Elma is apparently a Blade/enemy Blade in the game's code and will be coming via the 1.5.2 update, which should be some time in August. It would be a neat way to do some sort of X-promotion (pun intended) for Elma.

It's been said a billion times now but we need more Sonic Adventure. I don't understand why they have gone so long without attempting to listen to their fans. (hopefully)

The reception to Sonic '06 is what scared Sonic Team off from ever trying the Adventure formula ever again.

I actually feel they should either do away with or pare back the Boost Gameplay (relegate it to special levels like the Mach Speed Sections in Sonic '06, the Boost formula is pretty much the same thing with the kinks ironed out anyway). The Boost Gameplay holds them back due to required LOOOOOOOONG levels that need a lot of work and attention to detail that most players aren't going to see anyway due to moving too fast. Not to mention it prevents characters other than Sonic, Shadow and Blaze from taking part.

That said, I think Sonic Forces' Avatar character was still a step in the wrong direction.

On June 13th, I released a great deal of information concerning Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. “A 2018 release, can you really manage that?” I’ve been grappling with that question for a while, but I’ve earnestly – and silently – been working to make that happen. In the December of 2015 I put forth my first proposal for the game. I was still working on the DLC for the previous Super Smash Bros. game at the time, and I wouldn’tt even get together the staff for Ultimate until later.

December 2015 was not the time the final plan was made, but the first project proposal. And now my skeptical perspective on Elma is rising again. Speculation has changed for me once again.

The game proposal is meant to showcase what’s Nintendo should expect from this game and why it should made. So veterans returning and stages returning was probably one of the first things he had in mind. Nintendo most likely agreed to the proposal for the new Smash game early on afterwards for the Switch.

Seeing how he had his “break” around March, and he was getting his team together, to work on the game. Sakurai most likely had his completed project before his break in January to Febuary of 2016 and began working on the game in early April, hence why he knows the “project he is working on next” meaning that Nintendo already agreed to the proposal and Sakurai working on the game.

I liked the Werehog, even in the PS3 version. I'll just chalk it down to not really playing many brawlers and not having a baseline to judge it on. Or maybe I'm a filthy casual, who know...

Well, I would feel excited for new character! I wouldn't care to much which is the character revealed... but my reaction would ended up a lot more mind blowing if that character was... her.

Just Forces, I can see them trying to pass GHZ off as Mania.

The main character of Xenoblade X is basically a blank slate you create yourself without a true canon appearance unlike Robin iirc.

Elma is basically the secondary main character.

DANG did they ever make the season pass worth it, that's incredible.

Anyway, if we're talking Sonic representation, I'm of the mindset it has to be Tails. He's one of the most iconic Player 2's in all of gaming, arguably outshined only by .
I firmly believe that no other Sonic character deserves that spot, and I LOVE Sonic. But for it to be anyone other than Tails would be downright disrespectful to me.

My one exception would be if Shadow, Classic or Metal was an Echo Fighter. That would be the ONLY way I'd be okay with anyone else.

Elma is from Xenoblade X, while not the player character she's the leader of your team and acts as the main character throughout the majority of the story while the player character basically just tags along, they do exactly one important thing in the story but that's just so they can do a dramatic plot reveal. She's pretty much just a badass chick who carries dual swords and dual blades which she can freely switch between mid-battle. She has a cool personality and a great design and would just make a fun and unique smash character.

Also, now that Kamek seemingly is going to get his first Sport spin-off after Mario Party, can we get more support for the guy? Lack of spin-off love was the big thing his detractors said worked against him. Or are we expected to wait until Mario Kart 9 for that?

He checks off almost every relevant bookmark and would technically rep two series at once, which is a great feat and would certainly bump the guy up the "Mario" newcomer list

She is both the first non-avatar character in Xenoblade Chronicles X, and also possibly the most important character in the story. She also has cool weapons and and unique moves with which to make a moveset.

I don't quite understand the question, do you mean a newcomer getting added OUTSIDE of that plan?

Because if so, the only time we know that Sakurai has gone against his plans have been for clones and arguably . He had planned for Sonic initially, but Sega said no, so he went on without him, only for SEGA to come back last minute and go "Actually please add him". Hence why Sonic was so rushed in Brawl.
