable character that has been introduced in either Smash 4/Ultimate whose assets are significantly or entirely derived from another character(s) and used as a base to make a new character.

I can't really think of any other definition that would fit echo fighters well, and the above one would account for Dark Pit and Lucina being considered echoes, at the very least. Any thoughts on this?

In spite of the Bayoness, Snake, and dark themes like Ridley’s trailer and the Castlevania stage, Smash is still E10+.

I guess with the more charismatic/brightened up overall mood it didn’t really make the game break into the Teen rating. Not a deal breaker or anything, just a small thing since everyone was crazy about the rating for some reason at times.

In spite of the Bayoness, Snake, and dark themes like Ridley’s trailer and the Castlevania stage, Smash is still E10+.

I guess with the more charismatic/brightened up overall mood it didn’t really make the game break into the Teen rating.

I think the main thing that raised Brawl's rating with the blood you could see on Master Hand's... hand when Tabuu's chains broke off. I think this is pretty understandable.

I'll be surprised if we don't get a character to represent the Mario RPGs. Geno and Paper Mario were both popular requests, and would both make for fun and unique fighters.

Kinda same. What would be hilarious is if Geno ends up being a no-go from Square so they go with Paper Mario. We would literally be repeating history.

I don't understand how the Squad Strike works after Sakurai's explanation, but it sounds like it's not what I and many others thought it would be. I was hoping the x characters you pick would be your stocks. But it sounds like you fight as one character and finish the battle. Then the winner either fights your next character or you beat them x times to win.

So it sounds like it's just saving you from creating a 1 stock match and going back to the CSS screen? Effectlively it's the same thing, I guess... but doesn't sound as cool as what I was hoping for.

Or am I misunderstanding?

He said it can be set up to do both. Characters as stocks or both characters as stocks and switch players.

You heard it here, folks: Miles Prower is the most OP character in the Sonicverse. Robotnik quakes when he sees the helicopter tails of doom.

Not only can Tails fly... he is as fast as Sonic, invented the Spindash, is smarter than Eggman, and can pilot a biplane.

He's also 8 years old.

Going back to the Tails discussion from a while back, I think he has one huge advantage over Knuckles and Shadow - he's not just a video game icon, he's a cultural icon.
and maybe are characters I feel like you don't have to really know games in order to recognize. They're so iconic I'm sure even my grandma would say she at least recognizes most of them, even if not by name. And I think Tails (and Dr.Eggman, admittedly) are some of the last characters with that sort of recognizability not yet in the game. Yeah he's mostly known for being the sidekick of Sonic the Hedgehig, but at the same time, he's the sidekick of Sonic the Freaking Hedgehog. I'm not kidding when I equate him to Luigi. [/I]

Oh and yeah, I didn't include Link on purpose by the way, because I honestly had no idea who he was before I played my first LoZ game. Every gamer knows him, but I probably couldn't say that about my previously mentioned Grandma.

And yeah, I know the Ballot is the primary method of choosing new fighters, but it's definitely not the only method. Simon was no where near as requested as K.Rool and Ridley, but he still made it in by his own merits. I could easily see the same for Tails. I'm not even a Sonic fan but I still see Tails as an incredibly strong contender as an original newcomer. It astonishes me how much people are sleaping on him because he's a minor background character in an age where Alfonzo McLeave-it-to-me is a thing.

I don't think Ridley was JUST the ballot. The ballot wouldn't have changed Sakurai's mind on Ridley. I think after years of people asking he finally caved and finally figured out how to make Ridley work.

Having every veteran back has always been a pipedream for me...and yet it has happened. Amazing occasion and this is the only time they'll be able to do it. Enjoy it for a generation, folks!

Ridley and K. Rool...speechless. They complete my Brawl era desires. Well...Paper Mario was one, but due to recent games I am split on him being playable. Both look fun and more like standard SSB fighters. Daisy is a free dessert. I like her but never wanted her for Smash. As a clone, it is fine. Likewise Dark Samus.

Inkling's fine. Splatoon is a major hitter. It's undeniably deserving.

The Belmonts do reference an important game/era of gaming, with the series being inspiration for many indies. I love Dracula's Castle's atmosphere.

Chrom...eh, why not. I got a lot of stuff, might as well.

Ken's cool. I'd be ok with that. Isabelle is ok. Incineroar I am indifferent. I played Gen 7 and no Pokemon really stood out for me, so whichever one they go for is fine by me.

Love seeing so many classic stages returning for the first time in a decade or two and re-imagined. The lack of new stages is a bit disappointing but that can be corrected via DLC. Battlefield forms is an amazing addition.

New items look fun. The Sm4sh one went in the direction of "too crazy, too powerful". I am liking the balancing of the newer additions thus far. Being able to attack ATs and Pokeballs is also an addition I never thought I wanted.

I am liking the new smash modes, particularly Smashdown. Stage Morph will be fun.

Gameplay wise it looks fast and fluid.

I will need to see more of the online and single player modes, but so far Ultimate is fantastic. I am lovin all the new remixes on the website, the Smash celebration it is delivering is perfect for Smash fans. Credit to Sakurai and his team. I am feeling Brawl-levels of hype. 9/10. So close to a ten conceptually, Smash team. Just need that little bit of info and a defense attorney wouldn't go amiss either...

While I'd love for her to be unique (hell in the game at all for that matter), I think she could easily be a Marth/Roy or a Mario/Luigi scenario where a lot of her moves are lifted from Sonic but some have fire effects or just altered completely, like maybe her fire spin double jump from 06 as her Up Special instead of Spring. Either way I'd legit cry tears of joy if she was made playable, whether a complete carbon copy or Sonic or not.

I know we'd like to forget that she exists but doesn't Marine have Hydrokinesis? SUPER MARINE CONFIRMED?!

Darn, I guess Tharja won't be in Robin's Final Smash or even a Trophy (once again). RIP Camilla Trophy as well...unless they give them both a censor job to make them comply with E10.

I honestly wish they'd just stick with Teen..it allows essentially everything Nintendo to be used for the most part.

I was 50/50 on adding him and Link to that list. I don't really have a good sense of how well those two are known by non-gamers. I even considered adding Ryu or a second. Maybe I should have thrown them in as Peach-category, I included her mostly because of the ammount of merchandise I've seen with her.

Newcomers are the main attraction to me and not having many more would be disappointing, but the roster is perfect with Ridley and K Rool. A Zelda newcomer, Geno, and black Knight are my main wants for base roster now but that would just be extra at this point. Especially considering dlc is a thing I give it 10/10.

I don't think they'll release another new Smash on Switch so they'll chain Sakurai down and have him do a couple years of DLC. No way a game this large won't have substantial DLC content.
