Smash Bros Direct on April 8th, 3pm PST!!

I guess I'm selfish for saying this, but I would be very disappointed if they were released at different times. I'm only getting the 3DS version so if the Wii U version came out 3 months before, I'd be forced to spoil the game. Can't avoid stuff like that for 3 months :/. I want this to be the first Smash game I don't spoil!

Oh, and I'm so hyped for this direct.

I'm really the opposite - I've got my fingers crossed for a 3DS delay, even though I plan on getting both versions. The Wii U really needs both Mario Kart and Smash 4 this year (preferably around the same time for maximum impact), and it'd be senseless of Nintendo to negate SSB4's potential as a system seller by releasing the 3DS version at the same time. Hoping to see a delay, and an upshoot in Wii U ownership as a result. Still, it's a shame the Wii U is in this position to begin with.

I was at school E3 2013. Before I went, I loge out of Youtube and cleared my history and suggestions and stuff. As soon as I got home, I searched "Nintendo Direct E3 2013" and clicked the to option. Fortunately, none of the titles or thumbnails spoiled me, but that could be a problem.

If you really want, I could send you a link to the version that Nintendo posts after it comes out; it has no spoilers. That way, you'd just have to avoid reading the front page here and you'd be unspoiled.

Going on what you said, If I have something going on, I'm pulling up the Direct page and leaving it, that way I can jump right it.

IIRC when Sakurai was posed with the question if the two will release at the same time, he said that the 3DS version might come out later, depending on the situation. It was in one of the E3 interviews I believe. Makes sense too, since it seems that things are ported from the Wii U version to the 3DS version, judging from Bowser's unanimated hands and other details like WFT's gradually changing outline over time, which obviously means that the 3DS version is the one furthest behind.

If nintendo doesn't want to show secrets characters, palutena, ridley and shulk are the most likely candidates for a reveal (i was going to had K.Rool but he'll probably be an unlockable character)

And even if i'm wrong, there is one thing i'm sure of, we're going to get the release date, and that's the best info we can get.

I just figured they'd focus more on utilizing the horsepower of Wii U with Smash, but that statement does perhaps mean that development of the game started on Wii U first then later on 3DS. Which could indicate why it's behind.

I highly doubt the 3DS version will release earlier, and I doubt it'll release alongside. From a business perspective it just doesn't make sense - the Wii U needs a boost and Iwata has admitted that. No way will they allow one of their biggest chances for that this year to go unutilized just for the sale of a synchronized release.

I'm hoping for a release date come Tuesday so we know one way or another.

Maybe... that is why they pulled off the Sonic reveal in October 2007 when they did but, unlike back then, it's only April, we only have a very vague release date, and the game has already been in development for several months longer than Brawl was. Would they call a 2015 release this early in the year? Sakurai didn't even feel comfortable showing daily pics with Brawl until the game was nearly a year and a half in development and we've already had them for nearly 10 months now. It'd just be really strange for this to be a way to appease the fans when E3 is barely 2 months away and we've already seen a ton as it is.

The 2015 statement was joke, but when I said long haul I meant Q4 holiday release. I do think late July to mid August would be a great time for Smash. I can already see us getting Bayonetta 2 & X anytime from early September to late November, especially when Bayonetta 2 is coming out this summer in Japan. So I would assume it would make it to Europe and America in the fall once localized. And I am optimistic that Zelda U will be 2014's December holiday finale game like how 3D World was last year.

I also wonder if Smash will get an international release like Pokémon X/Y did.

I've been looking around the web and a lot of people seem to think Mii is a lock for this Direct. I might end up eating my words but I think Mii would be reserved for E3 and used as a way to promote Tomodachi: New Life's localization in NA, EU, and AU. On to other people who have potential to be shown, Palutena has a buttload going for her and I'd be genuinely surprised if she wasn't one of the ones revealed on Tuesday. I mean... c'mon guys... holy crap... I might as well list them:

1. The Kid Icarus stages for both the 3DS and Wii U have already been revealed.
2. The Reset Forest stage was the first new 3DS stage shown after the E3 trailer.
3. Palutena's Temple was the first new stage shown off in 2014.
4. The X Bomb was the first new item shown after E3.
5. Kid Icarus already has two new items shown.
6. Sakurai acknowledged the e-shop release of Uprising back in November.
7. Sakurai acknowledged the 2 year anniversary of Uprising last month.

and, of course:

8. The hole proof Palutena leak.

Keep in mind that this has all been for a franchise that canonically only consists of two games with a 25 year gap between them. Sakurai likes to try to act modest but his bias for his adopted kids is painfully obvious. There's no way in hell that Kid Icarus is going to only stand with one character and Palutena's easily at the front of the line. Even if she somehow takes a dive, you can bet someone's going to be standing with Pit on the character select screen.

This is going to be big... Really big. I don't think you guys realize the implications of just how big this could be and I'm surprised nobody's is talking about the earth shattering facts that:

1. They launched a Twitter account to celebrate this event.
2. They are giving us a four and a half day notice on all this.

The second one is especially important. Aside from the E3 Directs, there has NEVER been a Nintendo Direct that has been announced more than 24 hours in advance. They want to make sure Smash fans around the world are watching and have plenty of time to prepare. Sakurai: "Got school? Play hooky. Got work? Call in sick. Wife wants you to visit inlaws? Get a divorce. There's no stopping this hype train."

Also, I just want to put this on the record, in case it turns out I have psychic dreams.

In another thread, I mentioned how, two separate times, I had a dream about Peach and Toon Link being revealed, like less than a week before each was revealed, respectively.

Before I knew about this Direct, last night I had a dream about the April Direct revealing Ridley and Takamaru. I don't even know much about Takamaru at all, but Ridley was shown at the beginning with Takky at the end.

I'm not predicting or expecting this, but it'd be pretty crazy how I've been able to dream-predict at least 3 things without any prior knowledge.

Toon Link and Peach happened before I joined here, before I even knew about reveals that make sense. At those times I just thought they were random.

Sure it did make sense, but I didn't know at the time. So maybe I'm psychic.
