That's just it, we don't know what was on that list Sakurai was given if he was given one. Only time can tell for sure
I feel like if Nintendo put Shantae on that list, she would have a phenomenal chance of getting in as she's incredibly unique being a genie that can transform into animals and use spells. She's the definition of moveset potential and I find it being very unlikely for Sakurai to ignore her if she's in front of him as a prime contender.

I personally predict that next month is going to be very barren for Smash (and most Nintendo) speculation. As February has potential to be dominated by Pokemon. 25th anniversary, New Snap game, possible gen 4 remakes, Unite (Ugh...) And pokemon really liked doing thing on or building things up to Pokemon Day.

March however is more promising thanks to the next Amiibo wave

March will also be the send off of the Mario 35th celebration, with if nothing else the Mario Update coming to Animal Crossing. They might also use March to announce any plans they have to treat Zelda's 35th the same way they treated Mario (at least I can hope, a year of Zelda would be amazing)

Don't forget the past 3 character reveals and releases in this pass have not been any more than 2.5-3 months apart. There's still a good shot for FP9 to show up in the next few months

Don't forget Monster Hunter Rise, which Capcom and Nintendo are practically co-promoting.

Predicting challenger 10 in the near future for the summer. Who would it be?
Min Min, Steve/Alex/Zombie/Enderman, and Sephiroth are in.

I'm still wondering why WayForward is holding back the rerelease of Shantae (2002). Some people say it may have been COVID related or something, and yeah, while I understand that, I don't think that's the case. They've held it back for months now.

Especially when it's just a digital download. I know there's a physical run, but that's a limited one

Not gonna lie, this is actually pretty neat.

Also, here's a bonus art of Rotty that one of my fave artists did recently.

It's not like it's being held back for the physical copies Risky Revenge is already on Switch eshop
I mean, it's an old game that would just need work for the Advanced feature at most, so it doesn't make much sense, really (especially since it might be holding back Xtreme Sports' Switch rerelease as a result).

Meanwhile, Mighty Milky Way is still stuck without a rerelease in any capacity. At least Mighty Flip Champs got a deluxe version on the PS3...

Right? It's just a port of a GBC game so how long should that really take to put on the Eshop? But who knows.

There could be reasons behind the development like the GBA feature added, implementing the first adventure concept of the dances, items, collectables, and even the lives system. Still, either this month or March may be the time since LRG on Shantae GBC pre-order date has reach 4 months by now.

Compared to the other shantae games, the GBC seem to hold the most unique mechanics offered for her.

4 months for a reissue of a GBC title is a bit much for LRG isn't it?

The rerelease was announced way back in July, and should everything Dukefire Dukefire mentioned actually come true, then they had plenty of time to add all these features. The game should be ready now, but they are still holding back on releasing it. It's been 7 months since July (it's February today). 7. And we still don't have it. I am definitely starting to believe WayForward has something else up their sleeves they want to share before giving us the GBC game.

Just beware about setting yourself up for the wrong hype. Wayforward is being careful with news as people of the internet is known to blame others when they were lied to or just their own fault.

There will be a few that will do this regardless. No, the fact a GBC title has taken 7 months since it's announcement to yet be released is eyebrow raising no matter how you slice it. A GBC title should run on hardware like the Switch without issue, so it makes no sense for a port of a nearly 20 year old handheld title to take this long

Wayforward isn't Kamiya or Platinum Games. They're not going to hold back a port for a nearly 20 year old game for an additional year
I mean, we currently don't know when any of their current projects (RWBY and Dawn of the Monsters) are releasing this year beyond vague windows, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was enough of an excuse to delay.

Besides, the delay for SSS part 2/'s full console release wasn't announced until the last month of 2019, so it wouldn't exactly be unprecedented.

Ports of older games and brand new games made from scratch aren't the same thing, plus both RWBY and Dawn of the Monsters are published by them, not developed by them.

This is the second time Shantae in a medieval fantasy setting is alluded to. Wonder if they'll pull a hat trick.

What kind of hat trick?
A hat trick is a sports term that means that your team scored three goals in a row. It just means that they wonder if there will be a third reference made to Shantae in a medieval fantasy setting.

If there is a third, I have a feeling they'll wind up running with it and making an actual game about it.

So, I've had a silly thought...

What if they're deliberately holding the game back until the series' 20th anniversary on June next year? Which, uh, would be insane commitment...

I don't think that will happen as Limited Run Games set up pre-orders months ago for Shantae GBC and I don't think WayForward would have allowed them to do that unless it was closer to release. Plus, imagine someone like me who pre-ordered the game from Limited Run not getting it until a year and half later. That would **** a of people off and I don't see that happening.

If they were planning on releasing it next year in June, then either the preorders wouldn't even be up or they would be cancelled and brought back when it gets closer to release. So yeah, a June 2022 release is not happening. It has to be at some point in early 2021.

Guys, I have something to say but please don’t take this too seriously or offended since it’s just one of my things and my opinion. If you don’t like to hear it then I guess ignore it. I just slowly start to go over Shantae for Smash if CP 9 is not her and I would think WayForward’s NDA and anything else is just bull. I know it sounds too negative but you know, got to respect that. I’ll probably leave temporarily. Don’t know but temporary. This is all in case if Shantae doesn’t make it. You know what they say, be honest, be cool and people will respect you.

Do you, boo boo.

This is a discussion thread. Everything we say here could be correct or complete nonsense. Shantae could never have been close to getting in or she could have always been planned for a 2nd fighter pass, but this is a place to talk about the possibilities.

I think if a discussion around a videogame character gives you enough anxiety to apologize for your thoughts or disappoints you to the point that you shut down, you may want to find other hobbies to manage your emotions.

He raises a good point though.
All this talk we have here ultimately doesn't mean much.
The truth regarding what characters are considered and such will always be behind closed doors, unless Sakurai or character owners openly speak up about htis.

But business generally dictates these details to never make it to the public.
Mostly for reasons I can't begin to comprehend.
I guess business figures love their secrecy, not realizing it often makes them look like scheming, manipulating villains.
But I digress...

The point is, none of us can know what happens behind closed doors, no matter how many self-proclaimed (and self-important) "leakers" claim otherwise.
So nothing we as a community say holds much value here (unless of course, it's official news). It means nothing.
Ergo, nothing we tak about here, should trigger that much anxiety and stress.
It's nothing but hot air. So you shouldn't let it bother you that much.

I get that but I only messaged about my feelings and beliefs you should respect it. Just say like, “Do what you got to do”. You know. Its just a game I get it but I have my beliefs and you can’t change that. You don’t have to agree with me or anything. Just leave it. Respect my honesty.
