I wouldn't mind the low poly. It would actually bring back old fond memories of FF7 with my older brother when we took turns playing it.
Honestly I’d prefer the low poly ones. My biggest gripe with the FFVII Remake isn’t the story, which I’ve just kind of accepted is going to be its own confusing mess but that’s just kind of par for the course for FFVII, or the gameplay which I actually welcomed with open arms as it seemed to fix the issues FFXV had.

My biggest problem is actually the artstyle. I am NOT a big fan of Nomura’s semi-realistic design sense he adopted for Final Fantasy vaguely post-FFIX (technically post VIII because he didn’t work on IX). I dunno, the fact that we have the technology to make his original art basically come to life with models matching it to a T without destroying the console to render them feels like a missed opportunity in the pursuit of making inherently unrealistic things try to look realistic.

You can even see it in Cloud’s renders in Smash - his base costume is how I’d imagine a remake in the original art’s style to be like (just even more polished because stronger system), and then the Advent Children costume rounds out his hair to try and make more sense of it. But it’s a nonsensical hairstyle. It doesn’t have to make sense.

...Sorry if this is off topic for the Shantae thread. I get passionate about the ‘unique artstyle vs realistic graphics’ debate and for some reason Mii costumes brought it out in me.

They’re also fit for DLC spirit board except for Cloud. Maybe that could be his Fighter Spirit even know he already got one. Idk

Those aren't ingame models though. Like really, I would take the new 3d likeness over how it looked like on the ps1 any day.
But you can't get that in a mii costume anyway :p So that's why I'm open to the low poly, but who knows, maybe they made one look really good.

I was maybe gonna put some tifa pics to compare, but it's easy to look up. She looks awesome in hd 3d. Though personally I like her look in Advent Children better than the remake.

Hey so I know this isn’t about Shantae/Smash stuff or it’s off-topic but I want to talk about Among Us on the Switch. I have to give it a bad review because from my first experience as a test, I find it pretty hard to play through because some tasks are bit hard to use and takes bit longer for you to get it done while risking your life while there’s an Impostor among you. Even Simon says. It takes longer than usual because you have to hold on your D-pad depending on which direction you go in correct order. Messed up once, you have to start all over again. You‘re easily opened to get killed for god-knows-how-long-for-you. also the chat takes longer than usual as well because of course Switch message. It gives you like a minute to send message while the others send them already and might think it’s you because you’re being quiet while trying to talk. I’m giving Among Us on Switch, 2.5/5 Impostors.

Yup, censorships has come a long way since the old days of "We're gonna need another Timmy"
Yeah and this episode perfectly shows how easily things can spiral out of reason, for the sake of "protecting the children".
The last few minutes of this episode accurately demonstrate the thought process of everyone that censors:
"Ban everything we don't like."

I do think the biggest problem of FF7R is the story.
Ever since Kingdom Hearts 2, Nomura's stories have become a convoluted, incomprehensible mess.
And it shows again in the Remake.

What's wrong with Nicalis?
Nicalis has a bad reputation for denying the indie games they work with to update their games because 'it's not making enough money' or flat-out even ghosting them. Or at least that's some of the cases I've heard that I know is true. But in general I've heard quite a few stories where Tyrone Rodriguez (the founder) is being rude, racist and being controlling or even exploitative. Edmund McMillen (Creator of The Binding of Isaac) also decided to part ways with Nicalis because of this I believe.

Funny that this is never widely talked about.
And yet mistakes like Cyberpunk 2077's botched release are treated like the biggest crime in humanity.

The Western side of Pop Star.
I don't believe that non-Nintendo IPs with just one game have a chance at Smash.
That's what I keep telling people, and no one believes me! Is it any wonder why Shovel Knight suddenly got a few spin-offs a few years following his AT reveal?

Basically, any third-party IP that can prove to last beyond a single game is viable to be considered for Smash, from what I've seen.

Well to be fair bugs directly affect the player's enjoyment of a game. Some shoddy business decisions and a questionable guy at a company aren't directly noticeable in most of the cases. And some people simply don't care about what goes on behind the scenes, they just like to enjoy their games for what they are.

Shovel Knight will cultivate a legacy. I would prefer him over Shantae for obvious reasons.

That and Daisuke Amaya/Studio Pixel going beyond Sakurai and not making sequels to any of his games, let alone paying attention to Cave Story anymore.
3rd party mini-series reps can still warrant to be playable. Also the number of appearances a character makes doesn't always correlate with their fame or popularity.

Still, people treat CDPR like straight up villains now.
I've seen so many comments about how "They turned to the dark side" and stuff, as if a botched release suddenly makes them worse than EA and kin.
I consider Bugs and Glitches to be a whole different beast from gambling and scamming.
CDPR is guilty of the former, but not of the latter.
And yet somehow, they are considered villains like EA or even worse, even though they did none of the scummy things, that EA and co are known for.
It just doesn't make any sense.

It's like people demand perfection on release.
And if anything goes wrong, you're immediately a villain like EA.
It's so illogical, not to mention brain dead.

I'm expecting at the very least a geno deluxe mii costume. if he doesn't return here, then SE really hates him and didn't want him to return at all

I called it. R.I.P. Geno.

It's weird that they showed off the Miis first instead of later, but regardless, Shantae survived.

My condolences for Geno's fans. Mii costume reveals are kinda like watching a firing squad and hoping your pick isn't in the lineup so it's always stressful for a lot of us. :(

With the info gathered.
Sephiroth is a light weight. Meaning he's a glass canon in exchange on long range and super armor on all smash attacks
One Winged Angel: will appear when he's in danger, but only when certain conditions are met. It's a turn around mechanic and will disappear after a KO from either the opponent or you.
Final Smash will inflict you with a Random Status Effect should you survive to feel the effects.
Counter will only counter against certain attacks, still attack after bring activated, and only guard at the front. Strong attacks will be nullified, but no counterattack.

Man, I feel so bad for all the Geno fans. Can't even get a proper headpiece and have to make do with a goofy Mii face.

And the FF7 costumes are all hindered by not getting hairpieces, so you have to use Mii faces and Mii hair. For me, the Mii costumes are always the least exciting additions, but these ones were even more disappointing than others.

Got to imagine they knew they were going to upset people which is why they put them at the beginning of the presentation this time, rather than making people wait through the whole thing to find out their favorite had gotten Mii'd.

I liked the Tifa costume a lot. looks cute. Aerith was nice too. Really a shame we got nothing from any other FF though. Plus that Geno just got his old one reused, not a delux, and no music either sucks for geno fans. I feel quite bad.

It really goes to show Nintendo and Square doesn't care at all for that game.

Glad Shantae is in the game still, but I'm starting to feel all she will be is a PNG...

Also as I thought that Cloud's Advent Children outfit will get a new Final Smash.
