recently got 2nd seed in my pool with Zelda the other day, but then I lost to a bad Falco and a decent Marth. I'd hate to say that I lost focus in bracket but I was tearing it up in pools and I just played so much worse in bracket...

Saw the title of this thread and I can totally relate... though it seems Fuujin beat me to this thread.

I play Melee from time to time and... Zelda feels so much better in Melee than Brawl. Granted she sucks in both games but Zelda is actually a LOT of fun in Melee.

The feeling of beating a high/top tiered character with Zelda... just awesome

Yeah I got a chance to play the actual Melee players from BC. They are super tough!

Still though I play Zelda in both Melee and even more so in Brawl and Melee's Zelda is just more fun and a better character.

Yeah if you get good with high tier characters it makes most low tier characters a lot less fun to play because they're so limited. I think that characters like mewtwo or yoshi could be just as fun to play if you're actually technical enough to use them at the highest level of play, but most low tier characters just don't have that combo potential. I still have a lot of fun with zelda and she is and will forever be my main (even though I use other characters much more in friendlies). For zelda it's more about getting reads and doing crazy edgeguards I think. Sometimes you can pull of some pretty interesting combos/tech chase stuff but even then they're pretty short.

So today I realized one of the sexiest Zelda tricks is bairing Marth from the ledge as he up-b's from below the stage. (instead of just standing there and down smashing)

Yoshi isnt really a limited character at all.. other than the whole my Up-B throws an egg and gives me an inch of vertical.

My favourite thing to do with Zelda is to up-B stall on the ledge while their near me (or until they grow impatient and approach). get tripped up by the hit box that comes just over the ledge, then ledgehop fair.

Yoshi's is definitely my favorite Zelda stage.

Followed by Stadium for some reason. Just get them in the pit of the rock transformation and dsmash the xxxx out of them. WAY better than drill shines, obviously.

well yea... there is a learning curve...
you're also using a low tier, which means you can't rely on your character's ability as much.

best way to get good at melee is to attend as many smashfest and tournaments as possible.

i'd also recommend using a slightly higher tier secondary for those crappy matchups.
(I myself rock dat pocket fox)

I find Falcon to be a very winnable matchup... Never done any others... Well 1 jiggs.

I Just found that by knowing my attack speed, plus knowing the other characters options makes it easier for me to take control...

Also I do a lot of up-B stalls until they get annoyed and approach.
