Honestly, I don't have high hopes for the final fighter in the pass.
I expect another brand deal character as the finale.
Either a Pokemon or even more Fire Emblem.

Well, yes, that'd be cool, but lots of people would complain. Lots of 'who's that?' and disappointment at not going out with a bang.
But Nintendo finished the last pass with Byleth, so who knows XD
They endend the pass with Byleth, the most underwhelming character ( for many people ) knowing there was going to be a 2nd pass.
It makes sense to do it this way knowing that most people already bought the pass anyway thanks to the previous inclusions.
With the real final DLC character, they may take a different approach.
But then again, who knows what will happen xD

64 ended with Ness, Melee ended with Game & Watch, Brawl ended with Wolf, and Smash 4 ended with Bayonetta. Not to say those characters ain't rad, but I wouldn't call them grand finale material. Ultimate I feel like will deliver a final newcomer that will be grand finale material because of it being the Ultimate Smash game.

Some degree of disappointment is going to happen irregardless of who's the final character. There's always someone who "deserves it more".

As for the people who will try to play the "who" card during the reveal or "no one is asking for this", they're full of it. Everyone and their mother has inserted their two cents on this character at some point.

The only way they really don't know is if you're dealing with a Patrick who's been living under a rock with the Smash fandom and it's online community for the entirety of the past half decade. So much so, he doesn't even have a most wanted yet. Or they hail from the east where they collectively aren't anywhere near that rude or selfish.

Love her or hate her, every western Smasher on the internet damn well recognizes Shantae.

So if Shantae is in Fighter's Pass 2 which slot you think she will be?
I'm betting on the next one. I think Covid pushed the fighter pack release schedule back by a couple months, so FP9 would've theoretically lined up best with the big Shantae push that Wayforward has been making lately with the release of Seven Sirens and all of the Shantae library coming to the Switch. Marketing wise, it would've benefited both Nintendo/Wayforward for Shantae to be the ninth pass if she's indeed in this lineup.

It's more just that nintendo might want to end on a character that everyone knows, a big hitter. But yeah considering Byleth and other stuff, it's possible they wouldn't care. We'll see what happens within the next year :p

I could picture her at any point except any potential Game Awards reveal.

Other than that, I guess if Smash's development team would have problems with making a 3D model by themselves. Probably around the time or after Totaku unveils that figurine they originally had planned for 2020. I wouldn't put stock into anything tho.

I don't think "ending with a bang" ever mattered in the first place. It's more about the journey itself, rather than the destination, but that concept is lost on the West, I feel.

I just wonder if we'll eventually get a new super-obscure retro fighter by the end of this. :chrono:

Sephiroth may have a own gauge like Cloud and Joker's meter.

How his spells perform depend on charge like Hero's non-holdable spells like zap and woosh.

Playstyle is like his intimidating boss fight with extremely long range, but has openings with work arounds. Players needs to have knowledge to defeat this super boss with his extreme long range and magic. (Which is unlimited. Canon info.)
He's probably using a flashier version of the EX mechanic from Dissidia.

After building this gauge, Sephiroth grows a wing, hovers, receives all around damage buffs, gains the ability to cast Heartless Angel, and expends the gauge in a finisher with Supernova.

For those of you unfamiliar, it works a lot like Pokken's EX concept.

It also looks like when his wing comes out, that his Shadow Flare move might be replaced with Mega Flare. And maybe Octoslash gets a buff in comparison to when his wing isn't out. God I can't wait to watch Sephiroth's presentation tomorrow! I wanna see more of the Northern Crater and what songs, spirits and Mii costumes he'll come with!

Anyone else think we might see the final returning Bamco costume? It doesn't look like Bamco are in a hurry for including much of their characters as fighters.
No, because Square Enix costumes only came with Square Enix characters. It's been consistent between Smash 4 and Ultimate. Lloyd's costume won't show up tomorrow.

I think Lloyd's a possibility.

We have to wait and see. After all, there was more red tape over the Dragon Quest IP than Final Fantasy IP with it's rights being owned by 6 different owners. Hero's pack probably just had Dragon Quest Mii costumes because of how their negotiations went down.

One idle thought I've been having for some time...

What if WF is holding off on posting Smash wishes until they eventually worked out a deal to include Shantae and Risky at the same time? If Shantae's spirit was included alone, that'd be one thing, but Risky has one too.

Granted, this could mean that they'd be waiting until Smash 6 (which is an insane commitment), but it's worth thinking about.

Ok. Next time then.

I love this theory. I could wait until Smash 6 for Shantae especially if they mange to make a deal with Nintendo to get Risky in as well.

Smash 6 is probably going to take far longer to even become a thing due to the fact that Masahiro Sakurai has stated that he needs a break. He really does, to be honest. Not a one or two year break. He needs a lot more. I say that after FP2, we won't be seeing Super Smash Bros. for a long time.

On the other hand, there have been rumours that during talks for Square Enix reps, Geno was never considered, Sora was considered but negotiations broke down, and the only two characters who were seriously considered were Hero and Sephiroth, and this may have taken place as far back as 2017, just a year before Ultimate was announced and eventually released.

Not before Tifa, Barret, and Aerith costumes as FFVII is the spotlight in this presentation.

So, 1 to 2 returning Mii costumes are possible
I don't know about Tifa as a Mii... I'm still gonna predict her as a new Assist Trophy coming with Update 10.0.0
Also, I feel like at least Geno and Chocobo will be revealed tomorrow.

It is possible for Tifa to be an Assist Trophy?

I'd like to get the Lloyd costume back at some point because I made a Mii for him a long time ago thinking his costume was already in the game.
I'm mostly expecting Square Enix related Mii Fighter costumes revealed tomorrow though.

we haven't gotten any DLC assist trophies, so i doubt it will start now. I would love a tifa Mii fighter though. it would be hilarious if she had the PS1 style chest lol
Speaking of mii fighter costumes, I hope Dragonoid (Bakugan) will get a mii costume or spirit, given that a new Bakugan game just came out over a month ago. I've already mentioned that Bakugan was originally planned to be a videogame.

But Final Fantasy got a non-primary non-echo rep before Sonic. So I think another Pokemon clone can get something before Digimon. Travis (No More Heroes) also got a mii costume and No More Heroes will be getting a new game soon, so I think the same can occur with Dragonoid.

To be fair, any amount of fans will be as livid with anyone being picked. Kinda.

I mean, she is one of FF7's main protagonists aside Cloud and she was the most requested FF7 rep besides Sephiroth.

Yeah, I mean even :ultsephiroth: got haters needing to be explained who he is.

Well whatever. Not everyone can be as accepting as me.

Has the Sora thread been informed of this? From what I heard there, they're under the impression that he would be easier to get than one would think.
