Tripping

In previous installments of Smash Bros., I felt that those who practiced too much were on too high of a level then those who did not have the time to play or who just played Smash Bros. So I decided to bring in. . .A leveler if you will.

And it's all while being comic at the same time!

What is it you say? Glad you asked!

You're just about to win an intense battle against your foe. . .You've worked long and hard for this. . .

What's this?!? You tripped! Oh how hilarious!

Now the tide has turned in your enemy's favor!

You've lost the battle! Oh how humiliating!

Now in Smash Bros., anyone can play against one another as the playing field has been made even! You could have been the best player in the world in previous installments, but you could still lose to somebody playing for the first time! Isn't it exciting? Now everybody can get into the act!

I've been taken out of 2 tournaments because of tripping...

You know...people won't even play a game if there's no work involved in getting good. Tripping has cost me many a stock...or just messed up my rhythm of doing things. It costs me a random match when I'm using characters I don't normally use here and there. Removing hit stun was the leveler for Brawl Why add tripping? If you're going to try and make a leveler, then make everyone equally broken like in Starcraft and then just have different strategies. Then it comes down to skill. Still....Starcraft is the only game where equally broken is fun. When it comes to fighting games...I like a challenge.

No, he didn't want to make it more realistic, he wanted to make it less competitive. Now that I look at the whole situation though, I've come to believe it wasn't Sakurai's intention to tone down the competitive nature, I believe he was pressured by Nintendo execs to do it.

Man, I hate tripping!!!
I have lost matches because of that!!! They NEED to take it out of SSB4 or just make it an option.
I vote for making it an option, for people that want it in (SUPER casual gamers).
I'm OK with tripping on Bananas, because it's an item that you can avoid, but tripping randomly is the most HORRIBLE feature that they could have ever put in there!!!

One thing that's annoying about tripping (besides all of it) is that he put in an item that causes tripping (banana). And then to make things worse, he makes a character that can SPAWN said item that causes tripping.

That debate is old. It wouldn't have taken to long for someone to have idea of putting all the Nintendo chars against each other (I bet a lot of people had thought about it before the release of smash 64). Also, IIRC, it was Nintendo's idea to make smash not sakurais. He just made it for them.

Saying that he could have done it better then anyone is something you can't and never will be able to prove.

What I respect the most about Ike is that his Up Throw involves him planting his sword into the ground in favor of double-uppercutting his opponent.

That being said, Roy haz teh Ph1R3z and he's so awesome that he spends most of his time smacking his opponents with the flat of his blade (sourspotting) instead of cutting them.
