Also, is it possible you could explain Ness's death? I don't hear too much about this.

Mother 3 takes place in the distant future so naturally no one from Ness's era would be around by then, except for Porky. You could make similar claims about the Fire Emblem and Zelda characters since their timelines span thousands of years.

If they'd do a combined reveal of rest of the newcomers for the game, basically sharing a huge kind of a trailer together.

The amount of them would be limited to 8, much like the date we're having right now.

I don't see that happening tomorrow, but I actually do expect all the newcomers to be shown off pre-release to make leaks obsolete. Plus, 98% of the roster being unlockable anyways, it wouldn't be too far out there.

It's such a small extra from Brawl that I wouldn't really blame anyone for forgetting about it.
As someone who was really young around the time of Brawl's release, I wasn't really informed about Nintendo's history. Sure, I had grew up with Nintendo since the N64, but I didn't know a lot about the NES, SNES, or a lot of the games that Nintendo published during that time. Of course, I now know a lot about these consoles and even follow game announcements for consoles such as the Switch, but looking up a system's catalogue of games never crossed my mind as a kid since you had to search it out.
People say that Smash is a gaming museum due to the amount of diverse characters it has, but I think Brawl really drove home that museum vibe with Stickers, Trophies, Masterpieces, and the Chronicle. I really appreciated that about Brawl growing up. It made me interested in searching out game systems and see what made them stand out.
Ultimate is turning out to be the Smash game that I have been dreaming of and if it gives you a deep dive into Nintendo's history with its extras, I'll be thrilled.

I'll always remember this for listing Hamtaro, of all things. It's oddly touching that they even acknowledged the Virtual Boy, warts and all.

"Dying and becoming an angel" is a cartoon trope. Biblical angels are eldritch creatures that would give Cthulu a headache and I'm fairly sure there weren't angels in Greek/Roman mythology, at least not the wings and halo kind. I doubt Pit is meant to be the spirit of some deceased person.

I wonder if dead characters have a chance at all of appearing in Smash, whether it be a playable role or Assist Trophy. Name any dead characters in video games you can think that have the highest chance of getting in, even if the chance is still low overall.

There's already some characters that have been dead canonically. Marth and Ike are dead during Awakening. Ganondorf looked pretty dead to me at the end of Twilight Princess. Ridley himself has been "dead" like 1248 times. Lucario dies in the movie. (Not-so-Fun fact: the only two Pokemon that die permanently in the Pokemon anime are Lucario and Latios, my two favorites because the anime hates me.) OoT Link is dead in TP, if that counts.

The Binding Blade is technically the last game in its canon, so it's not as definitive as Marth and Ike. Awakening's Einherjar are weird in the sense that most are copies from parallel worlds as opposed to history, which would just be the Archanea, Jugdral, and Valentia characters (and Tellius because of Priam).

Okay, so I found Pit does have some basis in Greek mythology (a bit more than I thought), taking elements from Eros, Icarus (of course), Cupid and even Perseus. Knowing that, I can't say for sure that Pit was a kid that died and became an angel, and I guess no mention of a previous life before in his games fail to make me think otherwise.

I agree. Though the game has a history of delays, I think it should be pretty obvious that this development cycle is notably different from the previous ones anyway.

Wouldn’t a Smash series make more sense than a Kid Icarus series (something that I ****ing need alongside many game sequels) considering its a Smash Direct...but for me a newcomer from the series (Viridi...Viridi...VIRIDI...) is atleast a 25% realistically and a 9001-Infinity% for me

Most Nintendo characters usually don’t die. The only closest ones are Ridley, Ness, and Marth.

The only “dead” newcomer that I assume can get in is Saki since his son, Isa, is the protagonist of the second game, and he’s like 17? But even then, Saki probably isn’t dead and probably won’t be selected over Isa.

Alright quick series of hopes predictions.

1. Starts with a new character
2. While they will not have every stage from past games on launch, all stages will eventually make it into the game as DLC, alongside brand new characters and stages.
3. They go over the single player modes and go in depth into each one.
4. Classic mode like in melee or brawl.
5. All star mode
6. Special orders
7. Event matches
8. A stadium with home run contest, multi man melee, target blast, and......
9. Character specific break the targets, by popular demand. They will be in classic mode, alongside a race to the finish mode and a new trophy minigame.
10. There will be a campaign mode, like the subspace emissary. It will have levels based directly on levels from the games smash characters are from. It is going to be about 4 hours long. The stadium will also include a boss battle mode.
11. The vault will return, with a minigame for collecting trophies included.
12. While many fan favorite modes will be missing from the base game, many of them will be added later as paid DLC. This includes character specific board the platforms, and adventure mode modeled after melee to be put alongside classic mode, the most robust stage builder yet, and a smash run where you can interact with other players. Smash run will have online support when it comes out.
13. Online will be gone into in depth.
14. They will show new stages and explain the hazard toggle.
15. They will explain that echo fighters are being used to include characters that many people are asking for while not taking up too many resources.
16. There is a montage of 5-6 new echo fighters.
17. New character revealed at the end

As far as I can tell, he's asking Loz if he's heard anything else, or if he can confirm some of the stuff that he's heard, with Loz being in disbelief that DK would get passed up.
