gotta watch you landings. you use the dair stall well once or twice but one you use both your jumps and dair isn't a viable option you cant land near oli he will always grab you.
watch the dsmashes man. you can't dsmash when you expect a sheild drop it is WAY to high risk espeacilly against Oli with his long grab range and kill throws.
if you get behind oli and can ftilt just stay in that range it is so hard for him to punish anything you can do from there ftilt and jab until he makes a mistake. if you know he'll hold his shield you can mix in grabs.

take advantage of plats. if those are available use your second jump to move away instead of approaching. after that second jump is gone all you can do is land so use it very wisely. a lot of the time I'll jump off stage for the ledge if I'm not comfortable with my landing options.

I saw situations where oli would be in shield and you'd be in front of him waiting for some action as his shield lowered. you guess for that shield drop with a spaced dsmash. better option would be just sh spaced fair to jab 1 or a sh stomp to jab 1 if you want to stay close and apply that shield pressure.

in those higher risk situations its fine to back off and pivot needle in the mid range.

btw tutu I love your shiek! :)

The amount of fear Cross was showing against busa's Snake was disgusting. He had some neat tricks, though.

great DACUS reads, imo you should control ZSS' airspace more, your tilts are great interrupters/baits for her aerials and when she short hops. Avoid going to high, it cost you a lot when he started catching on and stringing you with uairs and a couple of landing traps.

@Purple (was only able to watch the last vid for some reason)--I really liked your movement pacing with Sheik. Nice DACUS reads as well.

Only thing I'd say is to work a bit more on implementing throws. Her grab range increases dramatically while she's dashing. Good mix up oppertunity with DACUS and standard dash attack as well.

With her combo strings, try to add a bit more spice from her ftilt. 2-3 kicks into dgrab into uair or fair, or 2-3 kicks into dtilt into fsmash. Another good one is 2-3 kicks into dtilt at lower damage. Her combos rack up the damage like that, and it gives you some variety.

As phi1ny3 said, try to avoid going too high in the air on predictable approaches. It's horribly unsafe alot of the time, since Sheik is so easy to KO due to weight even at lower levels. I've seen Sheik get KO'd as low as 50% off a standard Uair from some characters (and even then she wasn't THAT high up).

Just to spice it up some.

It's obviously up to personal preference, but other options are always nice.

Up until the last stock TKD had a hard time trying to get in on that Pit it seemed. He fell into a lot of trouble when at times he tried to fish for kills when Pit was high percent.

Hopefully I'll have some offline matches to critique this weekend, going to try and play as many people I can at Collision and get some replays for critique.

You can tell how much exp. Suinoko has in the MU, I really loved his mixups. Earth did pretty well though considering he seems like he's not been in touch with the MU as much.

ZSS is very hard to play against sheik if you don't know what you're doing imo. Sheik has some really good anti-air, and ironically, ZSS is actually sorta flimsy underneath, so each time she SHs, she's taking some risks.

oh yeah, and a ton of stuff sheik does is safe on block against ZSS too lol

I think tree could've used more nair and fair up in her shield, he sorta got a little too scared of her. If you can mix these up, they do pretty well in making a ZSS have to play more passive aggressive and space stuff.

Game 1 vs Penta: I honestly feel I could have came out with the win, but the last stock I kinda lost all senses because of nerves and rushed in and got bodied.

Serious Friendly vs Allied: Played him for 2 reasons; 1. I've played him on Wifi before and got destroyed lol and knew him from there, and 2. You all were talking about the Wario MU so was an opportunity to get some games against him, unfortunately I had to go after.

