How come nobody has mentioned Hakamo-o or Kommo-o as possible pokemon gen VII reps? We've never had a playable dragon type pokemon unless you count Mega Charizard X who is no longer in the game anyway. The dragon fighting dual typing is also a perfect fit for smash imo.

Because they lack prominence in any way, shape, or form, nor would Sakurai be given their designs early like the Gen 6 starters.

Tingle is honestly my most wanted Zelda rep. Moblin Ganon and Impa are my other two(but only Oracles Impa. Not interested in her being a straight Sheik clone or echo. Feels too boring for what she can be).

K. Rool better make it in. After I saw Ridley, hype AF btw, I feel like we're finally gonna get him. Most of the highly requested characters (of which a good amount were veterans that were cut) are here in the game and a few have already been disconfirmed by ATs, leaving K. Rool as the only SEVERELY popular and highly requested character not yet in.

Though knowing Sakurai, that Waluigi footage was an early build or he can easily make up a moveset to have in the game before launch or as DLC and simply remove the AT. I doubt it, but it's not 100% yet until the game comes out.

Daisy really surprised me and I'm interested to see what her differentiating aspect would be. I feel like not floating is one of Peach's essential character traits and removing it for a clone would actually seperate them on the tier list like Lucina and Marth (though admittedly, she's only two places behind him last I checked); plus, we got that Aces special where she can literally walk in the air now to explain her floating.

I can legit see Isabelle, Shadow, and Dark Samus as possibilities now since the ATs are nowhere to be found and we're most definitely getting more Echo Fighters than Daisy.

Pokémon and Zelda might get one more newcomer, but that's it. They will not exceed the Mario characters. As for who those newcomers could be? Impa or Tingle, and honestly, Pokémon is anyone's guess. We may think it's another starter cause of a trend but then we got Mewtwo, a popular legendary, Pichu, a baby pokémon, Jigglypuff, a second-evolution that only had anime relevance going for it and is just a staple now, and Lucario, a very popular 'mon with a unique gimmick. There's only three slots where the characters have been starters, and Pikachu was going to be there anyways as a literal icon of gaming.


Pokémon Trainer, however, houses the literal embodiment of the starter trio in his/her core gameplay mechanic now. We have the fire, water, and grass type all in one which really represents the games well. Greninja is an exception to the playable starter thing because it was added in a Roy-esque manner and it quickly garnered lots of popularity and had a major role in the anime too.

You can say we'll have another starter to even it up to 4:4 but, I really don't see much supporting Pokémon's moat popular pick for a newcomer. Decidueye's main argument of being a grass starter to complete the trio never took into account that we'd have one of those starters paired up with two others of the starter triangle. You can claim he'll offer a unique playstyle but, what pokémon wouldn't? His popularity isn't evem fully there as Rowlett is immensely more popular as a first evo and Incineroar is more popular as a final evo, plus has anime relevance for a major role like Decidueye had Pokken. They also both have dual typings that could set them apart. It jist has far TOO much competition with Incineroar for me to even consider either when Mimikyu, Lycanroc, or even Zeraora are unique 'mon without such factors tethering them down together and all have some popularity to boot, last I checked. Also friendly reminder that, Gen 6 didn't get a fighter at all so I don't see why people believe any newer Gen has to get a rep at all.

Also, I feel people are being too quick too criticize the game. It isn't the final build at all and has at most a half year's worth of development left. The game is faster, has new mechanics, the HUD is different, the artsyle is different, the graphics have updated, a new lighting engine has been inplaced, veterans have been reworked, stages have been upgraded and given battlefield and omega forms along with a possible stage hazard toggle AND we're getting some new stages, and new content IS confirmed to be coming. Hell, the fact the option for "Modes" on the website is even there SHOWS that there's at least gonna be some variety other than an arcade-styled fighting game. While it's clear the game was built upon by Smash 4 (the Shulk section of the direct clearly shows this since it has the new and old mechanics in the exact same artsyle), that doesn't mean this isn't a new experience at all and they've confirmed it's a new game.

But yeah, these are just my passing thoughts after not having been here for a WHILE. Had a lot to catch up on, but ultimately, I'm excited for this game and cannot wait for it to come out.

So then why aren't Iris or Drayden playable? You fight them before fighting the evil team leader and facing the legendary Pokemon. Plus, Sakurai had their designs by the time Smash 4 pre-planning began. What about all the other Totem Pokemon? Surely they would fit in Smash Bros.

