I actually like FSM because of how different it was then a normal comedy. The characters weren't very cliche. And even the ones that kind of were, broke away from the normal mold. The sex crazed rock star character is normally pretty dense, but when they were all eating dinner, he could hold an intelligent thought out conversation.

seems to me humour is partly subjective and partly objective. the proportions are what we should be interested in.

comedy is basically mismatching things. think of any joke or anything funny you know. it will probably come down to something happening in a way it normally wouldn't, or two things being compared that are totally different.
