It would depend on how many people would be entering B+ though, wouldnt it?
Definitely, and I'm not sure if it's going to be most or all of the Melee entrants or only a small amount. I'm hoping for larger, for three reasons: first, I'm building decent hype; second, it's a game very close to Melee, so people should be comfortable entering both; third, I'll have a large break in between the games for people to practice and learn B+, and chances are that they'll be interested then if they weren't already.

However, even with maybe 20 people (if I'm very lucky), B+ pools would be, assuming 4 setups (will be faster with 5 setups):

4 pools of 5 players
Each player plays 4 pools matches
16 matches per pool
Best of 1
4 stock match could take about 3 minutes
~45 minutes for pools

I think this is well worth it, considering the pools could probably start at 5 or 6 on a good schedule. If Melee starts late because of people showing up late, I can always set up B+ practice at the very start before we do Melee and then use less time in the break for it.

On a side note about hype, I'm going to Gamefrog and a Play N' Trade this weekend where I'm going to try to advertise this a bit. My goal is to get it larger than ASU (25 Melee, 31 Brawl).

Playing Melee
Yeah, for people who haven't played B+ much I've certainly seen combos continue for a long time with floorbounces, but as players realize they need to focus on teching it gets a bit better. A code could be good, but I'm not sure if that's necessary modification. Harder teching and DI could simply be a facet of B+ against Melee, much more like 64 in terms of combo dependency and 0-deaths. Maybe it could move up to 5-stock? I can imagine two good players finishing 3 or 4 stock in a minute or two.

The thing I'd like to see next is edge cancelling, and then my personal preference would be to hugely buff Rest back to Melee power, but then again it was overpowered in that game to begin with. It's just so satisfying.
well a slightly forgiving tech window would really help the game along. Idk how much you have played but when I go back to melee the teching feels so much better. But the problem with the teching is the teching timing is misleading. You press it as if it was 64 and you don't tech. 64 did a good job with teching in this regard and brawl did not. Plus, a side effect to a better teching mechanic is that laser/jab/icicle locks will become techable now so it kills two birds with one stone.

You mean ledge canceled attacks? Idk how hard that would be since its giving the ledges a face lift..

Yeah, I do think that better teching would be an improvement, certainly if it helps the infinite locks.

Yes, by edge canceling I meant "ledge canceling," I suppose, I think the terms are synonymous. I mean using an aerial near the edge of a platform or stage with momentum and that momentum pushing you over the edge of the platform even if you're still in the landing lag from the aerial (unlike the stop that happens in Brawl right now).

I can probably convince Spoon to set up his Wii with Brawl+
or give me an SD card so I can do it.

I can bring Melee and a TV either way

I've been playing Brawl+ all day. This IS fun.

ZSS is my main <3 and Wario is my secondary. They're both too good.

the b+ I played in didn't have wavedashing, but I did some amazing combos vs cory with yoshi. He's so good at sticking on people and that's really important in b+, it seems

we used foxy's codeset, which also didn't have wavedashing

i played with wavedashing at the last billfest anyway on phoots wii, it wasn't very fluid. I love the normal airdodge a lot more.

can the two ic's still up b? If not this is prly pretty doable
Nope, lulz, so it's not too good. They can't recover at all, gravity owns side-b.

Foxy, do you have a text file for your code list as well? In case I ever want to edit it

Foxy! I'm getting the sd ready. Your codeset doesnt have melee air dodge?
Nope, no melee air dodge. It's pretty pointless,

But Foxy, there's a small problem with your codeset.

When you pick an independant pokemon, after that pokemon dies, it still switches to the next one like normal. And since my friend mains squirtle...its not very fun having to wait -_-

Which is also a reason I'd love to have a text file of your codeset, so I can edit it just a bit.
Yes, I definitely noticed that when I was playing today. As you can see in the text file, I have the independent pokemon engine, not sure why it still switches.

So Stingers, I assume you're bringing your Wii with Brawl+?

When is HERB? March 21st? That's the day my girlfriend gets back from New Zealand, I think. I'm likely gonna be picking her up from the airport. I'll see what timing looks like, but I can't make any promises one way or the other at this point.

Edit: I have some concerns though, Foxy. Can you tell us which codes you actually have on there? You've got like 270 lines posted, so something's amiss, and if somehow it all worked, then something's not loading up right. Your values look good, but when I played the GCT I downloaded something was definitely amiss. Your hitstun was way off, and honestly I must say I didn't care for the CSS. Giga & Co really have no business being in, the alloys are useless anyhow, and it's annoying to try to decipher the character placement unless you've memorized the tier list (Melee players like us probably haven't :p).

Foxy, 3 questions:

1. I thought this code thing would be simple, but I just looked at your text file and...x_x. What do I need to change to make the Pokemon independent?
2. Where are the music hacks man?! We were so disappointed when we had to listen to the normal music
3. Does that codeset freeze Castle Siege? That stage was fine how it was :/

It's because you're using the wrong values for the PKMN. They're 5C, 5D, and 5E for the independent ones.
Ah, I remember now: I had the independent code and the 5C, 5D, and 5E, but then I needed to drop some code to make it fit (the current .gct has 255 out of 256 lines used), so I stopped using the independent code (although it still lists in the text, it isn't in the .gct) and changed the values back to 1C, 1D, and 1E.

1. See what I said to Yeroc above for your answer... basically, unless you totally scrap the custom CSS (and you need ALL the parts to make it work), then you have to deal with not having independent pokemon.
2. I didn't see music hacks when I looked up Brawl+, but probably because they're not related to improving the game. I'll take a look again (or someone can link me), but regardless there isn't enough code space anyways.
3. Yes, it freezes CS. The big issue with CS, although it always seemed pretty neutral and fair to play on, is the second part with walkoffs. The first and third transformations are fine, and now it just consists of the first. It just makes it more legal for a counterpick or maybe even a neutral.

It'll be good when she stops freaking out about **** and thereby causes me to start stressing. I don't get anything done when I've got unnecessary bad stress to deal with cause I can't turn it around into good stress.

I posted my thoughts about the codes above.

Edit again: Also, the whole CSS is still flawed because of the Random on the left side. You'd have to make a new random select code to make that work.

The hitstun was off?

Was it supposed to be more hitstun or less? It was my first time playing Brawl+ but I thought the hitstun was really good. A bit more then Melee, but...it was good.

Edit: If there's not enough room for all the code just scrape off some of the CSS. All you need is ZSS/The 3 pokemon anyway. And Single Nana/Single Popo if you really want to do that Teams thing.

She hasn't left yet. She leaves Saturday. She doesn't get back for 7 weeks. She's pissed off about a bunch of other stuff too though in addition to being harried about her travel arrangements though :(.

Edit: Someone try these out. As near as I can tell it's what Foxy was looking for (the values are the same as the text he posted anyhow) but with my own cosmetics (CSS etc.) all the codes posted should fit.

Yeroc, can you detail the changes between your codeset and Foxy's?

Like, will independent pokemon work? Why are there 3 separate merger codes? Is there anyway to fit Music Hacks in on there? :p

Sorry about all the questions, I'm new at this and trying to learn how to do it on my own :/
