OS, I'm having Olimar problems. I know you think it's an easy matchup for ROB, and I looked on the Olimar boards and they seem to feel the same way. I just need to know what I'm missing here. The Olimar player I've been playing (the only one in MD really) doesn't place any higher in tourneys than I do, and I can trash all his secondaries, so it's not a skill gap. I just feel like no matter what I do, Oli has an answer for it.
Yes he's easy enough to gimp when I can get him off the edge, but if I try to camp him he just powershields everything and tosses pikmin over my gyro. But it's when I get close that the trouble really begins for me. It just seems to be ridiculously hard to approach Olimar when he's on the ground, and I know toasty agrees with me here.
If I approach with fairs, he shieldgrabs me before I can dsmash, or if I try to go over him, I always end up eating an usmash. If I approach with ftilts, I get shieldgrabbed or fsmashed. If I do get a dsmash off near him, he shields the whole thing (Oli must have a great shield because it never shieldpokes him) and grabs me. His grab is so **** fast and good. Even if I spotdodge one (which is really hard for some reason) he can usually fire another one out before I can take advantage. How the hell do you punish a shielding Olimar?
I've tried camping him but he just sits at medium range and full jumps throwing pikmin, which go over all my projectiles and latch me. They're easy enough for ROB to shake off but I always end up taking more damage than him when I try to camp.
toasty told me you can still attack while Oli's grab is dragging you back. What's the best way to take advantage of that? Dsmash wasn't working for me.
