Me preparing to stare at several twitter accounts for potential leaks:

The Yoshi leak doesn't even make sense. If the direct wasn't delayed, it STILL wouldn't have aired yet!

So yeah, don't expect too many leaks. That one is just a fluke.

I can't imagine them holding off the direct much longer than Monday. I mean, considering this direct was planned on the day that Nintendo updates the eShop every week makes me think there was probably a "...will be available for download after this presentation" for at least one of the features games.

As is, we are already getting have reveals and release dates that seemed they were meant to be party of the direct, but are now just being announced by their developers because they need to get the information out there.

Nintendo is making the respectful move in giving their fans in that area some time to recover, but I don't they have much wiggle room in how long they can put it off just because the longer they wait the more of it's content will already get reveled.

The direct was supposed to happen on the 6th, and I wouldn't be surprised if the newest announcement was on that demo build. Calling it here, they'll delay it a day or two at most before dropping it. There's also supposed to be a big Splatoon update very soon that many people have speculated to be announced on this direct.

Holding it back for more than a week at least is going to seriously screw them up.

One thing that worries me if Shantae gets added is that she'd be the first playable character that represents an American franchise, and I personally don't like the idea of having a bunch of playable characters from American games. But that's just me.

To me that's a rather odd concern. If some american characters are good enough to be wanted by many fans and nintendo as well, I don't see the issue.
Also, why see games through lenses of origin? If a game is good, it's good. Shantae fits right in. Are you worried Skyrim or Halo would have a chance in smash?

They kind of already do have a chance though, since they already added one non-Nintendo character in, pretty much everyone is fair game now.

On the plus side, I haven't posted in this forums since before Brawl came out, so here I am.

EDIT: And obviously need to change my sig. That link that I don't even remember doesn't even exist anymore O.o

EDIT 2: Also funny how half of my crushed hopes from Brawl made it into the franchise later, while a quater of them got crushed even more for this game O.o

Just something to shoot the ****, but I found it quite hilarious with the latest Sonic Movie coming in. Apparently, Green Hills is going to be set in Montana, making Sonic a native Montanan! even though hedgehogs don't live anywhere in the Americas, let alone the Rocky Mountains of Montana

What is the problem with having American video game characters appear in Smash? Technically, they already added some characters created by Westerners, Diddy Kong and King K. Rool were both created by the British and Dark Samus was created by the Americans, though these characters are now owned by Nintendo. There are still some assist/normal trophies including Shovel Knight, Bit Trip Runner and Rayman, who were created by the Americans and the French, which are not owned by Nintendo.

I'm fine with the possibility of American/Western third parties getting in, especially when Sakurai indirectly admitted that options would get limited by relying solely on Japan's IPs. I could see characters like Earthworm Jim, Duke Nukem, Rayman, Banjo-Kazooie and even Sans fitting in well, especially if said characters are larger-than-life enough.

She went up against Lloyd Irving from the Tales series. But somebody ruined the poll by live streaming them botting votes for her. Wouldn't be surprised if that fact also made people vote in opposition of her just out of spite; if I didn't have any stock in the characters, I know I would have.

Hmm...while I do want some kind of Tales rep, I'd much rather have Velvet Crowe, followed by Yuri Lowell. And with Yuri's game releasing on the Switch soon...I might have to look for another support thread somewhere >.>

I'm fairly convinced that was a Shantae hater who did that to spite the fans. If I was doing that to support Shantae (not that I would ever bot votes), I certainly wouldn't stream that I'm doing it or otherwise make that knowledge public.

Plus these bracket based polls are dumb. A characters representation could get skewed if they get bad matchups.
