RE: the G&W leak.
I have a hard time believing he knows what's in the direct, but not what characters are being revealed (also, knowing about Simon and Isabelle is strange, probably piggybacking).

Considering the AT list, the "I don't know who's being revealed this time" is the lie, and Isaac and K. Rool are the ones who'll be revealed (because there's no way they'd make K. Rool an AT XD).

Of course, this is all assuming the leak is true, which it probably isn't anyway.

I think that kind of character is getting harder for Sakurai to select, mostly because this is the fifth game in a popular series with a huge roster.

Like, I think pretty much every "What?/Who?" character has been suggested on this site at least once.

Just today Mappy was suggested by... Guh-Huzzah! I believe.

I don't think there's a single character that would truly, truly knock us all off our collective feet in terms of "didn't see it coming".

In fact, the best way to surprise us on that front is to not have a "WTF?" character in the roster, because after 4 games we're expecting it.

What about a new character from an existing third-party franchise? It wouldn't get that big a rise out of many of us, but it'd still be hilarious to see the whiny reactions of those who think there's an established rule against such characters (especially on sites such as 4Chan!). You can already see the walls of text claiming such things as "MUH LIMITS" or the regular cluster f-bombs and outrage. I want this to happen.

Regardless of the veracity of this leak (it's fake btw), there is a significant chance Mr. Game & Watch will be revealed tonight. July 31 was the Japanese release date of Fire, and several blog updates have been timed to coincide with release anniversaries. Bowser Jr. was on Sunshine's anniversary, ROB was on his own anniversary, the F-Zero medley was on GX's anniversary. TC obviously knew this, and that's why he's banking on his reveal tonight. Don't buy into this one, even if Mr. Game & Watch is revealed tonight.

Regarding the "deadline" of the leak. Remember that people get lucky with info sometimes. I don't know what the chances are of guessing which character will be shown next, but Mr Game and Watch's trailer being shown tonight does not mean that the leaker is right. He's probably just hoping.

If we all make fake leaks predicting different character blog updates, one of us will seem credible to the internet.

- Nintendo Direct in August, illustrates new game mode to unlock characters, shows off the menu, shows off more final smashes and some other tweaks, reveals a few more returning stages and 1 new one plus New Donk City.

- I have no info on the new character revealed in August direct.

- Chrom isn't an echo fighter, he's still in Robin's final smash. It hasn't been shown off because they added other characters to it.

- New Donk City is a traveling stage. Not much else to say, imagine Delfino Plaza or Skyloft but New Donk City instead.

- R.O.B. and Peach both have completely new Final Smashes. Several other characters like Yoshi and Diddy Kong have the same Final Smash, except Diddy's is practically a clone of Snake's mechanically now and Yoshi's is just a cutscene Final Smash. Several other final smashes have some cosmetic tweaks.

- Brinstar, Corneria, Fountain of Dreams, Yoshi's Island (Brawl), Delfino Plaza, Hanenbow, Reset Bomb Forest, Gerudo Valley and Gamer are shown off as returning stages in the direct.

- Assist trophies are also shown off. Isaac, Magalor, Blue*, Celica, Chibi Robo, Lottie, DK Jr., The Helmasaur King, and King K Rool are all shown off in a compilation.
*Blue simply releases a bunch of Pokeballs at random.

- There are also a few new/returning items. Fan and DK Barrel are back. Ramblin' Mushroom, Toothbrush (Chibi Robo), and the speed shoes from Sonic are all new items shown off.

If this leak is true, that would end my dream of Isaac being playable in Smash. But at the same time, those assist trophies are just random enough to make a scary amount of sense. We'll find out in two hours :/

I'd be very disappointed if Yoshi's Final Smash was just Super Dragon but cinematic. There's more Final Smash potential to be pulled from him.

Huh, does Sakurai have some kind of preference for Ike? Like, he's his favorite character or something? I remember that he played him on the Treehouse streams and all, but inspecting the Smashbros website for any clues if the Gamefaqs leaker was guessing Mr. G&W out of that... I saw that every fighter that doesn't have a blog post just default it's temporary link to Fighter 32 instead of their own number (for whatever reason), which is Ike (which also has no blog post). Now, I don't know almost anything abou web design, html and all that and this doesn't mean anything, but I found it pretty odd lol.

Captain Toad or Bandana Dee. Preferably Captain Toad so I can stop being paranoid about him being an assist or not there at all.

I think it was pretty obvious that New Donk City is a moving stage. The background on Mario's page shows a completely different area and there are so many different parts of the city to show off.

We already got a woolly world stage which replaced what was meant to be an epic yarn stage, and it makes sense to pick a stage from what was the most recent game at the time. Plus Robobot's mechanical setting is very distinct visually

Just off the edges of the screen. In Yoshi's New Island, the Eggdozer changes direction using contextual arrows, so I'd see it as the edges replacing that mechanic (I don't blame you for not knowing that considering YNI's reception)
