I'm thinking we'll get 2 newcomers and most of the obvious veterans revealed like Wario, Ness, Captain Falcon, Meta Knight, Ice Climbers,Yoshi.

Hopefully the newcomers are Mewtwo or Ridley, and Isaac.

there were some supposed leaks on mt moon. a pokemon forum. they say that yoshi, cap falc, pac man and takamaru are coming.
Do you have a link? I'm searching the forum, but ending up on a blank in regards to any Smash Bros topics.

That is what I am known for, friend. I always call myself pretentious; at least I am honest. :awesome:
I can cognize the appeal of verbose verbiage entirely, however, it is occasionally optimal to adjourn from being a highfalutin sesquipodalian and au fait.

Edit: Not sure how to spell the fourth-to-last word.

So, what is the time for EDT?

I think we'll probably get two or three character announcements and then an in-depth look at new stages, features and gameplay changes.

Let's not get over ourselves now.
I don't think we'll get more than three characters (two vets, a newcomer). MAYBE four in total, with two vets and two newcomers, but that's already the best case scenario imho.

I'd love a reveal for every installment (Yoshi for Smash64, Ice Climbers for Melee, Snake for Brawl and a newcomer for example).

Anything less than my entire dream cast revealed at once will be a disappointment.
(best case scenario imo is ness/captain falcon, Icies, and Shulk reveal with super sneaky snake after the direct seems to end.)

What would be amazing is if the direct was talking about how hard it's been on Sakurai so he's no longer developing, and Iwata says "Please understand" and the game is delayed. It would just be dead silence for like, hours.
Um, how would that be amazing?

This is going to be big... Really big. I don't think you guys realize the implications of just how big this could be and I'm surprised nobody's is talking about the earth shattering facts that:

1. They launched a Twitter account to celebrate this event.
2. They are giving us a four and a half day notice on all this.

The second one is especially important. Aside from the E3 Directs, there has NEVER been a Nintendo Direct that has been announced more than 24 hours in advance. They want to make sure Smash fans around the world are watching and have plenty of time to prepare. Sakurai: "Got school? Play hooky. Got work? Call in sick. Wife wants you to visit inlaws? Get a divorce. There's no stopping this hype train."
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!

RIDLEY YEAHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!
Errmmm...what happens now?

Ow.......yh......

Groose's Prediction
Iwata starts introducing the Direct. He says he has a new trailer. It turns out to be for Mii, but the "Warning: Challenger Approaching" banner appears and Pac-Man is also revealed. Iwata then takes the spotlight again and announces that the game will be released in late July before sending the stream over to Sakurai himself.

Sakurai takes some time to show off all of the newcomers that have been revealed so far, focusing especially on Mii and Pac-Man. He starts out on the 3DS version and makes a couple of remarks about it, but he then switches to the Wii U version for good. He shows characters on a couple of different stages, with one of them being Pyrosphere--interestingly enough, Ridley is nowhere in sight despite over thirty seconds of footage.

After a couple minutes of showing off moves in a training mode, he enters into a Vs. Match and we get to see Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man go head to head. In addition to seeing some items (mostly confirmed ones, but one or two new reveals), we get to see how the game is really coming along. Sakurai end by showing a brief tease of the game's customization feature, and assures that the game will have many modes in which to play. He thanks the viewers and asks them to keep checking Miiverse and the website for the daily updates.

Groose Wants

1) Two newcomers. I expect one or two, and I'd love the upper end of that. I really don't need to see any veterans, but a reworked Ganondorf would be nice.
2) One of the following: Ridley, Shulk, or King K. Rool. My three most wanted, and all of them are possible.
3) Gameplay! I need to see a full match!
4) 3DS footage. It's the version I'll get first, so I'd like to see the first footage from it since E3!
5) A release date by the end of June. I doubt it will happen, but I'd love this. The friend I play Smash with the most (and the one who I was going to do the midnight launch with) is moving a few states over in July, and I myself head to college in August.

Well I see 10 pages of this thread popped up over night.

So I've got a question for ya'll. I won't be able to watch the direct until an hour or so after it airs, but I still want to watch the direct unspoiled. How would I get to a video of the direct without spoiling myself along the way? I feel like if I look it up on youtube/google/the smash stie/miiverse/smashboards I'll run smack into "SUPER SMASH BROS TRAILER RIDLEY REVEALED" before I get to/can watch the actual direct video.

