But with how much stuff they're putting in the game already, do you think want to dedicate all that extra time making 8 playable Animal Crossing characters when they could just make one with different outfits?

I thought about this, but idk who they'll go around to choose which Neighbors to use. There's just so many that many people would end up with 8 or more Neighbors they'd never seen, even if they played AC for years.
Fang and Cube are my favorites and I'd be sad if they didn't make it. They face 300+ potential competitors. There's so many that it'll be hard to even remember all your past neighbors in the different games. I remember those two, Roscoe, Wolfgang, Cyrano, Felicity, Lucky, Samson (ugh, I hated him as a kid), the cool cat that loved Japanese stuff that I forgot his name, and probably another handful out of 300+

Is there any popularity poll for them out there?

They have singled out a few animal villagers before; one place is in the Animal Crossing minigame in Nintendo Land (the Wii Remote players are a few specific regular villagers) and another place is in various box arts (much like how the default human Villager in Smash is based on the City Folk box art.)

It honestly depends, it’s very likely they’ll use the obvious poster neighbors you often see on covers and promotions such as Bill, Curt, Bunnie, Goldie, Peanut etc, as well as the new Hamster and Deer villagers, they could also use an unusual “ugly” one.

They very likely won’t use every species, just the simple basics ones like Dog, Cat, Rabbit, Bear etc.

My personal picks are Kid Cat, Agent S, and Big Top lol.

It really go either way, you could check for polls if you like.

Skull Kid would open the doors for side characters and one-offs in Zelda which would be pretty cool. Ganon's still my first choice for a Zelda newcomer, but now that "Zelda newcomer" is the new "DK newcomer" among Smash fans, it would be cool to see them get thrown a bone.

Technically Skull kid has 3 main series zelda appearances. OoT, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess. Plus is in the Spin off Hyrule Warriors as well

I think we should calm down a bit and not get ahead of ourselves, we have 3 months left and we can get something that goes against what we thought. I mean I still had Simon and King K. Rool in my predictions along with Elma and after seeing the reveals, it didn’t change my perspective since it went along with my prediction, but everyone else just assumed BALLOT ONLY when most people already assumed the ballot had a large role along with the recent characters and had Simon and King K. Rool likley to be revealed.

The difference I think is most people expected Simon and K. Rool to be revealed later, if not outright at the end. The fact that they're frontloading them, and confirming that all characters will be announced before the game is out, makes me think it's only going to get crazier from here.

I'm currently of the belief that a Pokemon newcomer will be the only "promotional" unique fighter, and the rest will be fan favorites ( ballot or not).

Animal Crossing honestly isn't my cup of tea because it made me realize I don't really enjoy life sims. That being said, my perfect Animal Crossing roster would be...

Villager - uses the various tools and abilities the player can use in their town (veteran)
Isabelle - fights by creating Public Works Projects and enacting Ordinances, terraforming the stage in the process by "customizing the town." Also has cutesy accidental attacks,
Blathers - Fights by summoning hordes of fish and insects, and can reanimate fossils to fight for him in his specials.

Ever heard of the theory that you as the protagonist cannot leave the town ever because you are held hostage? Animal Crossing can be a bit creepy at times, but it's that theory that gets me, because it almost makes complete sense!

I'd say Ridley is a safe prediction seeing how people predicted him in Smash 4 AND there was the Ballot.

See, this is the issue with that idea. Who the **** is Coco? And I've never seen the superhero villagers.
I've been playing AC ever since the GameCube for more than 200 hours each game and I don't know them. There's bound to be too many people who would end up with 8 or more unknowns. Best to use Isabelle or the guys everyone knows and love.

I would love if the roster was: Link, Zelda/Shiek, Ganondorf, Midna, Ghirahim, Skull Kid instead of 3 Links, Zelda, Shiek, and Ganondorf since they can easily represent other games as well.

Though I would love it if we got HW Impa as well.

Once again not trying to heat a dead horse...but I do wanna say I don't see at all how the first room is "Clearly DK themed".

They circled a plant...one of the most common office decorations...

I will play devil's advocate and say there's a lot more with the chairs in the second one, still a stretch but at least it could be a direct reference rather than "I think this room is DK themed because I have a limited sense of style". (Not insulting anyone but I have a room in my house we redid with refurbished wood that is almost the same aesthetic as that office...it's not that hard to believe.)

Nope it wasnt safe...especially since Sakurai stated before hand that ridley would pretty much be impossible.

I suspect if Incineroar is in, a lot of people will be upset for this reason - both Greninja and Incineroar were chosen before they really existed.

I think it adds a point of credibility toward my prediction.

The first characters usually revealed are heavy hitters with smaller ones around the end. (Sonic is an exception since he was added later).

The fact that Ridley, Simon, and King K. Rool were revealed first makes me think that we’ll the next ballot picks down the line like Isaac and Geno along with your S/M Pokémon, Elma, and even Rhythm Heaven.

I think Sakurai revealed the big guns already. But I would be happy if we get someone like Leon later for a surprise or something.

I'm not a doubter, anything could happen, and any game character does have a chance, but as long as I can get my wanted characters I couldn't care less. But I'd still congratulate the Skull Kid supporters if he gets in.

Hey, I'm on the side of Vergeben and I hope he's right. I trust what he's saying much more than loz18 or any of the others. But it's still true that Stealth and Emily Rogers said some of the same things Vergeben said before he did. IIrc, Emily said that there'd be no cuts (or everyone would be back, one of the two), and I can't quite remember what Stealth said. I think it was Simon. But even still, Vergeben got some stuff right that not many people were predicting

As a Decidueye supporter, I've come to accept that Incineroar is probably in the game, and think he would be really fun and animated.

It would be great to have a wrestling match with K. Rool. Ironic because K. Rool is a western character who fights like a sumo wrestler and Incineroar is a Japanese character who fights like an American wrestler.

Must say I am surprised nobody tried to calculate the amount of music we have versus what could be left.

He mentioned over 800 songs for stages: and we saw the number of songs a few series will get and that number excludes menu themes and fanfare. Not to mention the songs we heard for the E3 build, on the website, and what logically would be on a few stages due to prior precedence.

If we have a good number of songs unrevealed, that could hint at new franchises being represented perhaps.

I've been keeping a spreadsheet. There are at least 164 songs unaccounted for by any franchise as of yet.

But do you have an oil drum in that room? The plant is reaching, I don't even know what the thing on the shelf is supposed to be, and even rope ladders are hipster wall decorations. But that's a damn oil drum, lol.

If mods weren't demonized by Nintendo, I would love to see a mod that makes it so that characters can only play like they do in their games. If that were to be a thing, who would be good or bad. We all know Bayo would be really good, but Wii Fit Trainer would definitely be garbage.
