Well, the sudden announcement of Shantae 5 is a *very* welcome surprise! It certainly boosted my hopes regarding Smash as well. I mean, now we have a possibility of Shantae becoming DLC to promote 5!

I’m honestly starting to think some transformations like the Mermaid and Mouse (if it returns, should be more context sensitive cause honestly, why would you use them outside their intended areas?

Monkey could jump off of enemy heads like the blobfish could, elephant could grab and throw things/enemies, and just generally be able to push enemies around to damage each other and make its attacks less risky. Spider has a lot they could do with, grappling, possible platform creation or just bring back the background climbing. Harpy could create gusts of wind to solve puzzles.

It seems different, but not enough that im sure myself about it being shantae 5. (and like the eyes dont look like the new design)
If that's it, I was kinda hoping for a bit more different, but so long as the gameplay is fun that's goo enough like if they make it back more metroidvania.

I agree the eyes on the new design are gorgeous though I think I’ll always personally love HGH’s eyes mainly cause they felt like a natural progression of Bozon’s original style and to me they felt more expressive.

The news of Shantae 5 is a pleasant surprise. The series always reminded me of Wario Land and it's charming platforming. Here's to hoping the game is as good as Pirate's Curse. Also I like the new art style, it's the best that Shantae looked yet.

It's interesting that both smash and shantae started around the same time (well 2-3 years apart), and shantae kinda caught up in a way, since 5's gonna release only 1 year later this time.

Both are like.. brother and sister. they deserve to be together XD

I really feel like I'm that guy who just shows up late to the party, been busy all day and come home to this late at night! Amazing news, really! I already knew this year was gonna be probably my favorite year for the Nintendo Switch, and this new Shantae game proves that. Now what this says about her in Smash, well I can't say. But all I know care about is her series getting more games, and Shantae getting more popular. As per usual, I'm Ret-2-Go!

Here's hoping we get more of an original story like in Pirate's Curse. I loved Half Genie Hero but I was not a fan of them going back to the Risky's doing something evil again plot.

Shantae 5 has me pumped, like, surprisingly so haha! Maybe because we didn't expect it at all. And it's coming later this year already? Damn, the end of the year is going to be packed.

I really like Shantae's artwork in the announcement, but the gameplay clip seems to mix HGH (Shantae's model) and Pirate's Curse (the background). Hopefully that'll end up becoming a great gaming experience, even though it does look a bit same-y at glance.
