Nintendo's image is so party-game, not only do I think they would never make an intentionally competitive Smash Bros game, but I don't think they'll ever make a competitive fighter. Even Mario Kart has items geared to help the last-place player and screw the 1st place.

So, no.

No; never. I can't see that happening nowadays unless Nintendo makes a total transformation.

they just went with what sells, not that I blame then since GCN was considered closely to a failure system of that generation. Only game I wanted on the wii was Fatal frame, but I already sold the wii off, so no real point, it was only to play RE4 over and over

GC wasn't remotely close to a failure system. Nintendo made more money off of it than Microsoft did off Xbox -- by a mile.

What makes me sad is that the Gamecube was far superior to the PS2 in terms of the actual hardware in the system. N64 wasnt so hot either. It had some great games but playstation had soooo many (but alot of people love it). And wii is extreme fail. Of course nintendo doesnt see it like that since they selling a bajillion copies, but it contributes practically NOTHING to the gaming community. I dont care if grandma plays wii sports.

Is it really a complete failure? I remember just last year, the PS3 & 360 were both underselling compared to the Wii. Perhaps their sales are reaching a local-minimum? Maybe even an absolute minimum? Check yo' derivatives.

the wii is definitely not a commercial failure, but it's pretty much a big letdown for anyone who's serious about gaming. There are a few exceptions, but most competitive games are on other consoles. I do like that Nintendo has a larger variety of game types (excluding the crap they market to children), but the bottom line for competitive communities like us is that the Wii is basically **** with a few standouts.

They will never make a competitive smash bros. game, ever because they don't market to us.

They will never make a competitive game ever, because they dont market to real gamers. Closest thing I see happening to that is if they accidentally make a really cool/competitive version of tetris or something.

And I was implying the same thing about the wii not being a commercial failure, but a failure in gaming as a whole

They would need a really good reason to make a game for competition. Practically a revolution. Reading some of the Sakurai interviews a while ago, he basically said, "**** the serious players. Little kids are where it's at." They could make a lot of money if they did an MLG type of thing, but develop their own games and hold major tournaments. Too bad they're centered in Japan and are pandering to non-competitive groups.

This may be the most ignorant thing you've ever said. Do you know who NINTENDO is?

Nevermind that "real gamers" play anything worthwhile, not something that just fits their image of what a "real" game is.

i dont know what the brawl community is like at all. but im pretty sure i would get along much better with the melee community. based on the fact that they like a game with more integrity.

It's one thing not to market to competitive gamers. It's another thing to purposely spend time and resources to spite them (brawl). It's okay to "ignore" one market but to purposely drive them away is idiotic. Did they really think noobs would go " Whoa L cancelling is in brawl? lets not buy it" it wouldn't effect the sales at all, they just did it to spite competitive gamers

yeah, sakurai kinda set out to put some kind of wierd thing whre he thought the competitive community was disencouraging the casual feel of what smash was supposed to be. Wasn't melee without miyamoto's involement?

After being two communities, i say Both communities are really cool and fun. both communities have their own pro and flaws. I dont have any problem with the Melee Communities as with brawl. ehh to say which community is better? I'll let you decide on that
