I can implement the box if people really want it. Which skins should I set it up for?

Does everyone want the box? I could've sworn one of the reasons people wanted Revolution, or went to Smash/Classic Blue, was to avoid the box since they're not interested in any of the content in it.

Well if nothing else, having it optional would make everyone happy. I wasnt a big fan of it to begin with, but after using that skin for a while, it grew on me

"Having it optional".

Okay, that will maybe take a little longer for me to figure out.

Shuffle Time!
New Additions to Smashboards

The "What's New" box is now available on all skins.

You can also disable its visibility through this option.

You are now able to hide postbit clutter.

Why? I like those too. Gives a really quick reference to rulesets and standard guides. Plus its only on the forum main page

If you want the single-page sidebar, just use Vibrant. Seriously.

Custom fonts are very unnecessary. The reason the selection is limited for forums is so there can be differences but not enough such that you can't jump from one post to another without needing to readjust.

I'd just like to thank you guys for the implementation of 125x125 avatars.

And subscribing to those threads doesn't notify you of new content?

I mean like the BBR releases an updated tier list. It would go in that box on the main site, but i would only know about it if i went into the brawl forums and looked around.

edit- this is similar to the tournaments box. It advertises tournaments people otherwise might not have seen. Saying "well just subscribe to them" is not the answer

I find it silly that you somehow find it significant enough to waste such a large amount of space for what amounts to a couple clicks and checking the current stickied topics in respective forums. Are you saying that if you felt like checking, you might not know where to find the tier list, or the official rules, without the help of that sidebar? If so, I highly recommend staying with Vibrant.

... How can you be so ignorant? If i were to follow the same logic then the whole top bar should be gone because players obviously should know how to go to the tournaments subforum and just look. I mean all of the advertised threads are even in the same forum on the same page. So redundant.

I find new releases from the BBR/MBR/64BR to be very insightful and some of the most influential threads on this site. I would rather the "featured topics" be changed from random user stuff into actual back room content.

...Well, shouldn't they? I mean, I added the top bar because admittedly livestreams don't get a lot of attention and a couple people actually wanted it and it happens to be on every page. And even then, I was only really willing to add it in when considering an option to turn it off. Where's the sidebar? Oh, yeah, index.php. How much space does it take? No fewer than 250 pixels. This sacrifices compatibility and doesn't offer much unique functionality. In addition, you're the only person actually asking for it, and there are a number of people against adding it. So, no, I don't do special requests for a single person unless that single person is me. Tough luck.

That's something I'm not touching because the what's new box is linked across skins by the same stuff. I'm pretty sure the Feature Topics would happen to feature the new Smash BR releases when they get released, anyway.

So when do we get the option to hide specific postbits?
There's this useful function known as the Ignore list.

I wrote them in as Award Icons. Note that you still can't disable online status, the report icon, or moderator-specific icons that you probably don't see anyway.

I merely mentioned it. Including me, the opinion on this page was actually 2-2 so, no, i'm not the only one. I am fine with it not being there; the only reason I kept arguing was because you either seemed to not understand what I was talking about or were making really bad arguments.

Well, okay, if "bad arguments" are what keeps you asking for something, I'll be sure to just respond to ideas I don't like with a "no" next time. It will hopefully simplify things.

I don't get it, what's the problem with adding the feature. I mean it's not going to hurt anybody looking at the site, and having an option to turn the feature off would be good. Adding in lines of code to make it appear on other skins can't honestly take that long or demand that much from someone. I'm pretty sure there's more than just one person on this website that wants that feature as well, considering we have thousands of them that are bound to want them as well

The sidebar will definitely take more effort than a few lines of code, since it involves modifying the main index page template to accomodate such a behemoth. For skins like Revolution that use a fixed width by default, it takes up over a quarter of the horizontal space accomodated. It would also be considerably more difficult to "turn off".

As for hiding specific postbit icons.... why?
