In fact, I'm gonna get Inui's AIM name.

I think it's worthwhile to have Winner's Finals and Loser's finals as best of 5. OR AT THE LEAST, Loser's final.

I'm happy to be some sort of "Tournament Judge".

Awesomeness.
We can be the deadly TO duo.

I'm gonna enforce the Mage's Rule pretty heavily too.
If you're more than 6 minutes late, you're forfeited.

Vyse change the tourney name to 'The SQUAT Strikes Back"

I think having a sausage sizzle / encouraging people to bring/buy lunch before the tourney will save a lot of time....We always lose 2-ish hours for lunch

Crew battles should be fine

Yeah well basically my mother and one of her friends want to be in charge of food, so I'm gonna assume that works out. Otherwise Billy will just have to man it up a little in the food department.

Basically no lunch breaks, everybody should bring their own lunch/buy our food.

I agree, crews should be fine. Depends on how many we want to do as well, since Out of State might want to take a crack at us again, but I'd also like to see GC Vs. Bris because it'll encourage the new players that will attend to really get involved.

Just did some quick math using Microsoft Excel:

Brawl Singles

Players = 70
TVs = 15
Matches to be played = 2(Players) - 1 = 139
Average Set Time (Minutes) = 20

Estimated Event Time Required: = (139 * 20)/15 = 185.333 = A little over 3 hours using 15 TV's

Now lets add 5 more TV's to the equation

Estimated Event Time Required: = (139 * 20)/20 = 139 = 2 Hours and 19 Minutes.

Man, we NEED to get TV's to this.
All of you!
Bring every single last one.

EDIT:
@Shaya: I'll get my mum to make a salad.

Vyse, that's bad mathematics.

You have to realise that the efficiency can never get better if
tvs > players / 2.

And efficiency differs slightly if tvs were between players / 2 and players / 3 in early rounds, but is more important in later rounds.

Also as all matches are not always available, you can't go purely be division by 15. It's a double elimination bracket.

Players = 70
TVs = 15
Set time = 20

Double Elimination
First Round = (players / 2) / TVs.
That's 2 and 1/3rds.
You can't just multiply that by 20, you have to ceiling the number.
2.333' becomes 3.
Times that by 20 and you have a good estimate, which is 60 minutes.
This is because not all matches can be played concurrently in the first round; this easily shows that doing it over all rounds doesn't work either.

Second round (time) = LB (First round / 2) + WB (First round / 2)
So the second round will have similar amount of time constraints; as 35 sets need to be played.

Third round = LB ( 18 ) + WB (9) = 27.
This means this round will have less than 2 things going on; making it about 40 minutes.

ETC ETC.

Even though there is an ability to play two rounds or more rounds concurrently, there's still a natural limit.

Also, salad is poison. Buy veggie sausages :D

I'm thinking that it's extremely possible to turn this into a 2 day event at the cost of venue space. I'll elaborate later.

you want us to buy Notdogs shaya? gawd ****in vegetarians
**** straight.

Shaya, don't you realise that this would actually require people to buy TWO varieties of food at the shop instead of one?! They would have to PHYSICALLY PICK UP a second item, effectively DOUBLING the amount of energy used in the process.

People could be FALLING OVER or COLLAPSING everywhere, simply because you are some sort of crazed DEMONIC FREAK who is clearly out for REVENGE against us normal people.

I knew you were vindictive, but asking people to buy two kinds of food is just ridiculous. You are a danger to this community and must be stopped.

How dare you. Not eating meat, and forcing social exclusion upon people by asking them to purchase vego freak food is ****ing un-Australian.

In other news this tournament looks great. A fair few nsw people should definitely be able to make it!

My sister is a vegetarian so we have a lot of vegie sausages... etc...

What I don't get is why they all taste like meat??

If you want to eat meat just do it...don't try and imitate it with flavourings and ****e

If I was vegetarian I would want my vegetarian sausages to taste like ****ing vegetables

Okay so I think my previous calculations were wrong, and Shaya, yeah you're right.
I remember working out my calculations for QBB in a similar way, but I forgot how.

Under this model, there would be 95 matches in a 64 Man tournament:
Code:
Round	Matches
1	32
2	16	+	16	=	32
3	8	+	16	=	24
4	4	+	8	=	12
5	2	+	8	=	10
6	1	+	4	=	5
7	1	+	4	=	5
8	0	+	2	=	2
9	0	+	2	=	2
10	0	+	1	=	1
11	0	+	1	=	1
12	1	+	0	=	1

				Sum ->	95
This following table models the progression of each round, assuming 21 minutes for each round of matches to complete. This assumption is based on both the longest possible time for three matches of Brawl to take place and that people are going to take time getting to their match, counter-picking, stage striking, etc.