That's actually a really good point. The summer is generally a notoriously slow time for game releases and with many cultures around the world having some sort of concept of a "summer vacation" I think it would be a smart move on Nintendo's part to release this in July or August. Plus by doing this they could have more focus on other games at E3 since it could be raining nukes outside and Smash games would still sell stupidly well so it really doesn't matter when they release them.
Yeah, it kinda raises some brows. Why have a Smash specific Direct a couple months away from E3??? One could argue that Nintendo is doing a Direct to make-up for the lackluster month that was March (All subjective of course). But, I'm sure these Directs are planned a couple weeks to a month in advance. Sakurai could of easily revealed a character last month, and then included a newcomer trailer/veteran reveal to go along with April's Nintendo Direct; just to pad out the hype until E3.

So, this Direct is intentional. This isn't like the W101 exclusive Direct where Kamiya(?) was worried about the game's market visibility. A game like Smash doesn't need Directs to raise market visibility. This Direct could mean many things; it could be a perfect time to establish its late summer release date. And as you mentioned, Nintendo could be trying to get the bulk of the Smash related news out now, and keep the news relatively light for E3. As the game would be out in about a month to a couple weeks, and with smash news kept light they can focus on newly revealed games.

...Or Nintendo is trying to ease us into waiting longer for the game by giving us heaps of content to occupy us for the long haul. I just hope that doesn't mean early 2015.

As I said earlier, I think there's going to be at least two newcomers with one being someone immensely popular and the other being more obscure. For the popular one, I think it'll either be Mewtwo or Ridley and they'll simply save the other for E3. As for the more obscure one, there's a lot of people they could go with. There's the supposed Palutena and Chrom leaks and then there's characters that nicely fit the bill like Issac, Shulk, and Takamaru. I, however, am not expecting a third party character (except maybe Snake) and feel that would be more appropriate as a reveal for E3. Personally, I'd like it if the set up was the same as E3 and we got three newcomers with one being wildly popular (Megaman), one having a small but dedicated fanbase (Villager), and one being a wild card from out of left field (the WTF WFT). Of course, I also want to see them knock out a number of the super obvious veterans like Yoshi, Wario, and Ness and finally end the debates for some of the more controversial ones like Ike (I find the Ike vs Chrom debates the most tedious of any character discussion), Shiek, and PT.

I was at school E3 2013. Before I went, I loge out of Youtube and cleared my history and suggestions and stuff. As soon as I got home, I searched "Nintendo Direct E3 2013" and clicked the to option. Fortunately, none of the titles or thumbnails spoiled me, but that could be a problem.

If you really want, I could send you a link to the version that Nintendo posts after it comes out; it has no spoilers. That way, you'd just have to avoid reading the front page here and you'd be unspoiled.

I can post a link on your profile page if you want. All you would have to do is just bookmark your profile page (I'm pretty sure Smashbaords will have spoilers on their main page.) so you won't run the risk of navigating the net and coming across spoilers.

How the Smash Direct will start:

I'm glad I wasn't drinking my soda because that sauce would have been nasal spray in 0.3 seconds.

Tuesday cannot come soon enough! I want to hibernate or time travel or something because Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are going to be the longest days ever. Also, for the direct, I'm expecting a newcomer reveal and at least one veteran. And a release window. But most of all, I'm hoping for Pac-Man (even though I think they'd still hold off until E3 for him if he's in).

Oh hey look, there I am! I'm up there in lights... along with Frosty and the rest of you great guys. I hope I get to stick around for many days of happy smashing.

Leo: This is Blasphemy... this is Sparta!

MaskO': Sparta... THIS IS MADNESS!!!! (Hands teacup)

Doesn't it seem weird that those are for the standard time settings, and not for the daylight time settings? My region's time setting is EDT right now.
That is strange... Sakurai said PST though, IIRC. Not sure if it was a mistake or not.

Now back to InFamous:SS, but I'll be back.

Last time we had a Direct catered to American viewing hours, Little Mac came out in a trailer paying homage to Western animation and art style.

One word: Ridley.

Naw you don't have to go through the trouble. That gives me an idea though, it looks like I should be fine if just I keep a page open on the Nintendo direct archive page on nintendo.com before I go to class, then refresh it and watch the new direct when I get home. There don't seem to be any spoilers on that page.

Maybe... that is why they pulled off the Sonic reveal in October 2007 when they did but, unlike back then, it's only April, we only have a very vague release date, and the game has already been in development for several months longer than Brawl was. Would they call a 2015 release this early in the year? Sakurai didn't even feel comfortable showing daily pics with Brawl until the game was nearly a year and a half in development and we've already had them for nearly 10 months now. It'd just be really strange for this to be a way to appease the fans when E3 is barely 2 months away and we've already seen a ton as it is.

I expect 3-4 characters revealed, one of them being newcomers. The others being veterans. Maybe some new stages, but mainly just some updates on characters.

No amount of gifs can explain dis hype... lest I take up the whole internet. This will do for now

A mere gif isn't going to cut it. We need the full thing!
