Actually, I know that the answer is because not enough people replied with #ReimuForSmash or #QuoteForSmash, but why isn't Reimu or Quote on there? You'd think with all these indie characters going into Smash Bros, they'd push for either of these guys hard in Japan, but they aren't even in the top 10!

Neither Japan nor Europe have any indie representation.In both groups pretty much everyone in the top 10 is the protag of some AAA game or franchise.

Holy ****! Shantae beat Geno and Bandana Dee on this poll. It's like I said, too many people outside of the Shantae fanbase underestimate our girl and her popularity.

Also, Sora was number 2 in Japan and number 1 in both the USA and Europe. Hmm... interesting.

Regarding the milk leak I think and believe the female character is her. Given the looks of a fighting game character because of her baggy pants and of course some of the spirits in the street fighter series have baggy pants which I have noticed when looking at the collection. And of course her hairy ol weapon. Source Gaming had a giant collective data poll that had data from a bunch of different polls from all the regions during the Smash Ballot and Shantae ranked at number 5. So she is very popular.

Square may own Sora as a character (I'm not really sure as I have heard Sora supporters say they do) but they certainly don't own all the Disney elements that surround him. And Micky's head is everywhere in that series. So for Sora to get in, they would need to redesign everything about him that has a Disney copyright to it. Heck even his big goofy feet are a reference to how he exists in the Disney world...

I want everyone to get what they want, but I just don't see Sora happening because you would have to take too much away from him to remove all the Disney stuff. But there were several characters I would have said were impossible before and Sakurai has got them in anyway, so who knows.

Yeah, his feet are free of copyright, I was just pointing out how entrenched in the Disney aesthetic Sora is. None of his supporting characters (i.e. Donald, Goofy or any of his summons) could show up, the Mickey heads would need to be removed from his Keyblade and Costumes. I don't know, I'm not attached to the character so the compromises might mean more to me than someone who wants him in no matter what, it just seems like a lot of trouble to go through.

I saw it at Anime Expo when it premiered. I highly recommend it if you like Trigger.
It still shocks me that a Western indie studio like Wayforward was able to get a great Japanese animation studio like Trigger to do the opening for Shantae. If WF keeps building connections and gaining support like this I'll be incredibly happy.

About the Campaign:
It's called #UltimateSmash. The point is to let Nintendo and Sakurai know about the characters fans would like to see post Fighters Pass. Since there's no confirmation whether the DLC is already fixed or not, it's better to let our voices be heard just in case, even if the characters are already a likely pick. I can't guarantee success, but with enough demand, anything is possible (Sans Mii costume). The current 4 characters are Geno, Crash, Shantae and Paper Mario. More will follow if successful.

Like, retweet, and share the link below with as many people as you can to increase it's chances of being seen. Careful about spamming, though. I will do a new wave after every character reveal when Twitter is buzzing. Good luck and fingers crossed!

It appears Risky didn't exist in the story at this time and the bad guys were these evil genies called the Jins. I wonder if the Jins will ever resurface in a future Shantae game. Perhaps that will be the game we will finally get to see Shantae's mother.

I could see that. The Pirate Master just seemed way too powerful to be a average human or pirate so I could totally see him as a genie/Jin with all the magic **** he was able to pull off.

2B's likely the next one against Shantae. And she's likely higher than Shantae in a good chunk of the world, though I don't know my Nier: Automata that well, but I know it released in 2017. If we're going by proxies: Rex with Pyra or Mythra is likely the actual closest female character to contend with Shantae at the moment.

If we're going by percentiles, Shantae herself has around 22% of the votes, though Sora has around 26% and Bandanna Waddle Dee has 35% of the votes. It's out of a sample size of around 3000 voters, so this is still rather small, but it's not insignificant. Having 22% of around 3000 voters isn't a small feat by its own accord.
