in my experiences that doesnt work at all, in a tourny i 2 stocked (him suiciding counts) dmbrandon's mk on FD then he 2 stocked me on rainbow cruise, ive only beaten an mk once on rainbow cruise><
I believe it. I'm still in the process of experimenting with counterpicks, but I think in the end I'll probably be better off sticking with neutral stages.

I love SkyWorld vs MK. Sadly, it's getting banned more and more. Electroplankton is a great stage VS MK as well. I wouldn't take the MK to Skyworld if they're really good at teching or really really good at gliding. Usually I can laser them out of the glide, but some people can glide to avoid my lasers. It's ridiculous.

ugh if only the tournaments Ive seen have had that broad of a cp menu lol. Usually cps are limited to Frigate, ps1, delfino, castle siege, halberd, and brinstar :[

Sidenote: it took me forever to fall in love with Frigate. I just didn't get why people liked it, not realizing how much ROB's recovery helps him on that stage.

chckn, Frigate is great out of those. PS1 is nice for ROB too, I think. Bad ledges make ROB happy. I feel really bad for you. Not having many CPs sucks bad. I'm thinking SkyWorld is gonna be banned after this last tourney though. It was my CP the whole time(I didn't dedicate to it, it just happened that way, lol) and I had a few people *****ing about it. While they were *****ing, I was constantly agreeing that it was really gay..lol. But yeah, I won't be too upset if it is banned. I'll still have Electroplankton, Frigate, and Mansion.

No mansion??? What kinda nooby state do you live in? Oh wait...

But seriously, how can mansion not be a legal counterpick at any tournament?

I need to practice on Electroplankton.

I had no idea there were so many close minded "competitive" noobs ;____;
lol yeah i get flammed for suggesting japes/mansion/pictochat as cps, ugh i guess different regions different mindsets. and the ****ty part is that until sbr puts out some sort of organized cp/banned list tournament hosts can really do just about whatever the hell they want -_-

Md/Va should go to FL and take all of their money.. and then rent a venue the next day and run a tourney the correct way.
lolol Im actually hosting one at my house on the 13th for that exact reason. Nothing huge 25 to 30 people or so, but yeah you guys should all come down, that would be rediculous

fly above the stage and drop down or fly underneath the edge and sweetspot it
not much of a problem with getting to the ledge, I usually drop low and then sweetspot from under. Problem is when Im already on the edge and he's waiting there to fsmash or fair. If I hit r I get punished by a fsmash or grab. If I try to jump up I get hit with swarmed with fairs, If I try to come up and fair I sometimes get hit with a fsmash or shieldgrabbed

Actually I find you can take them completely by surprise if you make a beeline for the edge, but right before you grab, throw out a fair and keep the booster going so you rise above the edge. You'll fly right through them, and their only option really is shield at that point. Follow it up with a bair for extra protection. Now you're well on the stage and they're by the edge. Of course don't get predictable with this.

You can also simply hold down on the control stick while holding B to rise, and you'll not auto-snap.

Overswarm, can joo discuss Marf tactics nao pliss? PLISS?

Nah really, my legit question was ***** thoroughly by the silly posts so I felt the need to ask again. It's scary spacing against Marth, cause the range of a nicely spaced ftilt is tooooo close to the spacing for Marth's f-smash.

I like this. I'm gonna try this. Chozen, your FAir > FAir > laser idea gets ***** by shields.

Mookie, yes the range is similar, just remember your FTilt is faster than his FSmash.

yikes Chozen...what has playing Fox done to you? :(

Mookie: you can bait them [since good Marths will know the same thing about that spacing issue] by ftilting, and then dashdance into a dash attack while they wiff the fsmash. Marths won't mind using the tipper early on and then reduce the decay as they rack up damage for the kill, so you can try this at the beginning of the match when they're low % too...and you know what that means:
dash attack, utilt, uair ^_^ the classic. EDIT: when they're at higher percents, this can lead to dash attack-usmash, or dash attack..follow airdodge, bair (but first know if they like to airdodge or try to outprioritize you...you could just be jumping into a nair ;___;)

random note: standing by a spinning gyro isn't always your best protection. one time, I did that, the Marth fsmashed...I spot dodged...and the sword stopped for a second on the gyro, and then the gyro flew, my spot dodge was over, the sword continued to move, I got tipped.

gg.

/facepalm.. you don't Fair thier shield... you Fair to snap out of the booster.. and force them away w/ projectiles...

HoverCancelingWTFOMGBBQSAUCE1337zorz?
If you're not aiming for them, then they can just FAir you. That's the whole point, there's not **** you can do if they just stand at the limit of their range while you're on the ledge.

go to www.youtube.com/overswarm

watch my most recent videos of me vs. bloodhawk, the last two. I use the ledge effectively... one of the big things is I shoot a gyro onto the ledge in such a way that it doesn't go very far. This gives me enough space to get back on the stage if I choose to. If Marth is spacing himself, he can't stop you from doing this. If he is, nair him.

Yeah, OS answered with "default settings with rumble on" and no one else responded because that's basically the best idea for any character.

Default settings with Tap Jump off. *cough hack*

And to repeat in words what OS half demonstrated, shoot crap at Marth is he's spacing themselves ledgeguarding. In fact, shoot crap at everyone else too. Force them to either move back and allow you up or hug the edge and allow you past. ;/

OS, I'm having Olimar problems. I know you think it's an easy matchup for ROB, and I looked on the Olimar boards and they seem to feel the same way. I just need to know what I'm missing here. The Olimar player I've been playing (the only one in MD really) doesn't place any higher in tourneys than I do, and I can trash all his secondaries, so it's not a skill gap. I just feel like no matter what I do, Oli has an answer for it.

Yes he's easy enough to gimp when I can get him off the edge, but if I try to camp him he just powershields everything and tosses pikmin over my gyro. But it's when I get close that the trouble really begins for me. It just seems to be ridiculously hard to approach Olimar when he's on the ground, and I know toasty agrees with me here.

If I approach with fairs, he shieldgrabs me before I can dsmash, or if I try to go over him, I always end up eating an usmash. If I approach with ftilts, I get shieldgrabbed or fsmashed. If I do get a dsmash off near him, he shields the whole thing (Oli must have a great shield because it never shieldpokes him) and grabs me. His grab is so **** fast and good. Even if I spotdodge one (which is really hard for some reason) he can usually fire another one out before I can take advantage. How the hell do you punish a shielding Olimar?

I've tried camping him but he just sits at medium range and full jumps throwing pikmin, which go over all my projectiles and latch me. They're easy enough for ROB to shake off but I always end up taking more damage than him when I try to camp.

toasty told me you can still attack while Oli's grab is dragging you back. What's the best way to take advantage of that? Dsmash wasn't working for me.
