I still haven't really heard any reason why we should remove the censor other than everyone in DGames is old enough to handle it.

I'm not counting 'other sites don't have one' since other sites are just that. They have their own policies.

I just have a hard time figuring out why seeing 'what the ****' instead of the uncensored version is something people even care about

Yeah, it's not like this thread has done any good for the community, like automatically making posts a certain color, or fixing all kinds of mobile issues, or hiding notifications that ignored users have posted, or INCREASED AVATAR SIZE.

I do it all the time, and I imagine a lot of other mods do too. There are exceptions for certain rooms, but generally one liner/image only posts are just not up to snuff and will be infracted.

Right because this thread's effectiveness is measured by the result of one suggestion. Asking us to reverse a Global Rule that has been around since the site's inception and expecting us to just roll over and say "oh hey sure" is pretty absurd. We have a lot of suggestions we CAN accommodate, but asking us to go against the direct wishes of the site owners is not one of them.

I don't like how you can accidentally unsubscribe to groups with a miss-click on phones while on the user CP. There's not even a confirmation popup or anything. It' s a big pain when you don't know what thread you unsubscribed to. :/

If you can fix this by adding a recently unsubscribed list somewhere on the User CP or just make a confirmation stage to the unsubscribe button, that would make everything a lot easier.

Did anyone get to this?

And here is my point. 10char dodging is against the rules but doesn't get infracted in DGames for specific DGames reasons.

Find&Replace "10char" with "censor"

The thing is that spam has nothing to do with maintaining a "suitable for everybody" environment. Writing a less than 10char post isn't vulgar or inappropriate, but foul language is. Quality/Quantity of a post can be regulated depending on the forum you're posting in, whereas turning the censor on/off in certain forums contradicts Smashboards' target demographic of "everybody".

Since when are swear words even a bad thing? Honestly, I knew most of the regular swears by the time i was 5 (though i had never dared SAY them).

Seriously, if a parent is letting a kid go on the internet completely unsupervised there are much worse things they will find than swear words (like 4chan)

Meh, I can see why they don't want this site to have swearing enabled globally. I mean, parents who do supervise their kids or at least check up on their kids when they brows the internet would see this site. And some parents are protective enough that if they saw a page filled with profanities they'd stop letting their child visit this site.

I know schools sometimes block sites that swear, and so those smashers who don't have computers at home can't even stay after school to check up here.

To clarify, is this an argument about getting the censor removed entirely or about getting the censor removed just in dGames?


Honestly if the argument is "just in dGames" then it shouldn't even be an argument because there's nothing special about dGames that should warrant the lifting of the censor (nor has any argument supporting that dGames should have this special treatment been brought forth as far as I've seen)

The "remove the censor entirely" is a perfectly reasonable suggestion and it's one that's been brought up time and again, but as of this moment MLG's stance on the issue is that they still want the censor to stay. Posting here and contacting AlphaZealot are the two best ways to show MLG that there is support of dropping the censor, so contacting AZ to get in touch with MLG should be your guys' next goal. There's a good chance the staff has tried contacting MLG about this before but it's likely that MLG needs to see that the members of the community feel strongly about this before they'll consider changing it.

First, I dont think censor dodges should be blocked by the censor. fck shouldn't be censored. This isn't a word, and holds no meaning unless meaning is placed on it. If, for example, a child who didn't know the "f word" were to read someone use fck they would not learn it. This type of censor dodge should be enforced by the moderators (at their discretion) and not by an automatic filter (there are plenty of times when the 3 characters F C and K can be put in order without being a censor dodge)

As for what words actually are on the list, my rule of thumb is basically whatever can be said on TV should be OK. F-word, S-word, and others of that magnitude should be on the list for sure.

Nothing too headache inducing, but I figure I'd mention it and see what y'all think.

I don't think I've ever seen that word used on here to indicate a female dog.

if you upgrade your editor to WYSIWYG then it does as you want. i assume if you have internet, your computer can handle the wysiwyg

Use CP, options or something, ctrl+f for editor then change the option to WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). It's basically a live post were all potions show up before you post. Like constantly clicking show preview. No tags. Microsoft-Word-ish.



There's also a button in the top right of the wysiwyg box with a blue A that allows you to toggle between the wysiwyg and the basic if you temporarily need to see/use tags.