The fact is that compared to Lycanroc, Mimikyu, and Decidueye Hakamo-o and Kommo-o have no relevance outside of one encounter in the games.

Though Tatl is the best Fairy/Exposition Fairy, imo.

His mechanic should make rupees drop out of the foes he hits. If Tingle collects these rupees his attacks become more stronger, but the other fighters can also remove the rupees from Tingle to depower him. So you have to really protect yourself and your rupees as Tingle when playing him if you want to do your maximum amount of damage.

Chrom is in as an Ike echo
Isabelle? as villager (unsure about this one but there will be a new animal crossing rep and they are an echo fighter)
And finally Funky Kong is going to be an echo of DK
I also know about 4 brand new characters that are finished.
Springman is in (no ribbon girl :L)

Mona is in (Don't know which franchise they are from)

Nah, it's Tingle. Back in the day Nintendo ran a poll asking if North American fans wanted them to translate Tingle's Rupee Land and bring it over and people overwhelmingly voted no. Fi's hated but not on that level.

Speaking of Zelda characters, seeing how each character now basically represents a different game, I think a Hyrule Warriors rep is all the more likely now. I put my money on Impa.

In terms of Zelda, Impa is my most wanted character with a prwferred mix of her appearance in Hyrule warriors and of Skyward Sword. A hard hitting character with a little of Shiek’s agility and mobility but Ike’s reach and stopping power. Plus water and shadow magic.

If not Impa, then either Fi, Skull Kid, or Lana. Fi is kind of interesting as a gigantic sword would be fun to transform and attack with. Like her up Smash would be like Marth’s but would just be a giant sword. Skull Kid would be the master troll character. And Lana would be fun as she had a ton of interesting abilities taken from HW.

Since we're on the topic of Zelda newcomers, due to Midna's deconfirmation, Impa is my most wanted. I just hope that she wouldn't end up being a clone of Shiek. She's fit the part, but would disrespect what Impa can really do.

We don't know if it was the Chorus Kids. We just know it was Rhythm Heaven-related. The problem is we have no indication it was them beyond the Gematsu leak only. We have indication that the series was meant to have a character at some point via the logo found among the data, but that's it. It's just a hypothetical it was them due to 3DS issues possibly holding them back like with Ice Climbers and Pokemon Trainer.

It's possible somebody else was the ideal one, and maybe the rhythmatic gameplay was unfeasible, for all we know. We don't know enough. It's a reasonable conclusion to think it was them, but we should keep an open mind that it wasn't confirmed it was them. Sakurai has yet to speak on some scrapped ideas. He never spoke of why Wolf was gone, or who the Rhythm Heaven rep was. In fact, he might be planning a RH character, so doesn't want to spill the beans.

If they were going to make a Tetris stage I would actually like if it was based on Tetris DS, that way you could have the Nintendo flair that the game had, and it could be considered ROB's home stage (if they don't make a Gyromote stage).

Also, it's extremely unlikely, but I would love to see Battlefield and Final Destination allow you to play the previous games' versions of them, music and everything.

Tingle Tuner was actually pretty neat though. I loved the puzzle and partner aspect of it.

I'm not completely against the idea of Impa as a unique fighter, but this just sounds unbalanced to hell. When you have a character with this many positive attributes to them, frankly, why play anybody else?
Personally, I would love Tingle. Mostly just to see the internet explode with **** like "SMASH HAS TINGLE, RIOT" and "TINGLE GOT IN BUT NOT WALUIGI?!?!" Plus, he's one of the only recurring Zelda characters not already represented in the roster, so he at least has that going for him. That said, I absolutely expect him to just be part of Great Bay again, so I'm not getting my hopes up there.

Mario universe already has enough characters. Having a DK rep is the only exception I would make even though I don't want anymore characters from the Mario Universe. I honestly feel like Fire Emblem should further expand their representatives into 8 characters with one being Chrom and a New FE character who are both unique. Totally not bias here and add Hector while you at it............

Yes, I group all characters that has consistently appeared in Mario games.

A third rep from a single game in a franchise that has a revolving door of hundreds of characters across 8 (9 with Three Houses) continents and 15 other games would be kinda sad.

As someone in the link said, even people who hate Ashley acknowledge that she'd be next in line if Wario Ware got another rep. She was already an assist trophy, was one of the few ATs that their own Mii costumes by popular demand, and, like Isabelle, has her own line of stickers with that one 3DS game that currently escapes me... There's a side of me that wants it to be a typo and they really meant Monita from Nintendo Land; what a great WTF character that would be. People would be sooooo pissed, I'd love it.
