If you have been keeping up with CoT4 you will know that NEO(the "best" marth in the world) was 2-0e by 2 texas metaknights(dojo/infinity)....THATS AMAZING! Well royr has played them about 2 or 3 times and beat them(infinity) or went even with them(dojo). How does this tie in with samus? This means royr is THE best marth in the USA or hes tied for the best marth in USA and in any case, i played him yesterday.........im here to say this match-up is VERY VERY hard.

You can critique all you want but the funny thing is, samus CAN NOT beat a marth at high level. No matter how good both players are, samus has a MASSIVE disadvantage in this match-up. oh and maybe you can use these vids for the match-up with marth when ryota or dryn covers it.

Thanks Xyro, I was looking forward to these. BardulL ***** me so I completely understand what you're saying about the Marth matchup.

EDIT: xyro, this is the style i've always wanted to play, as far as what moves are best to use. uair, dsmash, nair, jab cancel to dtilt, pivot grabs, and zairs to punish/follow up, not to spam.

Didn't help much? The very first match you straight up mindgamed him, running right past and pivot grabbed him. It was still pretty sick XD

I have a pheobia aginst Marths regardless, Which is why I can actively pick anyone but Yoshi and use them Fairly nicely. I pick up Falco for this matchup, just because of the fact I know he will do better then my Samus would, regardless of how good I think I am, or how much he sucks.

I just, dont like fighting Marths for some reason?

this is what I was thinking, you did it very successfully once, then you never did it again, instead you kept running past then stopping and charging Fsmash towards him which he shielded through EVERY TIME.
Grab > Shield > Fsmash ?>? Grab

royr changes in every fight. he adapts on the fly, i didnt feel safe doing reverse grabs cause bad things happen if i F-up. aka luigi mansion match!!!! i just feel like(even in melee) no matter what i do royr will win. in these friendlies he wasnt even going at full power.

Where is this Genesis located?

Also, I heard from Irow that you have wasted time in the matches you have played. I don't think these were intentional, but I thought it was funny to hear about them. We both need to learn close-combat with Samus. I'm called a "camper" by some. If you're running out of time, then something tells me you like to fight from a distance. I'm also reminded of that PTIRL person.

lol genesis is in antioch, its in the east part of the san francisco bay area :)
i've never intentionally wasted time in a match lol the reason he thinks that is because a lot of times i will play long distance or on the edge if samus has a bad disadvantage close range or if i'm at a point where i am in ko range and he isn't ^^ and personally, against snake i have to more than usual since his moves are able to inflict so much damage and he is vulnerable off level! a lot of other characters like g&w and ddd too i'll try to play from a distance. bleck i hate long fights ^^ but what really can you do in that situation?

edit: take that back, i was thinking of erow :p i still haven't intentionally wasted time though @.@

I'll critique. I felt you were going for too many dairs when royr was prepared for them. He'd just aerial through it. When he stayed in his shield you'd walk away then fsmash and he'd punish. I know you were trying to catch him off guard and maybe make him release his shield but it happened on several occasions.

When I know someone is going to stay in their shield I like to use smash missile / pivot smash missile. Especially when they have their back to you. It does significant shield damage, since it moves slowly at first it is difficult to spot dodge (hitbox lingers in their area for a while). They can roll or try to bair you I suppose if you are close enough but it's just another option.

You could have used your grapple to refresh your invulnerability to get some edge hogs.

Other than that your spacing is good, you had good reads on him; I thought you were playing really well. Marth is just a ***** to fight.

I know high level marth's can be difficult but there are a lot of way to beat them I do not know if you were playing online or not in those matches but I have most my marth experience online.Anyways I've played marth both in online and offline in tourny and won like against OmegaXF so please do not say samus cannot do anything. Samus being not great of a character to begin with is the problem not marth vs samus match up.You played well Xyro but I will try to see the difference in our fighting styles to see why I do better vs marth than you do seemingly anyways. I could easily be wrong and that marth is way better than any marth I have played. Now a match up that Samus has a horrid chance of winning if the players are the same skill lvl is olimar without a doubt. But for the most part a lot of what Rohins says helps a lot vs marth.

It's all in your head. Maybe you should try not to worry about who you're fighting, but how they fight and how you adapt to it. It's trial and error, keep trying and maybe you'll succeed despite the odds.

i dont think you understand..............its brawl

I think you should try to practice the match-ups you have a difficult time with. When I was brawling with a friend who mains Snake, I was aware of two things that I found uncomfortable for me. 1. Being in the air is not fun, especially against Snake. 2. Being off the stage or being forced to hang on the edge is not a good place to be. What you want to do is be on the stage, but you have to take advantage. Snake can camp, but so can Samus. And it's not really about staying on one side of the stage while Snake does the same thing. His grounded attacks are killer, but his aerials aren't as superior as Samus' in regard to speed.

You can bombard Snake with so much projectiles and z-air. For him to get past this, he has to come to you, and his Hand Grenades aren't too much of a problem. He might throw them at you to distract you, or he might Snakedash toward you, but really, it's about the close-combat that Snake has more of an advantage. You want to get into the match at times, and then at other times move back to get some space. I think I need to learn how to fight close up, because I can do very well when I am at a distance, and because I'm not as strong close up. If you and I practice to get close up when it's necessary, we'll do a whole lot better.

i dont think you understand.....its royr
I brawled with NEOredroy online. I'm sure he'd whoop me offline. He's so into edge-hogging, and that's really how he gets his wins in. I found myself helpless. It was only on Halberd that I beat him with Samus, but that wasn't because of my doing. He attempted to use his Dolphin Slash, and he didn't make it back up. I think I got him angry for telling him straight up that he was boring, because all he did was edge-hog, even when it was unnecessary. Now I just hope I can brawl with him again, because I didn't know he was the Neo.

Oh well, guess I can't really help since I'm not really competitive. But what Rohins said was true, if you go back and watch the videos I noticed what he was saying. Good luck, I guess.
yea yall are right its just i feel that those kinds of things would get me punished and stuff. royr adapts so well and the matchup is in his favor so its really hard to do well

so instead of doing what worked once (pivot grab) you do what worked 0 times (charge Fsmash)? You didn't even force him to adapt, you just figured he would so you gave up on something that worked 1/1 times.
btw, I'm bad at brawl, this is just what I think from watching the video.