v. Penta: You definitely know how to play the neutral game, you have clean punishes, good spacing, all of that. What the problem seems to be is what happens when he starts a juggle on you. 90% of your juggles, although jump is usually the best option in this MU, a good player will kill you for this habit (he could have easily waited for your air dodge coming down and hit you with a fair or smash, or a simple upB to put you in a really bad spot offstage). Sometimes it's ok to be a little ballsy, some options to help are:
-needle reverse (if you're facing towards him) -> bair while DIing away
-well-timed nair (if you get really close, it makes it hard to react to, and they have to start guessing whether it's going to be an air dodge, or an aerial)
-falling air dodge
-the very occasional dair right above their head (the stop animation throws people off, and if he's looking for a smash or grab to punish, you can do this to save yourself. Very last resort though, because of the ridiculous cooldown).
I seriously want to know what he thought about that chain troll. That was so awesome lol :p

v. Allied: First off, is this Allied, like the guy who plays SCII? Anyways, really good match, I really like your sheik's playstyle. Those empty SHs and the threat with fair and bair are definitely useful, once again, I think the main thing that went wrong was the Zelda choke (I'm sure that was an accident), and those double jumps when you're getting pressured from underneath. Other than that, you seem to be doing fine.

v. Dark.Pch: These matches are where you started to lose some composure. There were definitely more habits that were exploited. One thing you have to remember: when you're in a position with limited options, it's very important to not always choose the "best" one, or the one you're most comfortable with. If you're getting dthrown by snake, you don't always want to roll away, right? Same goes for when you're on the ledge, you noticed you did a lot of edgehops, and Peach got some easy kills because of that. Her aerials are really good at covering nearly every option, but if you mix things up, you can get back onstage a little more easily. Doing things like ledgejump (fun fact, you have no post-lag after the invincibility between the ledgejump and your next option, so depending on your timing, you can still fair them coming back up, or air dodge), or a regular ledge standup, a roll, etc. Just make sure you don't do the same things over again. On the first match, you really threw out moves when you were behind in stock. Peach loves it when you throw out laggy moves, this matchup is all about patience, spacing, and control over the "pre-emptive" zone between you. Second match, smart DACUS, I was beginning to wonder whether you used it at all, but yeah, DACUS is fun against peach because if they don't expect it, they practically set themselves up to get hit by it if they're spacing "properly". Smart idea to wait until the plat came to jump up to it while on the ledge, this helps a lot in certain MUs and it's part of the reason why I think SV shouldn't be knocked immediately as Sheik's worse neutral of the three.

Third match was a lot of luck lol, bomb, beam sword, and crazy stuff. One thing I saw that was better was your edge mixups though. >100% ledge attack is really cool because it's bad on block like all getup attacks, but against someone that's trying to punish lag (like peach), it can really surprise them, because of that low cooldown. Once again, smart stuff, just a really unlucky umbrella reverse gimp. If you time your invincibility without the tether, you can still hit her with a bair/nair to beat out her parasol, but the timing is very tight as you've noticed, because you have to make sure you have the invincibility lol.
4th match, lol zelda. If you do stick with zelda, use more of her dtilt and nair, those are very bread and butter moves for her, ftilt is also somewhat useful for spacing as well, but it takes some time to learn when to use it. Now that while you were getting killed onstage because Dark.Pch was adapting, notice that you didn't get hit as often when you were on the ledge? That's an improvement in my book, now you just need to put the pieces all together, and assemble all of your game.
5th match @ 1:06, this is good, you learned about 50% earlier that you shouldn't always go after whiffed peach aerials (esp. retreating bair), and you waited right outside. This is good, smart play, and you picked a good punish for dsmash. Very close game, just some mistakes (of course, that's the problem with sheik, one mistake for her = 3-5 messups for most of the other cast lol), but really, really solid play. Also, lol @ chain edgeguard XD

You do most of your practice from wifi, right? If so, I might have reason to change my opinion that it doesn't help significantly for sheik because of you haha. Very good, I hope you get more matches, I think you can do some real damage using sheik, there's just a couple of rough edges you need to smooth out first.

Thanks for the thorough critique! Vs Dark.Pch I really see what you mean, I did go for the getup a LOT and I realized that in the games after that. I think the ledge is one of my biggest problems, I panic at times and just fall into things and get more frustrated. Also for edge guarding I need to properly space my chain when I use it because as you saw I did get hit by the getup a couple times.

