It won't be Crash. Not only has COVID massively screwed with the timeline laid out for Fighter Pass 2 (which makes the coincidence that Crash 4 comes out the day after the announcement likely unplanned), but travel restrictions would make the meeting of Sakurai and Activision very difficult. I think we're going to get another Japanese character this time around.

Shantae could get in since James Montagna of WayForward if I remember right LIVES in Japan, I swear he does.

Either way, whichever character it is, the trailers are usually a blast to watch.
Quite curious what Sakurai has to say at the end too, I doubt it'll just be about the character alone since they'll probably save that until the 'Sakurai presents' presentation...

Yeah, mechanically this character looks crazy and super interesting, but my fears of it LOOKING janky and out of place are a bit realized. But the multiple skins is a super cute idea.

On the other hand, I take this as a great sign for our genie. Another western character in, and in times like this when it would be more difficult to work with overseas studios? That's all good signs in my book!

It seems premature to say that they're going to stop with a single indie character; that would be like saying that Sonic can't get into Smash because Snake was the first third party character. (also, seeing as Microsoft owns Minecraft, I'm not 100% sure if it qualifies as indie now, even if that's what it started out as)

I'll give Steve this, with my tempered expectations, I wasn't angry at him. Quite surprised, actually. However, seeing all the ill will against Shantae just because of Steve, is honestly more disgusting than anything else. I'll try to keep to my word to hibernate for at least three days, so all this can simmer down to some extent and we can have a more nuanced discussion about Steve and what that means for her.

That being said, stay frosty and watch out for more Grotesque Steve posts, especially around Reddit, Twitter, and KnowYourMeme (not gonna mention 4chan since that's always been a caution space for the last few years). With his inclusion, there's certainly going to be a lot of them for the next month or three, and more likely than not, at least a couple of them will be against Shantae.
