Well I should just say that mind games and experience count towards your skill level more than tech skill, so if you've never been to a major tourney, I would say you should rate yourself above a 5 or 6
Don't you mean below?

I've never been to a major tournament, but the local monthly has many great smashers to play against. Sadly even after 2 years of smash I haven't gotten good enough to be more than a 5-6. If tech skill counted as your skill level, then maybe a 7? :chuckle:

Did I say I've never been to a tournament? I haven't been to any major tournaments like *pound* or VLS, my first will probably be Ohana next summer. Like I said I go to my local tournament every month, players like KDJ, Cort, Dazwa, and Darc regularly up as well as many other skilled players, sometimes Pc Chris has shown up, Eggm came last time (though I didn't play him at all), I've even had a chance to play m2k.

The 7 is only based on tech skill. I consider myself a fairly technical player... basically anything technical (multishining and so on), though obviously not with the proficiency as a player like Silent Wolf.

I can l-cancel, I can wd, I can CC, I can JCG, I can combo... all that **** blaablaa.

But the fact that I have never even played against a person who could l-cancel (or who would be better than me) makes me suck.
And I've never been to a tournament.
(I need to go to a one and get my *** handed over to me) :p

Edit: Oh, and I've played melee since 2004, goddammit!!!

Its not like any of us can prove how good we are unless you send us a video. Even though with the video it doesnt really prove anything

I'm like 6-7 because I have above average tech skill but my mind games are only average. I sometimes set up combos with mind games and everything really well but other times I get totally ***** because I do a totally stupid move(like get shield grabbed easily as ****)

as a formula, my skill level.

S =f(M-I), where M = Mew2King and I = Inui. So if M2k is a 10 and inui is a .01, my skill level is 9.99. Of course, this offers a range of skill levels rather than a single number representation, depending on the performance of both inui and m2k. My full range is somewhere between 9.95 and 10.

If one person rates himself a 6 for beating level 9's then I'm higher.

Of which I doubt.

This is a list of...stuff.

Good...stuff?

I'm really clueless of what to say here.

Dunno, 6? Maybe 6.5? Of course I'm just basing that off of my tourney experience in the Midwest. I actually haven't traveled that much for tourneys cuz of my crappy job. But, yeah, around a 6.

I think the chart should read:
1 - Your first few days playing the game
2 - You can beat all the level 9 comps
3 - You have learned some basic ATs or Mindgames
4 - You have learned some basic ATs and Mindgames
5 - You regularly play with other people
6 - You have been to a few tournaments
7 - You have won a few tournaments
8 - You are top in your state
9 - You are top in your country
10 - You are top in the world

Reasonable? I think so.

Well, if we are going by Coreygames chart, I would say between 4 and 5, like 4.8, haha. I play with other people and at my college atleast two days a week ( when at a house, atleast 6 hours, when at school around 6 also ), but i don't yet feel confident to say I'm REALLY all the way past 4. I'm a masochistic pessimist though, haha

I'm still in disbelief that there was an entire movie made about bad math.

2/3 is not .666 it's .6 with a repetan symbol(a line for not so math savvy people) above the 6.
i know, right?
"pink, that's 42 x 3 - 29 + 2 = 23"

that puts me at 6.
but i see a bit of an issue there...
i know a few people who are consistently able to beat me but they don't meet the "7" requirements (only won small tourneys that nobody's proud of lol), making them 6's like me. there should be a 6.8 or something ha

5 and 6 should be reworded so that 1-4 are also true. You can play with people or go to tourneys with no skill whatsoever. (little nitpick)

7, 8, and 9 are entirely dependent on where you live.

Im probably like a 6-7 at melee. Comps are easy as pie, but the main thing that screws me is im teh suck at wavedashing, I really need to practice it more. I miss melee samus :(

The point of it is to stop having n00bs come in and say, "LOL I'M A <insert a number 6-10>!!1!11one11!!"

Oh, well, no big tournaments.

I am DEFINITELY above 5, since my melee life is pretty much AT's and mindgame studies.

Most likely above 6, but tournaments really isn't specified.

In that case I would be a seven, at which point I would have taken two or three stocks off silent wolf rather than just one, which just didnt happen. Even given the fact that I was rust hell during my stay in cali would make me around a 10.9/2. yea, im that awesome.

No, In all seriousness, 10 isnt enough to rate the skill level of smashers. at my peak I would consider myself an even match for some of better players out there, im not talking mango or m2k, but maybe a few levels lower, at my current state Im like 3 points lower. Its like an MMORPG, and lets say level 100 is the cap. start rateing yourself of of that.
