Yuri Lowell
Chance: 60% - His genre alone nets him a nice 30% of his score, and him being a smaller character (compared to someone like Steve), along with him being by and far the most popular character in the Tales of Series (the the point of being banned from popularity polls). Furthermore, Lloyd's costume is still missing and all but guaranteed to come back, and Yuri presents a perfect opportunity to do so. Vesparia (unlike a lot of competition like Symphonia) has a port on the Switch so tying him into a Switch game (something Lloyd cannot do, and from what I've noticed the Nintendo website for Smash DLC characters loves linking them to a recent game they have on Switch) seems quite obvious. There's also the matter of this year being a big anniversary for the Tales series, and while it missed the big March reveal (when the anniversary itself is in the year) they could've very well saves Yuri for later. What's really holding him back is less fan demand compared to other Namco characters, along with other members of his series. Furthermore, Namco seems content with their sole rep in Pac Man, so that in the end could kill his chances. Still, he is a decent amount of fan demand, is part of a genre and audience that Smash DLC adores, is popular among Tales fans, and would be very easy to negotiate. Plus we're on the end of the pass now, and smaller picks will likely be the norm.
Want: 0% - No offense, Yuri, but you're not the character I'd want. He doesn't at all seem interesting to me, his genre has already gotten loads of love in the DLC (and three JRPG characters in a row would be extremely excessive), and competition is a huge issue. Now, I do respect his legacy, but if we really have to have a Tales rep they should at least give us Lloyd, who has by and far more fan demand. Plus, most importantly, my most wanted character is a different Bandai-Namco character, and Yuri getting in, especially with the possibility of the next game being Super Reboot Bros, means that my most wanted will never get in ever. And that would really be saddening. So while Yuri certainly deserves it...now really isn't the time. Sorry, buddy...