I really wish I got to get all of my matches saved. I played A Tink, Snake, MK, Rob, ZSS, and a Samus too.

Vs. Penta, I've literally fought 1 GnW ever and that was SMMC in like 2 games. It was kind of a new experience for me, and for him too. He didn't know about the chain and he got caught in it he was just like *facepalm*. People behind us were like LOL 300%?

Vs. Allied Starcraft? Yes I believe so. The Zelda part was suuuuuuch an accident, I just got sad at that lmao. Was supposed to be a fast fall into a needle pivot and I messed up.

You can't imagine the amount of people I caught off guard that didn't know that after respawning and switching to Zelda you're still invincible for like, the dash of half of FD (Distance wise), such easy Up Smash kills lmao.

This was my first Offline Tournament since I've come back to Brawl in November and only been to 2 before that in 2009 before I quit. All of my training has come from Wifi, hence why some of my like Platform Cancels and Needle Pivots were off a little.

Once again thanks for the critique! Got another tournament on the 3rd in which I'll definitely get some more replays, and hopefully a better result.

Hi, I need to improve my sheik. If you can give me tips on how to get better in general that would be greatly appreciated :)

Vs DLA on Wifi

Vs my Friend offline

Thanks in advance
On both of these matches, they're a bit "rough" in how you use your moves, space, and create pressure. Look at matches of strong sheik players like Cross, notice how everything seems to fit together, cohese into some purpose. When you do a move, you should be observing what it's good at, and what it isn't, and think "Based on how effective it is when I'm using it in x way, when should I use this move"? Against DLA, you didn't respect his shield, and you also were commiting to moves that you shouldn't have thrown out so wantonly. Fsmash is a move you want to use sparingly, especially if you think the opponent is able to block it easily. If you want to land rewarding moves like that, think of ways to make your opponent uncomfortable or unable to pull up the best response. For example, when you did dsmash or fsmash, DLA merely shielded it and punished hard. Think, "okay, shield beats these moves, how can I discourage that?" Maybe throw in some moves that are hard to punish when blocked, or grabs, or even remove the shield from the equation altogether, like putting him up in the air and setting up for a juggle trap.

You also should try out using all of sheik's moves and get a good feel for what they do, and how they work differently in each matchup. You could've used a lot more of her jabs and tilts, they're really awesome and are very elemental for her game. Your game can't revolve around limiting yourself to a couple of moves, even the best players of their character utilize all their moves correctly. Imo this is what is the key to bumping up from a lower level of play, to someone more competent, and although it's basic knowledge, it's very important.

Against the G&W, although you won, I think your next goal is to avoid getting hit as often. You got hit by a lot of smashes, neutral B projectiles, and dairs from him. Think about what made you get hit by those in the first place. Instead of fishing for usmash or uairs, for example, try jumping a little off to the side of the G&W if you think he's going to use dair. Now instead of being hit, you're right next to him, he has some landing lag from dair, and now you can bair or hit him with an aerial, which basically is free damage, instead of taking the damage from dair and risking doing nothing back.

@Tutu was that towards me? If so anything will help

@BlackGold I know I'm one to talk, but don't hit his shield for no reason really, he'll just punish you for it. Try grabbing more, and be more patient. Pretty much the theme of the DLA match. Get a feel of what works and what doesn't and mix it up a little more. Actually know why you're going in to attack, don't just attack and say "I hope this works"

Yeah the problem is people think they can get in a punish and try to get in, and before you know it, they've got 60% on them. You have to be careful about being behind her too, because it pulls you in from behind lol.

Hey. Had a money match vs. a pika. It was the first time i went shelda seriously in the matchup instead of going full shiek, and I was looking for any possible comments/critiquing.

Game 1

Game 4
He decided to go PT here. (I think he prefered the idea of being squirtle at Yoshi's rather than pikachu I guess.) Figured I'd link it anyway. Ending is kinda funny. lol
