I wasn't hanging around the English Smash communities before E3 so I didn't consider Ridley in the slightest.
I've stated my opinion on echoes several times. They'll be popular characters, not just characters that "work." And to that end, Shadow's the only third party that has any chance, imo, even considering the existence of characters like Zack or Ken or Ms Pac Man or whoever.
I would be cautious about other modes possibly making an impact, but I don't think there will be a mode that will delay the game by months like Subspace. In Shadow's case, I don't think he will face any problems in the event of a dilemma. I think Shadow would be higher priority in echo development with his sheer popularity that is as notable but easy to dismiss as Daisy.
Springman, a Champion, Dusk Lycanroc, or any other character who debuted after development began. I just wanna see Smash speculation blow up into flames because no one knows what to believe anymore.

I'm not even convinced Shadow qualifies, but what do I know.
Simon, A Gen 7 Pokemon, K. Rool, or Elma.
He was shown unfinished. And different programmers have different jobs; once a game gets to the polishing stage or goes gold, the guys who specialize in creating base animations or textures are either moved to another game, let go, or given DLC to work on. Even though the game hadn't gone gold yet, I don't think Mewtwo was considered for the final roster so much as considered early on for the first DLC.

It isn't exaggerated at all. People do this. It is one of the many things a few courses in Psychology will teach you. I've also personally seen it multiple times in and out of this thread.
Same. I talk about other characters (mostly third parties), but Isaac's always going to top the list.
Because people like to ignore information they are given in favor of believing what makes them feel good.
I'd guess 7 more for base game max, then DLC later on.

Hey, I'm replaying Paper Mario right now and I just finished Chapter 5. I thought of you every time I was in Yoshi Village.
Shantae, natch. Mainly so it can be proven that there's more than just the established guests in the base roster. Alternatively, one of those highly-requested characters (e.g. BDW, Dixie Kong, etc).

The Inklings I knew were 100%. The moment that trailer started at the end of that Direct after the Splatoon 2 showcase I thought "This is Smash, isn't it?" I thought they might even have had a chance as DLC for Smash 4, but I figured they'd save them for the next Smash as the "poster child" newcomer for the game, and so it was!

In fact, the best way to surprise us on that front is to not have a "WTF?" character in the roster, because after 4 games we're expecting it.

This is the first leak in a while not by Vergeben that has caught my attention, with the K. Rool AT and the Isabelle semi-clone points. I would be disappointed with the latter, but if her play-style manages to be different enough from Villager, I would be a bit content.

Man, I really want some HW content in Smash. I sincerely doubt it would get a fighter (though Lana would be rad), but definitely some music and maaaaaaybe a stage would be enough for me. Honestly, if Silent Guardians made it in, I'd be happy.
