Ah I see. Perhaps try applying for the temp debater group. Iirc they accept anyone; its simply to gain access to the temp debater discussion. That should open up the group identification options

I have 3 people I am trying to get accepted into the MBR. Cactuar has already agreed, but the option to apply has been removed from the group membership page. He asked the admins to do this manually but that was over a week ago. I would like something done ASAP so we can finish creating the new tier list.

Everything like that that requires server access is basically not going to happen, as anything that the SWF team wants has to be done by MLG, who own the site.

I don't like how you can accidentally unsubscribe to groups with a miss-click on phones while on the user CP. There's not even a confirmation popup or anything. It' s a big pain when you don't know what thread you unsubscribed to. :/

If you can fix this by adding a recently unsubscribed list somewhere on the User CP or just make a confirmation stage to the unsubscribe button, that would make everything a lot easier.

Despite people in there being 17 or over, you have to remember that Decisive Games is a public forum that anyone can see. I'd bet that there are at least a few new (and existing) people everyday who visit that board just to see what it is about.


On top of that, I also fear that turning off the censor in DGames would cause the "attacks" in mafia games to go up, since people would go nuts not having a filter, and curse people out left and right.

Point being: it's a public board, and being a public board the censor needs to remain on.

That justification for censors was fine in the late 1990's, but you're holding onto a value that literally (and by literally I mean figuratively, but man that emphasis) makes no sense.

Hell censors are such a small issue and this doesn't matter much. That I can agree with. But the thing is, it's not taken as a small matter. It is over enforced as if mods really have nothing else to do anymore. I don't care much if censors are removed, just remove dodging as being a violation, at the very minimum, within dgames.

Your argument here is:
1) It's a public board
2) Attacks will go up


1. I don't know if you realize what you're saying here. I know it's your job to read the policies and then fight for them as if you logically came to the same conclusion yourself, but entertain this side for a bit. The forum being public should have nothing to do with why censors are used. Life is public. The internet is public. Lack of censor or censor enforcement will not decrease the value of the site or decrease its traffic. Let's list some popular websites for example:

Youtube does not censor
Facebook does not censor
Reddit does not censor

Of course the list goes on and on. The point is that these prosperous websites do not censor, and they are not perceived as anything less than they are. Web traffic does not decrease. You see what I'm saying here? The fact that censor dodging is enforced as if it is pornography (something that actually does affect the value, audience, and traffic of a site) is more than exaggerated.

2. No it wont. A personal attack is a personal attack. You can attack someone without censors and you can attack someone with censors. That's what we have moderators for. Being lax on censor dodging will have no affect on that. There's a difference between cursing and flaming. Simply saying a word does not imply it's use in a hateful manner. Flaming, however, is something can be done with censors present or without censors present. But to say that either are a cause of flaming is an illogical conclusion.

I think that is relevant, however the reasons for lifting the censor I'm DGames is legitimate, while there isn't really a reason to do as such in the MBR.