Code:
Assuming 16 TV's				Minutes
32	=	16	+	16	=	42
32	=	16	+	16	=	42
24	=	16	+	8	=	42
12	=	12	+	0	=	21
10	=	10	+	0	=	21
5	=	5	+	0	=	21
5	=	5	+	0	=	21
2	=	2	+	0	=	21
2	=	2	+	0	=	21
1	=	1	+	0	=	21
1	=	1	+	0	=	21
1	=	1	+	0	=	21

					Sum ->	315
315 Minutes equates to 5 hours and 15 minutes to finish Brawl singles if we were expecting 64 players and 16 setups assuming the maximum amount of time to complete sets and assuming finals sets are best of 3, best of five matches would add 15 minutes for each set they are implemented in.

Oh well. I guess he's just.. Different
5 hours? I don't think so tim

i think we got through both doubles and singles at QBB in just over 6 with a morning full of friendlys

also your equation doesn't include getting ***** in sets like totally owned like most of the first second and some times the third rounds

so if it takes 5 hours to do brawl singles I will punch the TO's in the groin

If you re-read what I said, this is the maximum amount of time it could take, assuming that every match was a set of three played out til timeout.

I will do everything I can in my power to ensure that it won't run that long, but it also assumes the full co-operation of participants.

By assuming it's going to take 5 hours, I can over-estimate schedules and allow time for crew battles towards the end.

EDIT:
Also, it assumes a certain number of TVs.
I am going to stress this on every page, but, we NEED TV's.
In addition to the Poll, I'm going to keep an equipment inventory.
More TV's = More efficiency in getting through tournaments
A full setup will net you a discount on entry, so make sure you bring one!

Ahhh.

Date is a bit soon for my liking but hey, I'll probably come along still. :p
Food at lunch will be a life-saver wee lost SO much critical time from that last time.
Over 2 days would be super as well.
But we CAN fit it into 1.

I need to get a truck to transport TVs.
Would be awesome.
NEED Wii's!
Last time we had 18 TVs but only about 12-14 Wii's if I remember correctly.
ZAC! We need to fly you in for the crew battles.
This will be the crew battle of time.
Potentially.
If we have time, which we will.
More thoughts to come later.

Moose, I would assume you would be in the tournament because you want to be in it <3

I'm agreeing with you that it probably won't take that long to do Brawl singles. Indeed, QBB managed to stay on schedule despite a number of serious delays (I remember hour long delays because of dumb stuff like registration taking way longer than I thought it would and lunch dramas etc.) Assuming nothing goes wrong, and with numbers similar to QBB in terms of TVs and players, we'd most likely finish ahead of schedule.

All I did was point out what I already said :(
Which is to say, **** happens. And it'll be like dirty shizar porn all over my face.

EDIT: However, a lot of this may be irrelevant if I manage to secure a smaller venue for 2 days (Or if I get 100 people confirmed, we can still have the larger one, though that's a bit of a stretch)

EDIT: UNLESS I decide to implement pools, which is feasible given the time constraints over a 2 day period.

shaya just eat meat, you've never eaten it before, if you ate a good quaility steak you would cry for a long time about how you've wasted you life blah blah blah,
having to bring your own food and stuff is a good idea, also if you cant eat and play at the same time you dont deserve to win, espically if your name is hotdogs, you should be able to play while eating hotdogs.

That would have been a good gym leader challenge. Whilst playing against hotdog you both need to be eating hotdogs. If you have to stop, you lose.

Alternate rules: you automatically win the hotdog badge if you come to a tournament dressed as a hotdog.

Email to Venue said:
Hello, I am just making an inquiry as to whether I could make a booking for one of the halls later this year.

My name is Anthony Smith, and you may recall that I've previously made a booking with you with 'Queensland Brawl Buddies' last year (A video gaming event), which was hugely successful thanks to the great venue here.

It is my intention to run the event again with one of the halls, however I am considering making a two day booking for the event. I understand that North Hall seats roughly 100 people, whilst the south hall seats 200. If I am to book only one day, it would be the 21st of November (A Saturday) this year, however a two day booking would be for the 21st and 22nd of November (Saturday and Sunday). These bookings would also preferably be for the maximum amount of hours they are available each day.

With that in mind, I just have a couple of questions.

1. Do you have the dimensions for North Hall and South Hall?
2. What is there availability on these days?
3. What would hiring North Hall for 2 days cost me?
4. What would hiring South Hall for 1 day cost me?

I expect to be able to attract enough people to break the 70 person mark again, and I'd like for the schedule to be so big that we need two days for it. Depending on the availability I would like to book the North Hall for both days, but if that's not possible, I'm willing to move the date a little, or settle for South Hall and one day.

Thank you for your time
Anthony Smith

I must regretfully announce that the date has been pushed back 1 weekend to the 28th due to there being a wedding scheduled at the wedding. venue rather.

I'm not sure where that puts you Zero :(
