So we're talking about 3rd parties eh.

Honestly I don't mind if we end up getting much more of them in base and DLC. Because to be honest, there's kind of not that many notable 1st party characters to pull from now considering we pretty much have around 95% of the notable characters unique wise from 1980-2015. For sure we're getting the newer characters as DLC. But even then, there's only Edelgard, Rex & Pyra, maybe Elma if she isn't in base, and Springman who are the most notable 2016-2018/2019 characters right now.

I don't have a problem with another Fire Emblem, I don't want another Marth.
Also Kanto needs to stop. Nothing anyone can say will change my opinion on this.
I'm cool with another Gen 2 Pokemon, a Gen 3 Pokemon, Gen 4, Gen 5, Gen 6, Gen 7, even a new Gen 8 Pokemon.
But I can't stand all the Kanto pandering, other regions exist.

Kanto is the start of the Pokemon craze, everyone knows Kanto, it sold most, etc, etc.

There are BUSINESS reasons that Kanto gets pushed. The only thing I can tell you is start supporting merchandise and other things of none Kanto region **** and maybe Pokemon Company won't always go back there.

But you're still competiting with a lot of the general public whose one and only Pokemon experience was probably Kanto and the original 151.

Okay, I personally have no issues with 3rd parties, it's just a multitude of issues, after bayonetta, I want more safe less insufferably flashy characters. For Instance, If Nintendo announces Blizzard will be contributing a character, I don't care if Overwatch is announced for switch, I'd still take a warcraft or starcraft character for years over that game even though neither series has touched a nintendo console ever (Starcraft 64 doesn't count don't tell me about it). This is because an overwatch character would inevitably be Tracer or Genji, and after my stint of mashing through Heroes of the Storm for half a year, I see nothing but anti fun bull**** that in Genji's case still hasn't been fixed after like 2 years (And I think Tracer recently returned to being bull****). Both of these characters are flashy, high mobility characters which seems to be a pattern in the experience here. If Nintendo Added a warcraft character, it would probably be someone like Thrall, Garrosh or Varian, who would be nowhere near as unfixably obnoxius due to their own "character fantasy". I'm just fed up over of overambitious developers trying to bring these fantasies into multiplayer games where some sucker has to be on the other end. Bayonetta and Dante are designed to have their flashy, over the top combo fantasies against AI grunts and bosses that don't feel emotion and will never understand the meaning of salt. Me logging into For Glory? I sure as hell will after the 10th bayo, the 11th dante and the 20th tracer.

Pretty much. A lot of things being confirmed from said leak, but never trust a leak entirely. I've barely played the Devil May Cry games but the idea of Dante in Smash has grown on me and I wouldn't be upset at all if it turned out to be true.

Lets take a look at the text:

Sure thing anon. The trailer opens with a CGI of what I think is one of the Fire Emblem characters being attacked by a giant dragon. But before the attack connects, the screen goes dark and you hear the royal guard parry sound. When the video resumses they show his eyecatch (Dante Rocks Out!) and then they show his gameplay. Again, I'm not a Smash guy, so I can only say so much, but I do know my DMC. He uses his outfit and most of his weapons from 4, although I didn't see Pandora. Whenever he uses Gilgamesh the mask appears on his face, which is a nice touch. Lady is shown as an assist character, also in her DMC4 attire, she jumps in and starts firing shots everywhere. For Dante's ultimate he does a devil trigger burst, and if the aura catches them they get sucked into a cinematic combo with the style meter cranking up to Smokin Sick Style. The end of the trailer has another CGI scene where the girl he protected asks him name, only to be met with him tossing a rose at her and walking off as he gives the same salute he gave to Nero at the end of DMC4.

We're talking about the good Dante. Donte was featured in Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale anyways, so Sakurai would be extra hesitant to touch that.

To be fair in regards to this 3rd Party debate..Sakurai only included well known characters so the game would sell, it's simply that Nintendo characters were obviously the easiest to get for the game..so it was never initially planned as Nintendo Only, that was just a thing it happened to be until Brawl..and even then Snake & Sonic almost made it to Melee.

I actually prefer it being a Nintendo & Gaming All-Stars game.

No, because like with Simon Belmont and Pac-Man he didn't use the current designs of those characters.
Even then I think DMC V was in development so if they went with the current design, it'd be from that game not Donte.

The most bizarre thing about that Dante leak is the bunch of games he saw, but related with DMC. Marvel vs Capcom, DMC5 itself, new releases of DMC4 and even Smash Bros.
Seems weird, all those games in the same place. It's some Capcom HQs or what.

That's actually an interesting point.

Almost every third party character has some kind of association with Nintendo.

- Series started on the NES and so are strongly associated with it
- Had releases on the NES and Game Boy (later the 3DS as well)
- Infamous rivalry with Nintendo in the Early 90s, now has pretty much half of all releases on Nintendo consoles
- Now Nintendo Exclusive, and will likely remain that way for the foreseeable future.
- Series started on the NES, but later broke away. The "break-up" is infamous in Gaming. Also pretty much the most popular character in his series.
The exceptions are:
- A Gaming Icon in general. Had a hand in jumpstarting the gaming industry along with .
- Part of the Castlevania series, one of the most popular main characters from his series

I have no problem with the "number" of Fire Emblem characters.

I have a "slight" problem with the fact four of them use essentially the same moves.

I'm down for more FE newcomers I don't really care about the number of rep a franchise has. However I rather have a unique FE character next instead of an echo.

The FE character I'm rooting for is Fjorm; a lancer that also manipulates ice, and is one of the main protagonists from FE Heroes, after her is Micaiah.
